With the spotlight now on Woods, the team is demanding an answer as to why he would steal important evidence and then attempt to quit the company. The amount of trust they once had in him is severely injured and once all the cards are out for everyone to see, they discuss amongst themselves if having him back in the known is the best thing for the investigation. But the true test comes when they are presented with a rare opportunity to learn more about "The Spire" and possibly the hauntings in Red Base. Will they be able to get the information they need? Or is this another dead end forcing them to start from square one?

So we can agree that Woods isn't in the wrong here, right? He wanted to dig into a lead that has deep personal ties to himself, on his own before bringing it to the rest of them. Matt's the one who's brute forcing his way into everything with no regard for anyone's emotions.

Both are kind of in the wrong. Woods probably should have said something around when he saw the file, or failing that did a better job of explaining himself. Matt was weirdly accusatory and almost didn't seem to care to understand Woods at all, but just blame him for not being like a rank and file soldier or something. Matt in general seems to be making poor and rash decisions lately, yet many times like in this video, he talks as if he's wizened and knows how to act responsibly. It kind of seems like he's become that quintessential perfect planner yet terrible in action type of character.

Oh hesdefinitly wrong for hiding it. But its understandable since last time he had a connection everyone ganged up on him and he was almost completely casted out. The episode where he hung out as a teen in the spot the mountaineer was dumped.

Matt is writen to be a villian, this is the season were suppose to look back on when we are 4 or 5 in when some bs "villian" reviel happens an say "this is where it started." His writing annoys me, The character feels dumbed down and 1 note. "scare my friends or im ordering im forcing everyone to do what i want and im blackmailing . threatening innocent ppl who were experimented on" Honestly this "character" for matt is annoying me.

@@DemonicGoddess yeah, i mean like I get it’s just a character but it’s annoying when he’s super controlling to his friends and then act like there was no other way to possibly ask nicely for them to do it? Like he’s surprised about everyone quitting when he’s treating them more like objects then friends. I get that he wants it to be over with but there’s way better ways to convince people to do the things you need them to do other then making them feel trapped and manipulated

@@DemonicGoddess Come to think of it I feel like my issue with his character is really similar. I love a good villain arc, but this arc doesn't make a ton of sense for him - it falls flat. His motivations are unclear. Throughout his arc we've had a series of motivations including: protecting his family and friends, protecting himself, his feeling of responsibility for the events, a desperate need for a resolution, and finally this... weird power trip? He's not struggling effectively between "this will keep going if we don't do anything" and "this will continue happening no matter what we do," both of which viewpoints he has showed a clear understanding of separately, but there's no internal tension between them. Matt's character pre-breaking of the spell had complex motivations, post-reveal his fatal flaw of stubbornness started to emerge and now it's his only character trait, resulting in violent outbursts and an abuse of his power over his "friends." Maybe that means something plot-wise, but personally I think a villain that shows conditional compassion is way more compelling than this callous version of Matt has the potential to be. We know he doesn't lack empathy (at least he didn't before he'd been exposed to serum and radiation), so a Matt that showed empathy in some situations towards some people but not others would be very interesting - i.e. a villain that would destroy the world to save someone he loved. I'm still trusting the plot to carry this somewhere interesting, but currently I'm bored by his villain arc and hoping for some more complexity to emerge in future episodes.

That's why the patient was skeptical, and even asked Matt, " who are you REALLY??" because he just sounds like a syntec employee. Interested to see where his character goes.

Woods: I'm just trying to protect the people I care about. Rest of the Team: Lol sucks you were tortured [REDACTED], come visit! "She's been through a lot." "I realize that, but so have we." Really? I understand the drive to gather info, but the lack of empathy is unsettling. Other commenters have drawn a parallel between the 863 team and the Syntec team. It's becoming more true with each episode.

Matt's lack of empathy is becoming increasingly concerning. Absolutely no regard for this woman's trauma, and says "so have we" when Woods says she's been through a lot. She was EXPERIMENTED ON for who knows how long. She was broken and had her life stripped away. Come on Matt, open your eyes.

It’s understandable that Matt could use kids glove to handle the situation better but remember this Matt is incredibly frustrated. He is doing everything he can to dismantle the company and end it once and for all.

I saw another comment that said his behavior and focus is becoming similar to that of Syphus...which makes me wonder if he still has serum in his system. We never found out what he was injected with...assuming the jail he visited really is affiliated with syntec.

Matt also has to think of his family and his employees. Yes he could have done the interview some where else but sometimes you feel trapped in a way where logic doesn't always allow you to think of all possibilities or perspectives.

Im so sorry for saying this,but I noticed when Matt starts to get *Aggressive* (in a way) he starts to try and guilt trip. This sound bad for Matt,but it’s the truth. If Matt keeps leading this alone they won’t get far. We saw how when woods took the lead they finally got somewhere.All I’m trying is that…one person can’t lead the team alone. Maybe that’s why they were somehow chosen to be a team. (THIS IS NO HATE ON MATT BTW)

Ben said they are one and the same. His aggression is starting to peak, it doesn't feel like a team. It feels like there just asking for the ride cause they don't want to loose there jobs. Matt is starting to loose it some. I don't think they have him an antidote. No telling what they did.

@@dalockedbeast7582 I agree. There have been subtle hints too like Matt starting to dress in a similar fashion to the Phantom. It even kinda seems like he's trying to get us (subject 4) to sympathize with him too. Like after Woods quit he was like "Two of my friends have quit on me, and seem to blaming me too as if I'm choosing to do this, as if it's my fault this is all happening. Are you guys going to leave me too?" which was towards the girls, but kinda us too. The events could happen regardless, but the way Matt is now going about it is what's making them leave and it's so sad and dangerous for their team

Bruh. Matt is frustrating. I get he had no other options, but why was there no sympathy. She obviously has serious trauma from talking about it, and going to the place she was tortured would make it 1000x worse. She knows what could happen to her if there was a slip up somehow and if I were her I wouldn’t want to go back either. Something is up with Matt. (Loving the series! Keep it up guys!)

Not gonna lie, the whole time I was watching them communicate w/ the experiment survivor, I kept wondering why they couldn't arrange to meet her in a location other than the studio, because she has had such a horrific experience there when it was a part of syntec. In the teaser for what's to come next time she was plainly anxious because she was at the studio, stating that she doesn't like being in this location. Honestly I feel that the team might not get as much information as they need when they interview her, because the location will probably make her afraid of speaking really openly. We can only hope that the interview goes well for the team but if the survivor doesn't feel comfortable disclosing as much info as the team needs, I don't blame her at all.

Exactly why not go to her instead if they truly want info. I'd be safer and shed be more comfortable. I feel that Matt needs to feel less pressured and needs to calm down more. He's thinking to pessimistically and is being to harsh. There's obviously a lot of truama surrounding that place and that needs to be understood. I understand his side of the story but he also needs to be more thoughtful of others. (not that I'm saying he's not he just could work on it a bit more) idk if any of that made sense but yea

@@penguinnub3722 I do agree that Matt is not being completely inconsiderate, as he basically guaranteed the survivor's safety and anonymity during the interview, but insisting that the survivor come to the place she was traumatized was too much.

It's so tough because we know from previous videos that syntec has multiple locations in the region where the studio is, and as the survivor said, syntec has eyes and ears everywhere. That makes it hard to find a truly safe place to conduct the interview, but I feel some attempt should have been made to hold the interview some place else.

With this in mind the fact that Matt doesn't seem to realize the negative impact that going to the studio will have on the survivor is concerning.

It's completely understandable that Matt is beyond frustrated and tired of everything, but his lack of sympathy or compassion towards the patient irks me so much. Like dude, I get it, you're the boss, you're the team's leader and you feel like you need to take charge on everything because it's your duty-however, sometimes it's not a bad idea to let other people take the lead for a change. Matt talks about how people are starting to hate him and I don't blame them. He's changed, as many people pointed out, showing familiar patterns of how Syphus was. Woods is not in the wrong for quitting and stealing the file. Maybe he could've done with being more forthcoming, but come on, the guy was only thinking about protecting his family. Woods is not in the wrong here. We love you, Matt, we know you're trying your best in solving everything; but please just take a breath.

So I'm not the only one who noticed that Matt seems to get a lack of empathy, but nobody has made the link between this and the fact that this might be a side effect of the serum. Others have also noted that Matt is taking lead without asking the rest of the TEAM.

I been calling this out on every post i see refering to matt. He is the obvious villian and the writing is so one note this season that thier gonna be like "here is a SURPRISE" villian. oor its gonna be the "mentel" imprint of nelson on him.. The fact he was injected at the police station is obviously him being villianed. And its annoying how obvious it was if he didnt screw over like 2 friends back to back i would say ooh he lost mike in season 2 and in season 3 someone else left.. its just back to back and its annoying. His character writing sucks. Then he complains of "haters" well make better writing... and story telling.

You are provide criticism BUT, you are providing it in a rude manner (i.e. calling things annoying) and that they do take actual criticism thats constructive obv (from seeing how they revamp and change certain aspects). Simply saying he has haters because of lack of good writing or storytelling is rude and unnecessary. Do better.

Honestly, thank you for talking about the manipulation!! I’ve gone through some manipulative experiences and it’s causing me not to focus on the parts where they are all being VERY manipulative at times. Anyways, thanks for distracting my brain so i don’t deal with the trauma this ep is triggering LOL! :)

It felt so forced and shift changed. Every episode this season is him forcing something and controlling something. While i understand its a character and the writers would be to blame matt is incharge of the script writing he could say "guys this is to obvious" and i have a feeling we caught on to soon so thier going to reveal "sam or woods, or some random employe of hi5 / spellbound. will be some mole or spy and its going to deflect from matt and he will say this is why i dont trust ppl and make him do a massive shift change which sam and woods and baily would say "makes since" but then they realize to late he basicly inacted somemore evil "im the leader cant question me or else" mentality.

And perhaps only Woods of the three sees that these threats and manipulation are wrong. He stayed with Mike while the voice was being recorded and he was trying to protect the person he knew. Matt doesn't care what Woods is going through or this patient, because what matters most is what he can achieve. And honestly, I hope the serum speaks for him, not himself. I hope it won't be too late for the antidote when they find one.

Theory: What if that is the people who syntec take/kidnap, people who are "expected" to just run away at any moment so that there is barely a follow up and no athorities contacted or not handled as a serious situation so there is barely a risk for syntec to be caught by the police plus the police is eligibly corrupt which can help them to hide evidence etc

They're known as high risk victims. People with drug issues, s*x workers, runwaways, homeless, people who party and go out a lot. They live a high risk lifestyle which makes them easy targets for certain crimes from theft all the way though to homocide. Most police officers wouldn't do anythin if one of these types of people were reported missin.

Matt’s brain is breaking: My theory is that since matt never got an antidote for the serum in his body, that it might be deteriorating his brain just like Bens. That’s why Matt felt no sympathy when talking to this person and forcing them to talk about traumatic life experiences. It also explains (not 100% sure) why Ben said at the meet up “you and I, were the same.” Matt’s brain snapped just like bens, everyone compares matt to syphus but in reality he’s more like Ben.

Sorry, but Matt is becoming a bit unstable, not being able to control his frustrations and anger. I don't think that's a good quality in a leader. Sam also keeps following Matt with his reactions. I think Bailey is the only one that has hope and positivity. She keeps a clear head, and takes into account other people's feelings/experiences. I think that Bailey would make a good leader at this time.

Yeah, plus she seemed confused as to why Matt wasn't offering a meet up *anywhere* else. Even if not made leader, her reasoning seems much more sound yet she all too often gets ignored when bringing up those good points.

Theory: so we know that Woods took a patient file because he knows the person, he knew her when he was little. WE know that she has been through a lot and mysteriously disappears.Does she know about Deb? Does she know about/who is Ben? Was Woods’ mom a patient too? Why did the spirit say “Hello woods” after leading them the Woods’ apartment? Did the spirit know that Woods took the file? Is the spirit another family member of Woods who has died because why else would it say “Hello Woods” besides about the patient file. Because we know she is alive, when I thought she was dead and haunting the crew. Does she know about Syphus? There are many questions I still have and unfortunately I don’t have Twitter, so this is the only way I am able to tell people my theory’s.

First off, I think she does know about Deb, Deb knew about the project spire, and when Matt told Wood's friend where the studio location was, she said that was where she was tortured. It all falls into place, Deb's apple 2 was there, Deb worked in the facility, and there was a dead body outline in one of the rooms. I'm guessing, that the spirit (the person who died) knew Wood's friend so that's why the spirit gave directions to Wood's apartment where the patient file of his friend was. Secondly, Ben loved Deb and knew Wes, so all three of them possibly worked in the same facility. So I guess all of that explains your theory. =) But I don't think this involves Woods' mom, I don't know how you could wonder that but ok.

I am happy that the team has FINALLY found a source which can most probably provide legit answers to them. That being said, we know how important this meet is going to be, so why is Matt so unreasonable and stuck to his own way of things. I get it, Woods lied to you guys and stole evidence but not for once did Matt think from Woods' perspective and even after that the way he talked with the lady was just so rude and dry and not at all sympathetic. She has most probably gone through horrors we can't even begin to dream of, and yet Matt has the audacity to compare her pain with their own?? The reason why she agreed to woods could partially be because she knows him and thus is more comfortable, but it also worked because the msg woods sent were warm and comforting. Matt, we all love you with all our hearts, but you gotta be more patient and sympathetic and a bit open minded in such situations.

I think Matt has this mindset that he is the boss so he has to lead everything. He did first make it known to woods that he was gonna lead it even though woods could have probably made the process quicker. Also, when woods took control of the computer taking the lead away from Matt, matt already accepted defeat in the siciuation almost to say that if he can't do something noone can (Speaking outside of the story) I feel like this might play into Matt's character arc

And yes the process would have gone a lot quicker if Matt let Woods do the talking. I get that it's Matt's studio and employees that are being affected and Matt wants closure but that's no excuse for him to act the way he did.

I’m glad the team gets to speak to the survivor, but I absolutely hate how Matthias is not a reasonable person. It’s his way, or no way. Why guilt trip her? Why not choose a different location? Why forcefully have to do whatever YOU want? You know how horrible that place was to her and yet you still want her there. You bring her down and when she says ‘no’, because of your words, you quit. Also put into perspective that Matt is also her boss and has pretty much threatened two of his employees already to help him. I wouldn’t want to step out of line if it meant my job too.

Theory: Remember when Matt was in the hospital from being exposed to the serum because he was the only one of the team who didn't get an antidote what if at the time he said he felt fine because the serum hadn't worked it's way through his system and now like in this video and the previous one his lack of empathy and how deadpan he's being is because the serum is now getting to him like how Ben was so calm and seemingly showed no emotion after being exposed to the serum for years what if that is what is slowly happening with Matt even though he feels fine and looks fine he is slowly becoming different and it's a little concerning I could be wrong but who knows.

@@marriah2595 Woods didn't give up Matt did. Matt wasn't sympathetic to someone most likely suffering from PTSD and got frustrated because his harsh way of talking wasn't getting her to say yes. He tried to guilt trip her being like "Well you're not going to do it for Woods, your family? If you don't that means you don't care about your family. You're not going to come even with all the accommodations? That's selfish of you, trauma victim" She clearly doesn't want to go there. Even if it looks different the memory is still there. Like if you go back to the house where you saw someone get murdered, someone moved in and it looks all pretty now, but the memory is still there and can be hard to forget. They may only want info, but Matt could have been more sympathetic and had a softer hand when handling the situation with someone who survived a tramatic experience that changed her

Dang, a few episodes back, the phantom/specter said that him and Matt were the same when the met outside the studio. However Matt proclaimed he wasn’t. Based on the way matt acted it actually sounds like he is. Kinda like how in earlier episodes, we read that Nelson wasn’t exactly the voice of reasoning when it came to some practice, neither is matt, case in point when woods took over. It’s not obvious and took time to get here, but it really looks like this goes deeper.

Also I really hated how Matt said we don't need him. Honestly has his friendship throughout the many years been together just all thrown away over this small issue. I haven't watched the video all the way so I may need to edit this but I kind of understand why woods would take the file and not tell anyone about it. This is someone who woods knows personally and recently many of the clues that have lead directly to one of the team members has lead to Woods so its kind of understandable for him to want to protect someone he knows. Plus the fact that this person disappeared can definitely add to the stress of being one of the main team members who have been affected by this.

Mat is changing, I think it has something to do with the serum, here are some differences I noticed. Old mat: -goofy -cheerful -cares for his team -takes into account how others feel Mat now: -manipulative -stressed -serious -doesn’t take into account how others feel -unstable (progressively) -has serum in his system And also I’d like to mention ben’s characteristics Ben: -unstable -pretty much broken -serum in his system (probably) -serious -stressed “We’re more alike thank you think” maybe there’s some truth to that…

A few points I'd like to touch on: Firstly, Matt being this aggressive towards Woods is frankly frustrating. Yes, Woods made a move that put the whole investigation in danger, but he did it to protect someone close to him. That is honorable, if anything Secondly, Matt kept asking Anon the same questions over and over. Sure they were phrased differently, but it's no wonder why she found him suspicious. Matt being unable to understand and empathize with Anon is worrying. There is something very obviously wrong with Matt lately. They keep talking about how the high dose of radiation neutralized the serum, but that's not what the documents originally said. The documents said that a high dose of radiation would STABILIZE the serum. The serum is still active, just stable, so it is still very much capable of effecting Matt. Matt could have very well offered to meet in a public space such as a coffee house. Why did they have to meet at Spellbound, where she was very obviously not comfortable being? Finally, Matt is being extremely ungrateful towards Woods and Anon at the end, when Woods is able to convince Anon to meet with him. He's been doing a lot of eye-rolling and Matt's behavior is getting to be extremely annoying.

Matts apparent lack of empathy and Sam's slightly more empathy but still not much is bringing me back to my original theory. I've said from the very early on that I feel like Matt, Sam and Woods mirror Nelson, Deb and Wes. Since seeing those documents of Sam before she was born I thought this has something to do with time travel or alternate universes maybe. Especially when Deb said 'this happens the same every time' (or something like that) I feel like they're trying to break the loop but it keeps happening the same way in every time period/version of reality.

I feel like Matt is turning the villain now. He is being demanding now and when he says “I’ll talk to the team” it’s really just him saying what he’s gonna do, he barely listens to them. And I totally see what Woods is thinking, I don’t see how Matt could be so distrusting. Wouldn’t he do the same if he saw someone he knew and loved? He isnt seeing what everyone else is feeling. They wouldn't have that same close connection like with this patient and woods, but for all we know there could be others. It is plainly obvious that woods is REALLY struggling ATM, and as a team/family you should be helping him. Woods took the file to protect her and his family being potentially involved. He saw her name, was shocked, and decided to quit to also protect himself while trying to figure out what happened to her. All in all, makes sense. God knows what anyone else in that situation would do, but fear is legit and is overwhelming, and when it comes to family, then it overtakes everything else.

What if once they used her as a subject that’s how they could pull woods in. All in all, this episode was very difficult to watch I had to skip through some spots because I couldn’t deal with some of the things they were saying to her. Why would they force her to come back to the location where she felt like she wanted to die when she was there. I think (even though Matt got taken by the people and he felt better) what if the serum is effecting him, making him act like this. I feel as though asking about deb, or the John Doe, would be in order. If they know of a spy, John Doe is untrustworthy, and asking about deb may be able to reveal some of her intentions. Edit: what if Matt just told her about the channel, then she herself can see who Matt is

@@DemonicGoddess Yeah, seems to be that's the thing this season. While I've kind of felt Matt's not acted quite right since the start, being generally slow to act and brushing off some major red flags for later, his flip flopping of calm and collected intellectual demeanour with emotional hot head is really getting frustrating, and it's bit jarring given that nobody seems to say anything about it, like his behaviour is perfectly normal.

When Sam laid down on the body outline, she seemed to fit into it perfectly. She is 5'9. The ghost touched Ronald Burggs' file, and in that file it said that he is 5'9. Which means that that could be his outline.
