There are early blooming, mid-blooming, and late blooming daffodils . Be patient and you will be rewarded. You may need to thin them out/spread them out to encourage blooming. Mine were green in November and finished blooming in first week of March. Deer leave mine alone .

Use a garden fork to lift them. Wait until they finish blooming, as the foliage generates food for the bulbs so blooms have food for next year. My mom used to thin her Daffodils, Surprise Lilies, Spider Lilies, Iris, Hellebore Lilies, etc. and has made a gorgeous arc of lilies from east side of house around to the south. It is gorgeous when Surprise lilies bloom then the red Spider lilies bloom after the Surprise lilies finish blooming. Tulips also come in Early, Mid, & Late blooming just like the Daffodils/Narcissus.

Hey guys to help with odors around and in the pens you can safely use barnyard lime. Just spread a light amount over the problem area. It is also good around pens and yard to ward off snakes.

So pleased Herc appears fine. Totally thrilled Herc strutted his stuff when Ken visited Goatville. It’s a very mixed feeling when you want your LGD to love you and family and perform their reason for being there in the first place. Wonderfully reassuring for you and a timely reminder to all that these wonderful balls of fluff have role and will stake the boundaries and defend. Just thrilled that Herc can differentiate between inside and outside Goatville. What a champion!

Things are looking good at Shady Acres. Luigi and Mario love to play around with each other. Was wondering what Hercules thought of other people coming in around the goats. That just shows he's doing his job. GOD BLESS Y'ALL.

Shannon you’re the hardest worker! Please consider wearing a mask or respirator when you’re cleaning out the goat shed. Straw and hay produce a lot of dust debris and can cause lung issues. The bacteria flourishes after the guys use it for a toilet😂 You don’t need a bacterial lung infection, ever. ♥️

Love watching your video's. We had a friendly chow/lab mix who wouldn't let anyone in our car. We had to get him out, let the rider in, then put him in and he was then fine. Only our family could get in freely. When daughter walked the dog he'd stand crossways in front of her when strangers approached. He didn't growl or get aggressive, just watch. If we introduced him, he relaxed. We really miss him.

Transplanting at any time won’t kill them ever. Might affect one years blooms but they will bloom the next season. Wether early or late bloomers.

The 5 foot gate is like an equipment gate . Easier to bring in the wheelbarrow and hay etc. Hugs

How about putting rubber mats on the pallets in their shed? It would keep their pee from soaking into the plywood and holding the smell. The mats could be removed and scrubbed as needed. Just a thought.

The daffodils that I have 20 years later came in the fall along with the tulips and planted in fall tulips came from Holland MI, the Daffodils ( with the story that they originated in farm roundabout at the farm in MI ) have followed me across central IN in the fall transplants form. You two are so fun to watch..thanks for taking US along.

You can dig those up anytime you don't even have to plant them. I just threw some dirt that had a few bulbs in it they grew better than the ones I planted, you can't hardly kill them

Your bulbs may be too crowded to bloom. If so move a few to another location and plow the others under. Love watching y'all.

I was going to say that. The do need to be thinned out from time to time. Too crowded cuts down on blooms. The good news is that you will have more bulbs to plant in more areas. ❤

Ashes from your burn pile will work the same as the lime it will also help with the smell as well. Love your videos.

Boys love goatville. Daffodils can be late bloomers. They are supposed to be dug-transplanted in fall so you can get all the new bulbs. Blessings to Shady Acres 🙏

You need a bigger gate at some point (we like 8ft) to drive through. Just to be ready to take a tractor in for making cleanup, etc a little easier. Put a trailer on your sidexside. That'll be much more efficient than the wheelbarrow

Make your own gate ...... frame made out of PVC pipe and attach cattle panel section to it. That's what I did to make my garden gate.

Try using a garden fork to dig your daffodils. I really think it would be much easier. And if your tractor had the means of digging like a trench it would be an easy way to plant your daffodils.

Glad to see Herc is doing better. 🥰 Just wondering... if Herc won’t let anyone in with the goats, who will be able to take care of them when you both go on vacation or have to be away for any reason? 🤔 Might be something to think about.🙂 Shanon, some of my daffodils don’t bloom or have only a couple flowers. And they get lots of sunlight. I think I need to thin them out and fertilize 6 weeks before they’re due to flower. My other two varieties have lots of beautiful blooms. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Why don’t you move the ‘old’ hay from the eating area to the sleep pallets? Let them eat it and evacuate on it before putting into composter. Will save you some $ and compost easier.

Shannon you could put a coat of paint on the places where the goats sleep and pee. It would seal the wood and take some of the odor away.

Ok..solution..get the 4ft gate from goatsville entrance for the hay side gate..use the 5 ft gate to go into goatsville.. it can be explained as you need bigger there to get carts and barrows through 😂😂😂 problem solved!!!!! Shanon you need a mask for the clean up job in the hut.

It's better to transplant them in the fall. When you get a couple of buildings done, we'll, storage, put them around them in fall in the sun. The bulbs have definitely multiplied. Take pictures so you know where they are for fall. About September, start transplanting them.

DAFFODILS must be transplanted in the Fall. We have a festival here every Spring on Nantucket celebrating the Daffodil. It is the only flower animals (deer, rabbits, etc.) won't eat. Tulips get devoured

If y’all put a gate on the side of the goat-dominium, it would be great to access the hay/feed and make a better access route to haul old hay/straw/etc. to the compost piles!
