You should've waited to find a toolbox full of tooling at a swap meet! Just picked up an old Kennedy box full of tooling for lathes and mills for $70, I guarantee there's more than a grand worth in that thing and lathe tooling can be reused even after damaging the tips.

Congrats on the lathe mang. Shoulda bought a bigger tool box. You'll need it once you start making parts. Tooling has a way of multiplying.

Quick change tool post, and definitely move the Z when you're making chips. Lol You would have been a lot cooler if you got a southbend #9. Jk bad ass lathe brother, can't wait to sew what you do with it.

yea san jose, yes I can run a lathe. been up that rode all my life. nor cal swap was a flop last there.

awesome addition! Now that you have a lathe, you will wonder how you ever lived, or how anyone CAN live without a lathe! One piece of advice...don't get too hung up on fancy tooling and attachments....alot of it is just "stuff you need to store"....A 3 jaw, a 4 jaw...a decent tailstock chuck (one small, one larger), and stick with hand ground HSS cutting tools!! Don't get caught up in all of the inserts and quick change tooling...that's fine for production or super-serious maintenance shops....maybe, but its all expensive, and only saves time....thats not necessarily the goal of the "frugal and intelligent home-builder/biker" !! Stick to the basics and perfect them, and enjoy your new machine!
