GG blizz, great Q&A. I really like it. I like it so much that I made a video about how was my reactions going when I was watching it. If you feel the same disgust as me, feel free to share it.
Demo is pretty good right now if you play with the right conduits and stuff. It does great stacked cleave and boss damage in mythic+. Affliction does more damage in raids though. There's only one boss with significant stacked cleave (mythic SLG), and Affliction is still much better in that fight than demo due to all the movement not giving you time to build proper tyrants. But current affliction is arguably even harder to play well than demonology was in WoD when this was recorded. And guess what, Ion's nerfing Affliction into the ground in 9.1!
Ion Hazzikostas, thanks for destroying the Warlock class completely and utterly. Time to playing a hunter. Oh and by the way when Activision/Blizzard fires you because of the massive amount of money you cost them, every single person that played a Warlock as their main is going to CHEER and rejoice that you are GONE.

They are still, in the year 2023, playing favorites with spec balancing instead of actually balancing stuff. They nerfed Demo again for 10.2 PTR to laughably bad damage, which means they can't even test the outdoor content correctly.
There are people in this world that self identify with their jobs way too much. Ion is one of these people. His job actually creates hisself image and self identit for him. This is why he said this. The way players play, what classes they choose ect actually effect him on a personal level. And I can guarantee there is a toxic work environment at blizzard right now. I will bet not one person under him can disagree with him withou it being taken personally.
Apparently most Blizzard employees make a hard living. They don't pay you much if you aren't at the top. There are stories of Blizzard devs living out of there cars, having multiple jobs, etc. while Blizzard and now Activision made billions. It really is ridiculous how cheap these massive companies are when it comes to paychecks.
I guess you could see the reasoning in hindsight. Legion was going to completely overhaul demo. Of course they couldn't mention that at the time. Still, it's funny that at some point in time, the official Blizzard stance towards a spec was "please just don't play it."
They also did that with Survival. It was extremely good in Blackrock Foundry and then got nerfed into the ground in HFC. Then they turned it into a melee spec that nobody plays in PVE.
This is the kind of anti-fun uncompassionate bullshit that made me quit WoW. I played mage and I knew they were doing this to Frost over and over and over.

Blizz, Stop disrespecting my Demonology Warlock, If I wanted to play a piss poor easy class I would roll a beastmaster hunter. your makeing it to where I just want to go back to playing my rogue. Every class I try as my main you nerf into uselessness and I have to fall back onto another toon.
No, no it's really not. All of the warlock specs are awful and plagued with issues that have been brought up for over half a year on the beta and alpha and Blizzard just continues to nerf them. The pre-patch tomorrow will see the warlock population plummet.
