2 weeks ago we installed massive 38 inch Milestar Tires on Rocktrix rims on our STOCK Suspension Jeep TJ! • Our Jeep Computer DIED... . We showed the absolute largest size tire that fits on a stock height jeep tj, literally pushing the wheel well to its limit!
On Today's episode, we show you, step by step, how we installed our 4 inch dual rate SkyJacker Lift kit with M95 shocks completely in our garage with tools that are affordable. Our goal was to make a video to help walk you through the entire install process, as well as show you the order of how we installed each part, giving you the confidence to attempt the job yourself.

You guys have a sweet TJ! I’m not here to bash on it but to provide some insight and advice to a fellow Jeeper. Some problems I can see that you guys may want to check into include: 1) Flex out the suspension and see what hits. Looks like you don’t have enough of a bump-stop for the tire size (especially for the rear). 2) The rear shocks are going to hit the spring perches when they’re fully compressed. Common TJ problem especially when adding a lift. You can get the shock relocation brackets for less then $50. 3) The skyjacker is a budget lift and a problem it doesn’t fix is the suspension geometry that results from raising the the frame away from the axle. As you go up in lift your wheelbase gets shorter. The skyjacker arms doesn’t correct this since they are the factory length. 4) For the future consider getting a set of adjustable control arms. This will really help set up better pinion angles and get your caster back into a factory spec. 5) Also when flexing out the Jeep check the length of brake lines. I didn’t see you guys swap them out within the video. Hope this helps and good luck on the build!!
@Garagecouple
@Garagecouple 4 года назад
Appreciate this very much! We will test out some of these and try to fix them if they need fixing. We have a set of adjustable uppers ready to go on. The skyjacker arms were a bit longer than the factory arms, we didn't realize it until after we made the video. Cheers

This is my 1st time tuning in & I'll keep it 100%...I saw Skyjacker, pavement princess wheels and yet another Jeep with them dang Patagonias and I was quick to pass judgment & dismiss it as another mall crawler build channel & was gonna keep it moving...not that there's anything wrong with all that, just not my cup of tea but y'all charisma & chemistry stopped me from moving on. Then I skimmed through the rest of your content and realized it isn't what I'd initially thought. Seems like y'all have ran the Jeep Life gamut & I almost passed judgement based on perception. Good stuff, keep up the good work.

Man that looks awesome. I have a 1999 Jeep Wrangler TJ sport in the same color. Right now it only has a 2 inch lift and 31s. I'm trying to find some rubicon axles (4:10) so I can add a 4 inch lift to it eventually and 33s or 35s. It will be going to college part 2 (masters) with me. This Jeep really is special because my parents have owned it every since I was born. They actually brought me home from the hospital in it, so it is crazy to think that I'm driving it. It's also pretty cool that you are a school teacher. My mom is an 8th grade math teacher and my dad is a 9th grade history teacher. I currently am a math tutor at my mom's school for 7th and 8th grade. Previously, I worked at my undergrad university as an Organic Chemistry, Chem 111, 112 and an Oceanography lab TA. Now, I have a teaching assistantship at my next university where I am getting my MS in Biology. I really hope I can find those upgraded axles before I leave for graduate school though. The Jeep currently has 3:07 gears and they suck. This university is wayyy up in the mountains and the elevation difference results in a large power difference than where I currently live.

Yeah, fortunately the dual rate springs keep things nice and stiff. We are planning on taking it to a fabricator and cutting the rear tub. Either that or a body lift. If we do a body lift it won't clear the garage lol!
@ItsMojoHQGaming
@ItsMojoHQGaming 4 года назад
@@Garagecouple metalcloak makes a mod cut mounting plate for your exact problem. All you need after you buy it is a grinder or dremel to cut away the tub, you shouldn't need to pay anyone for any fab work. However, I understand not wanting to cut up your car if you don't have experience. It would be a pain to mess it up.

Love this channel, love that y’all are Jeep lovers and Christ followers. Your Rubicon had an awesome stance on those 38’s without the 4” lift, so curious what made y’all want to lift it? Side note - I’m also running a 4” SkyJacker lift with 35’s on my white JK Wrangler and it’s smooth on the highway and fun & bumpy on city streets, so y’all made a nice choice. 27:35 Is that sway bar link backward? Also, with the trackbar/drop pitman arm - you want both the drag link and trackbar to be parallel. I think that by moving the trackbar over, you may need the drop pitman arm to achieve that.

The front bumpstops were factory. Nothing was welded. Should have installed the supplied extensions between the part u thought was welded on and the part you unsolved. Same as u did rear. Fronts are way longer

Aloha from the quarantined state of Hawai'i on the island of Oahu, been following you for a while, that is one sick looking ride, my question is, did you have to change your gearing, because if I'm correct your stock is 3.73, but now your running 38's...
@Garagecouple

I’m running the same 38” tires and would highly recommend re-gearing to 4.88 or lower. It’s night and day difference in daily driving and in the mountains here in Norcal. Fun video to watch!
@Garagecouple
@Garagecouple 4 года назад
Are you on auto or manual? Ours doesn't feel that bad!
@robbie8931-x5k
@robbie8931-x5k 4 года назад
Garage Couple it’s auto and the manuals do a better and somewhat more forgiving admittedly with bigger tires. I suspect it comes down to the type of area one daily drives. Here in the mountains regearing is needed and when offroad it gets our low crawl speeds back for the big rocks. Have a friend with a manual JLU on 35’s and looking at jumping to 37’s. His feeling is he will have to regear based on how the 35’s are doing but doesn’t hurt to try. But in the end, if it’s working then concentrate on other upgrades. Regearing isn’t cheap but if locker upgrades are needed, then it may be worth it at that time.

@@raybates3119 had to get an adjustable track bar and upper and lower adjustable control arm.. I had to get bump stops and now currently regearing my TJ to 4.88. Just bought some wheel adapters, Gusset kit, axle truss, and ball joints.. just need to buy some front big brake kits and then I'll be ready for my 37's.. oh yea. I'm also buying those supermicrochips for some extra horsepower and torque.. damn this thing is work just to put some 37s on
@raybates3119
@raybates3119 3 года назад
@@kkim1177 Yeah. I have a 4" Skyjacker lift on my 02 TJ and I only run 33's. It has the optional Dana 44 so it has 3.73 gears and the 33's seem at home there. I had 37's on my 2018 JL Rubcon with 4.10's and 4" lift. The lift was perfect and the gearing was around town but we put it back to stock and 35" Dick Cepek Extreme Terrain MT's. Unless you are going to off road a majority of the time, that factory Rubicon suspension is hard to beat.

That is the stock bump stock....it comes that way from Jeep. You were supposed to take that bolt out, add that spacer and reinstall a longer bolt. If you don’t have enough bumpstop your tires may rub.
@Garagecouple
@Garagecouple 4 года назад
Our green tj doesn't have that bumpstop actually! If we added the extender on top of that extension it would be nearly touching with no flex

I’m just trying to help you so you aren’t spreading misinformation. Also, you are calling the washer on the front control arms a Cam. Most TJs didn’t come with cams from the factory, they came with washers like yours. The slots and horse shoes are there so cams can be added at a later time if needed
@Garagecouple
@Garagecouple 4 года назад
Always appreciate the info! Our bump stop on our 2001 doesn't look like that! We assumed all the tjs were the same. As for the cam bolt, much appreciated!
