Ever since we moved to Scotland, I've been itching to climb Ben Vorlich! Standing at 985 meters, it’s not the safest mountain to tackle in winter, so we waited for the first sunny day at the end of March to make our ascent. Without our own crampons, reaching the top was quite an adventure. If you're planning to climb between autumn and spring, I highly recommend bringing crampons, as the north-facing slope is more prone to snow than other peaks!
Despite a few nerve-wracking moments slipping around in the snow, this hike has become one of my favourites in the area. I can't wait to do it again-next time, fully equipped with crampons!
We did the out and back route, although you can do various easier loops or even go via Stuc a'Chroin (which is supposedly quite challenging!)
