Why did I start watching this channel? I'm a city boy. I've never been on a farm in my life. I've already seen at least 50 of Nate's videos, and I can't stop. I do appreciate his kindness and care he shows these animals.

It amazes me how ferocious cows' immune systems must be. If we had a substantial lesion exposed to those conditions, we'd get gangrene, sepsis, or any number of other conditions. With cows, you just spray it down with chlorhexidine or iodine, apply salicylic acid if necessary, put on a block to keep weight off it, and they're generally good to go.
@alexanderoutlander.1040
@alexanderoutlander.1040 2 года назад
I agree with you but think too that in this kind of big farms it is very common to put a lot of vaccines with antibiotics to the animals. Thanks to the cows we discovered vaccination by the way.
@albeon_draken
@albeon_draken 2 года назад
@@alexanderoutlander.1040 Someone may have to correct me on this, but since feeding cows a steady diet of antibiotics tends to breed superbugs, I believe the EU and UK have banned the practice for quite some time now. As for vaccines, most of them are designed to prevent viral infection, not bacterial.
@alexanderoutlander.1040
@alexanderoutlander.1040 2 года назад
@@albeon_draken well not all the antibiotics, but from 2006 all kind of growth vaccination on cattle has been banned in the EU. You are right vaccination is against virus not bacteria.

Knife work always amazes me. Yesterday The HoofGP posted a video of a white line crack that was full of stones! He mentioned how the stones can really mess with the knife edge. Makes me wonder how many knives you have and how often to you have to sharpen them? Do they last a while and do you tweak the curvature to suit your style of trimming?
