Huge thank you to Sherp for inviting us over to test drive their 10x10 Ark Sherp. I can't wait to tackle some unreal terrain with it soon. So cool to see their different versions. The full production model looks even better!
That would be an incredible disaster recovery vehicle. You could send something like that into hurricane or flood ravaged areas to help recover people. While a standard Sherp could pull out one or two, the Ark Sherp could serve as an ambulance / evacuator for more people or even stretcher casualties, or bring in more supplies or rescue personnel. I could see sending them in teams, 1 or 2 standard Sherps as more maneuverable runners, plus an Ark Sherp as a central base/hub for recovery operations. You could even palletize emergency equipment to be carried on the Sherp and dropped off to stay in the area with some of the personnel while the vehicles run back and forth. Run the Ark in loaded with equipment and personnel, drop the equipment to establish a forward base, assemble a tarp and bow cover system on the back of the Ark, then use it to ferry casualties out and supplies in. I hope someone is considering this, given the seeming prevalence of major disasters these days.
I live on the gulf coast and work for a power company. This would be amazing to have after a hurricane to get pole, transformers, people to places where the roads are washed out but you still need to get them power. Heck you could load the back yard derrick on it and be able to set pole . Amazing machine
@@DEDBRD-di4yj wouldn't those be a bit too long / heavy for the Sherp? I honestly don't know what a transformer weighs, but I would have thought more than you'd want to unload without a small crane.
I don't care if this is a joke. You try, TRY to build roads all over Russia. Really. Look at DISTANCES and TERRAIN. Who would PAY for building and MAINTAINING roads? Over swamps. over eternal frost, across thousands of kilometres. But by all means, if you have money to spen, come to us, build us some roads, PLEASE. I'm SICK of people implying we're too lasy to build roads.
@@myfatassdick NO - cos the method of steering is completely different. The 4 wheel version is 'skid-steer' whereas this one is articulated. Why not watch the video so you'll understand ?
I consider myself a man the knows a good piece of equipment when I see it and I have to say the guys the built this puppy had their hat on straight. I have seen the Sherpa in other videos and thought of that trailer attachment only because I have seen the northern Russian equipment with trailers hydraulic-driven behind the trucks that cross some unbelievable terrain. So excellent job goes out to the designers of this unit. It will take some doing to top this rig.
I'd bolt an off road camper trailer to the back and drive that thing across the Darien Gap! Sherp should do an expedition across it and make a video series.
AFAIK the last motorized crossing done entirely in a wheeled vehicle was in '85-'87. The hardest part now would be not getting murdered, it's said to be the most dangerous place on Earth.
I love how there's Can-Am with their 6x6 UTV and ATV which are super cool, then there's Sherp that has a 10x10 that does wheelies on command, and drove all the way across Russia.
Been waiting for this one! It's like a Sherp 18 wheeler! 😂 Definitely a wild machine! I think that would get you and all the machines back to camp without any issues!
That was a very nasty swamp it went through. I am sure most mud bogged trucks would have sunk and be hopelessly stuck half way. They really made this for muskegging.
It's obvious by this machine alone that Sherp has gone from "idea" to full steam production and all its difficult steps. That, is really cool. Rarely do such outlandish concepts get to bite outside their ring weight, but these guys obviously managed to do so and are putting a metric ton of thinking behind every little aspect of what is "a sherp".
The ultimate overlander! That would be one heck of trip (from one end of Russia to the other) but it's big enough to carry a small RV, so all the comforts of home could be had while in the middle of nowhere (as long as you don't run out of fuel - lol). 16:11 - Mrs. Ostarapper - LOL
@@ostacruiser I think cargo weight wise, similar but the Sherp could carry bigger items. Can't say I noticed a 'float' function on the vertical articulation - which the BV206 has - and I reckon by now so does the Sherp ! I suspect the 206 gives a smoother ride (& softer footprint - so better in snow) due to having tracks - the tyre grip ridges of the Sherp must create vibrations at certain speeds.
@@millomweb I would think tracks would have more vibration than a low PSI tire. I haven't been on a lot of tracked vehicles, but the few I have been on/in were all vibrating worse than tires.
I keep telling my dad to get a sherp for pumping sloughs in the spring. Just drive it in and throw the pump out the back. No more hip waders, getting stuck, wrecked back.
This is the perfect expedition vehicle, or to move with your family in the wilderness and take everything with you 😁👍🏼 Yeah the connection strong, but I think that if you load some weight into the back, it won't act like this, except the front! But it's a great idea to test, because the sherp for himself is awesome! The connection is stiff! Is it possible to regulate the pressure of the coupling!
Designed For Arctic , problem is not snow or ice but the warming of the permafrost . Thanks, good report. I drew a system to drive on road with diesel and Hydraulic power plan. Following my experience in the oil & gas industry. Avantages:no transmition shaft , each wheel is independant, torque control whith a remote control valve no electronic. Minimum of électronique. the weigt compared the classical system. Consomsion. I think a 200 HP Diesel is enought, kind regards.
The hydraulic tilt features were on Tracked Vehicle's used in Antartica to maneuver over Ice Ridges and Heaves. They were old technology because the ones I saw had Flathead engine's. The trailer also had it's own engine, and the Trailer's had enclosed Cabins.
i looked into it and apparently the 4 wheel version is special as it can climb up on ice from the water. something they could not do with a 6 wheeled one because it would not tip correctly, so thats why the 4 wheel one is a winner.
This looks like a illicit black market deal. "You bring the Sherp, Igor?" "Da, da, am having on trailer. You bringing ze vhiskey, comrade?" "It's in the back. Let's make the swap."
Dude that sherp 10x10 is fricken bad ass man I could see you buying one and putting a little outboard motor on the back and really ostacruise the lakes haha now that would be fricken sweet
I know that this was recorded back on the end of Spring or so,but damn you just picked up your new Can-am 6x6. You could wait just for a little bit till this gets on market, lol. Great video. I've been waiting for this one waay to long.
@@andban92 I was thinking the same thing but I'd want the crane on a rail so it could be used at any point from front to rear. Would be very useful in multiple scenarios.
Growing up in Germany it’s hard to imagine some people get a whole swamp as a private playground. Very few places to legally drive out those countless 4x4 „off-roaders“ parking everywhere in the city.
That's why we are highly likely to conquer western Europe very quickly due to a great amount of people who can drive such vehicles and large number of them))) joke. We never conquer first!
10x10 is awesome. I can only dream of the ark with duallies and 160gallon tanks in each wheel. Make a minimal camper in the back and just find some snow
David i came over from s×s blog to check you out brutha your channel kicks ass lol, plus i feel iv known yuh forever seein you with those guys all the time 😂 but im definitely a new sub here my man cant wait for new stuff!!🤙great channel bud i love it!!
@@GoatOffroad I'm dreaming hard ! Bv206 has been improved to a BV210 and I've already made a list of features I want on it ! Other dream - emigrate to Darwin area Australia, get a big plot of land , build a big house and have tigers as pets. What's your dream(s) ?
pmailkeey - move south (tired of the wet and cold) and explore the beautiful lands of Arizona, Colorado, and Utah. Dream of when my husband doesn’t have to work so hard so he can enjoy more time with me as we overland - or go on adventures in our Jeep! Dream of Retirement without money problems!! 🤗 In the beautiful sunny South!! ☀️ 🌴🥰 I’ve always wanted to visit Australia since I was a little girl! Maybe I could pet your tigers! 😄
@@GoatOffroad AZ etc. has been in my mind too as an alternative to Australia. Money's always a good one as it buys freedom. Totally agree about getting away from the cold - have absolutely no issues with the wet - providing it's warm wet ;) And of course I'll let you ask the tigers if they'll let you pet them ;)
You can keep your 4x4 and jeeps indoors and get out about with sherp I'd love to go on an camping trip in one they totally rock man I dont have one but I'm watching this and getting totally excited for you guys your so lucky it's cool man ... I'd would to go on a camping trip and tour for 2weeks in the wild man if you guys start camping trips or tours please let me know I'd defo go I live in the city man so holiday in a sherp on driving camp trip I'm up for it big time anyway peace guys well done I used to watch your first videos quads and jeeps glad you found sherp! Have you thought of making those back three wheelers for camper trips i bet no one has yet so people can rent out the back for trips out in the wild and nature ... you guys are thinking small about what loads to carry now think outside the box guys turn the back into camping space for those who would want to get out of city life I'd have to be your first customer ... how much would you charge for 1 week or 2 week camping holiday? In nature ? Renting out the back to your clients? Hmm!
Those are cool man what I'd like to have one of them and build a camper on the back part of it and have the camper run all off so solar and then you could go anywhere in camp anywhere
I don't want to swear on your channel, but,... That's fn lovely man, no wonder you are one of the happiest on RU-vid. We'll jealous. Cheers though osta, thanks for sharing, I've saw these sherp 10x10 before but now my boy osta has one I feel much better hahaha. Ps I still think you need to go see lars from survival Russia Channel, he his such a genuine dude, so nice, a proper good guy, check him out if you have time and have not seen his channel already. And while I'm here I'll take this opportunity to say... Take care out there brother. Thanks. 👍
Well the machine never gave you any alternatives so why should the old lady. Besides machines are always the best choice cause wife's will never run out of alternative's especially once they win one.
Cool, but I would have expected the draw bar to have been hinged at the trailer body - would still have allowed the centre steering but a LOT more vertical articulation over undulating terrain?
Suddenly P trail doesnt seem all that tough!!! That thing is an absolute beast. And with 6 more wheels you've got room for 6 more wheel fuel cans ... 150 gallons of reserve fuel plus the regular fuel tank .. thats the ultimate long range back country expedition machine.
The obvious option (to me) would be a gasoline engine in the back, then it would be the perfect apocalypse vehicle (I assume the main engine runs on diesel)
@@millomweb The 206 is good for what it was made for but it is nowhere even close to Sherp in terms of versatility of use. Take your 206 down P-Trail and show us the vid and then we can talk about how much better the 206 is than the Sherp. If the 206 was that much better, don't you think people would be buying the better machine? Fucking moron.
@@brians48now They have their heads buried in the snow. A local (to me) charity now has 4 of them and are raising money for a 5th. On the web, I've found: "More than 10,000 of these vehicles are in military service in 16 countries." Try taking your head out of the snow and opening your eyes. How many Sherps are there in the world ? A fraction of the Hagglunds.
