I'm not from Cebu but I have been working here for about a decade now and I can say that Cebu is truly more free than any of the places I have been in the Philippines. You can feel really relaxed here. Manila's hustle and bustle is so fast paced and one really needs to adjust to it.

Lucy, George, please try to visit also Davao or Zambaonga its southern part of Mindanao already... for sure you will enjoy the place...

Doing every effort to keep up with western cities...Cebu is kind of doing the same but more subtle...but it is still Cebu-City...basically...because of Cebu (island) BGC and many other uptown areas in MM is due to the earnings of the Visayas....mainly tourism and produce....

I suggest next time taking the new 3rd bridge, which is the CCLEX, is the best way to avoid traffic and for more convenient and faster travel from Cebu City or mainland Cebu to Mactan Island, and vice versa. It will take you only less than 10 minutes to reach Mactan Island from Cebu City through South Road Properties (SRP). The iconic 8.9-kilometer Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway or CCLEX also known as the 3rd Bridge or Sto. Niño Bridge, is the longest, tallest and the largest bridge in the Philippines and connects Mactan Island through Cordova town to mainland Cebu through the South Road Properties (SRP) in Cebu City. Just pay an extra 90 pesos for the toll fee, and it's worth it: no traffic, faster travel, and an amazing and breathtaking view of the skyline of Cebu City, the sea, the mountains, and the Mactan Channel.

Cebu is brighter due to less smog less than Manila anyways. Go to Iloilo and see how much brighter it is than both large cities of Manila and Cebu.

That Abaca crew is funny and must be clueless and ignorant about abaca plant. Abaca can't be pronounced something else except for its original pronunciation by how the locals pronounce it. The correct pronunciation for Abaca is [ˈabəˌkä] where the stress is on the first syllable as demonstrated here. Abaca is an indigenous plant endemic to Cebu island in the musa family. Abaca is thought to be the progenitor of the modern banana and plantain species that we eat today. Abaca is very common growing wild in forested mountains all over Cebu mainland.
