We had a repairman come to work on our dryer. He told us that if an appliance lasts 5-6 years now that we’ll be fortunate. The old ones lasted thirty- forty years til we got tired of looking at them. It’s a shame, the more we seem to learn, the worse things get.
We live in a condo and had to replace our washer and dryer. They have to be stackable and cost us $3,500.00. Ridiculous! Like you said they will probably have to be replaced in a few years

My SIL was The Maytag Man up here for 20 years. He told me to hold on to my older appliances as long as possible because new ones are built to last 7 years. Attrition keeps them in business.
Years ago, I froze grated summer squash in 1/2 cup patties and add it in cookies, cupcakes, muffins, cakes, pancakes, cornbread, with potatoes, meatloaf, casseroles, chili, soups. A little squash goes well just about everywhere!

Extended warranty on refrigerators is a good thing. Our refrigerator went out 3 months prior to the month its 5yr warranty was up. Our repair guy said the new parts should not give us a problem for a long time. Our in-freezer ice maker was also having issues. So he gave us a new one. He was great and made sure there was nothing else that needed to be replaced.
Brooke you can put a refrigerator out there and not plug it in and put a frozen jug of water in it for the eggs. Take a new jug down with the eggs everyday

Cut squash long ways, dig a center out both sides, fill with favorite meat loaf cover both with tomato sauce. Basil Italian salt pepper oregano seasonings. Put in oven for 425 till meat cooked 45 min. French make this delicious ❤ check oven at 30 min.

My hubby was an appliance tech for 23yrs and he would sometimes come up with a 'fix' for things that were becoming common issues- and after talking to customer service where they pretend they never heard of that before... they would start telling other service techs and sending out service bulletins about the new 'fix' they came up with!
Brooke, have you ever made stuffed squash? Par-boil whole squash until about 1/2 done then cut them in half and scoop out the inner portion and mix with chopped sautéd onions, bread crumbs, a little garlic and some parsley and stuff the squash shells with the mixture. Finally, generously top with parmeason cheese and put into oven and cook until stuffing part is brown.

Samsung refrigerators have big issues too. Repairman told me all refrigerators are made to only last about 8 yrs. He told me I should've kept the 20 yr old one. My Samsung couldn't even be repaired.
Mom used to make zucchini into pineapple somehow. The way our zucchini grew in the summer, we had an abundance of pineapple for the winter. She used it mostly for cooking where pineapple is called for or the substitute for oil in a baking recipe.
I had the best holiday dinner ever , my son smoked the best brisket ever and I made potatoe salad, deviled eggs , bean salad , seasoned green beans , and strawberry shortcake too
You’re having a week like I had a few weeks ago. In this order, husbands engine light came on, lawn tractor choke cable broke, dryer quit working and then my dishwasher computer went!!!!😢 Thank God my husband is able to fix things but sheesh! I spent the weekend in the garden. Boy has it grown like crazy. The sun and loads of rain have made everything grow fast here in the UK. I am already having to chop down so we can have the second bloom of things such as the Borage. Bees have been so happy. Most of my plants are flowering a month early. Even my cherries are starting to colour up and the raspberries are in full swing. Those donkey's are really starting to get mischievous. Honey eggs Jessie on and plays innocent lol. I think that they will get worse as they get older, but it is really funny.

What about a good old Coleman cooler? You can double insulate it with foam boards. Use a gallon milk jug of frozen water to keep cold and place a piece of cardboard on top and close the lid. This is how we do our camping, and it keeps cold for about 5 days😊
That is smart and low-tech. I hope the electric cooler works out though, because that would entail more labor and they already work so hard. But regardless, you've really helped me out because we are about to be off-grid for 4 days and I've been worrying about the ice chest lasting. Thank you!
@victoriabaker4400 Hey Victoria 👋 we use 3 coolers for long-term camping. #1 I freeze everything and place it in cooler with milk jug. This cooler is only opened once daily to remove next days meals. #2 this cooler holds all other perishable foods and Gallon frozen water. #3 is for beverages and thawing frozen things. That way, only the #3 cooler is being opened by others, which helps the 1#2 stay older longer. 😉

Can’t remember why but I do recall thinking “darn I really wish that video was longer.” I don’t know exactly why your videos are so much better than any other YT’ers but they are. I didn't realize it's a thing to need replacing, glad to know I'm not alone. I lost some weight and inflammation when I went gluten free, and wound up losing my rings in the garden. Even bought a metal detector but no luck. Finally bought a band (from a pawn shop, I'm not picky and paying retail for new jewelry is not happening). Anyway, I'm glad to know I'm not alone. All I found with the metal detector was rusty iron bits.
My husband loves when I fry a pound of ground sausage, don’t drain, and cover to the top of the skillet with diced squash. Cover and let it cook down on a low heat until it’s all happy. He can make a meal out of it. 😊

Brooke one Sunday night after Church I said I am going to see if I can find something in the garden. I picked some squash, a few green beans,a few okra pods, a few green onions a big green tomato. Sliced& diced salt& pepper floured in a little oil, browned on both sides and it was delish the two of us ate it all but I don’t fix it often. Summer squash. Sliced green tomatoes,onions makes good pickles!
We have our old refrigerator in the garage, and it works great in the summer. By the time late fall comes around, the freezer in the fridge doesn't work until spring is in the air.

Jason, Remember the issue with your first min-fridge... customers couldn't se it eggs were available. (I used to work for Pepsi) Call your local Pepsi/Coke Distributor to see if they have some used ones. They may have swapped some out that had OLD logos or graphics and don't want to use those anymore
