We Dug Straight Down for an Entire Day... 

Matt: The resort is taking up all my time. I’m so busy. Also Matt: let’s dig a hole for three days for no reason. This is why we subscribe. Shenanigans.

We gotta come back and dig the other holes! I suspect what Angel was digging might branch off to another room… Mega cave is real, it’s just full of rocks somewhere on the ranch!😂 Or you can (should) come to our neck of the woods and we can show you some real caves😉

It’s weirdly hypnotic watching the cave slowly get bigger and bigger with each lowering and raising of the Big Blue Bucket. Mega cave is gonna be a great attraction and perfect wine cellar!

The much safer stage move was to JUST pull the trailer out, once the unit was simply raised a foot. Then just lower it straight down without risking moving forward or rearward at all.

This hole is honestly one of the more exciting series on this channel. The mystery about what you might find and seeing the progress each video of it getting bigger and bigger as well as a group of friends working on a common task.

Those first 5 minutes were adorable 😊 Jenna being giddy about cows, the cows building confidence and getting comfortable being fed, Matt being smart and responsible, it's moments like that which I watch this channel for. Just a bunch of happy people having a good time doing fun things 😊 It's a little funny watching Matt handle animals calmly and know what he's talking about since so much of his content is rather boisterous, somewhat over enthusiastic, potentially sketchy activities. It's easy to forget that he was a veterinarian and has a lot of experience with animals amidst his gun toting, cave exploring, booty snappling shenanigans 😂 Edit: And then we go straight from Matt being all responsible and competent with the cows to the... building? guestimation of construction? hoping for measurements? Peak content! 😂🤣😂

Please keep documenting the dig. If only so when its done and people visit you can have a qr code by the entrance so people can see the dig if they want. Its really cool to be able to see the process of discovering the cave.

I absolutely love the caving videos. The exploration and the unknown is fantastic! I didn’t want the video to end. If you get enough of these caves opened up, you could host events and have caving fans from all over the world come to explore, map and dig deeper and deeper! I think it would be awesome if you got the machinery to dig out your own caves. I feel like renting a small hand held jackhammer (rotary hammer) would be helpful. Keep them coming!

@mattcarriker As a third generation cattle rancher I have experience when it comes to cattle. Those cows are more afraid of you than you are of them however, they can smell your fear so if you are nervous around them then they can tell. I know that their horns look scary but if you’re just calm and careful they’ll calm down as well. As for petting them the likelihood of them allowing that is very small unless you are constantly around them showing them that they are safe and so are you. If you want petting cows it’s usually something you have to start doing from birth. I hope you get this and wish you all the best. I love y’all’s content and God bless you.

Love the cave dig, especially since we get to see all the awesome progress without having to load buckets and dig ourselves!

Just a thought, the slack in the rope is the distance you fall before it catches you. So don't make it longer than how far you are willing to fall onto ground or into the harness.

Digging a hole is very primal. The necessity aspect doesnt mather.

I love that the construction projects have become a boys club of Matt hickey and David screwing around while getting some work done (plus Jenna making sure no one dies from nearby and occasionally being one of the boys as well)

Imagine getting Sonar survey stuff to see if there is more voids. it can also tell the density of soil to tell between poor in dirt or solid rock.

There is something so satisfying watching a space be revealed, whether it is a cave or a new building

I'm sure you've already thought about this but given how long it'll probably take to get the resort actually up and operational I'd say you have plenty of time to gather other animals and raise them to be very socialised and have a semi operating ranch / petting zoo kind of thing ready to go for when the resort is officially operational.

I actually really enjoy watching you guys dig out these caves, please keep filming them, especially the longer format.

Look up a Rock Grapple/Rock Lift/Rock Tongs, the non-hydraulic ones that are hinge operated. You lay it around a rock, pull up and it bites around the boulder or whatever object. Super handy for this cave work, it can cut down on the drilling/anchoring, but also handy to have for around a resort for random work.

Matt, it is time to start considering Shotcrete. It's spray on concrete. They come out and literally use a hose to apply it to vertical or steeply sloped areas, like the pit you're digging. One you get it coated, you can have a very high level of confidence that NONE of the material around the entrance will come loose and tumble into your cave.
