It's strongly recommended to watch the MCU movies in order of release, going phase by phase (Phase 1, Phase 2, Phase 3, etc.) They do lots of world building and character work that might not make sense if you watch them in a different order. This is particularly important when it comes to the end credits scenes, which usually hint at the very next or an upcoming movie in release order.
Well, Tony is not supposed to be 21 in the movie. What they mean is that he was 21 when he took over the company. They are essentially giving a summary of his career since then to motivate why he is getting an award. :) Great reaction, guys, thanks for sharing your awesome with us
In real life, Burger King saved RDJ and his career. They implemented that into the movie. He once has a cheeseburger that was so bad it made him come to his senses. He got rid of all his drugs, reshaped his life, and became an incredible actor.
Aside from metatextual context, Burger King has franchises with the military and you will find them on all the bases. So when Tony asked to get a cheeseburger, Burger King was the most likely option at the air base they were in.
EXCITED for you guys to start this MCU journey ! I was a little ass kid watching this on a portable dvd player I got for Christmas. PLEASE stay for the post credit scenes! All these marvel movies have them. Some have more than one !

Welcome to the MCU! You two are great. :) Not sure which order you're planning on watching the movies but if you can, try to watch them in order of their release date so the story unfolds like it's supposed to. Iron Man came out in May 2008, The Incredible Hulk came out in June 2008, then Iron Man 2 in 2010, Thor first in 2011, then Captain America: The First Avenger later in 2011, The Avengers in 2012, etc. If you watch them in RELEASE order, instead of MCU TIMELINE order, then the post-credit scenes will help set up the next movies in line. And as others have said, there'll be mid-credits scenes and post-credits scenes in a lot of them, so make sure you watch until they're fully finished! Can't wait to see your next reaction!
Even more amazing is the years before Iron Man, Robert Downey Jr. had on-off trouble finding work, and there were those who had serious doubts about his ability to control his vices and stay coherent enough to do movies. I think it's safe to say he proved all of them resoundingly wrong. And lord knows he IS Tony Stark, I could never see ANYONE else in the role. But when he was first cast in the role, it was a controversial choice.
In my opinion it's the single greatest casting decision ever made. I'm not a Marvel fanboy but I can acknowledge when someone makes a masterful decision like that.
Yeah, if it wasn't for infamous piece of shit Mel Gibson, Robert Downey Jr may not have a career today. After his addiciton to cocaine and other drug charges, Rob was basically blacklisted due to being unreliable and uninsurable. Mel Gibson paid his (expensive) insurance bond for The Singing Detective, which then allowed him to get Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and then Tropic Thunder. Without that, he never would have been Iron Man.
@@FormaAlertmarvel has some of the strongest castings ever, seriously. Loki, Tony, T’challa, Thanos, Killmonger, Kamala, Fury, Cap, Namor, the list goes on. Regardless of how you feel about the movies themselves, the castings are just so damn perfect.
@@FormaAlertThe only reason everything thinks he's the greatest casting is because no ones every done the role. The first is always remembered, even if it's not accurate. The closest we've gotten to a comic accurate IM was IM2. Tony is not a likeable guy. As soon as the MCU got big RDJ stopped acting like Tony and just played RDJ. The character is extremely different in later films. It then goes by generations when new actors take over. Ask a 60yo his favorite Batman and then ask a 15yo. Ask them their favorite Spider Man. Nostalgia is stronger than accuracy
I'm glad you enjoyed "Iron Man." It is still one of my favorite comic book movies. I strongly recommend that you continue watching in release order, not chronological, to avoid spoilers.
Well, to be fair, Burger King has had a franchise vendor deal with the Air Force. More often than not the only burger joint you see on a base is a Burger King, so it's consistent here because that's the closest place Stark could get one from the airfield.
@@BogeyTheBear I'm also a victim of the "Forced Entertainment Network." LOL! U.S.M.C. Camp Kinser. BK... Would run down to Naha to the "Macadewnaldoes."
One of the coolest things about the MCU is how connected and detailed stories are. There are a lot of Easter eggs that make watching the MCU really fun
I’m really excited for you to be starting this journey. You can’t even begin to imagine how this whole thing comes together to be one of the most amazing series of movies and endings ever.
You're in for a great ride. There aren't any really weak movies but don't feel bad if not all of them land for you. Definitely watch them in RELEASE order because things will make much more sense. Enjoy!!
Here for it! 1 of my favorite reaction channels starting the MCU journey. Having enjoyed a lot of your reactions so far, I’m hyped for you guys to invested! Lol.
Here we go!!! Welcome to Phase 1 of the MCU! You are both in for a long, but an incredibly amazing journey. Fun Fact for you two: The actor who plays Tony's driver Happy is also the director of this movie and "Iron Man 2". And that's actor/director Jon Favreau. Fun Fact #2: Tony's "I am Iron Man" line at the end was improvised by Robert Downey Jr. Also, be sure to watch the mid and/or end credits after each movie. They set up a future movie. Up next in the MCU is the 2008 "The Incredible Hulk". Looking forward to the next reaction. 😊
Loved your reaction to this movie! Especially your shock and surprise at seeing Obadiah Stane in cahoots with the Ten Rings. Viewers who are comics-savvy -- or at least somewhat knowledgeable about Marvel history, like me -- suspected from the start that Stane would be a bad guy, so we kind of saw the reveal coming. To watch people coming to these stories with fresh eyes is a real treat. So glad that you enjoyed the first step in this journey. The MCU is one of my favourite things in movies, and I'm looking forward to your next reaction. See you at "The Incredible Hulk"!
So happy you guys saw the post credit scenes this time. Love your reactions! It‘s such a cool way to keep people in the theater and appreciate the people working on it in the credits. Marvel really changed that. Iron Man was the kinda the last chance for RDJ, glad he took it. The MCU wouldn‘t be the same without him. Tony Stark‘s super power is definitely his ingenuity. Or as Allen Tsai would put it: „Tony learns from his mistakes“
2:24 But if I were Tony, I would tell you how honored I feel and what a joy it is to receive this very prestigious award. Tony, you know-- The best thing about Tony is also the worst thing. 2:26
19:48 Knowing more about military technology and equipment now. It makes the people complaining that Tony didn't use that little tank destroying missile against Stane silly. Tony used that armor piercing missile to detonate the *tank's ammo storage.* The tank is also stationary. No such easily targetable area exists on Stane's suit. Then there's the fact that Stane ripped off Tony helmet. Rendering him unable to effectively aim said missile. Lastly. He was rushing to save Pepper. Tony had no idea Stane had a suit of his own. The suit Tony used in the final fight wasn't rearmed with dangerous munitions for obvious safety reasons. Having only the repulsors and the safe countermeasures it has built-in like the chaff & flare dispersers.
I'm excited to find out who your favorite characters are by phase 3. My boyfriend went from not caring about superheros to having an obsession with like 5 characters. They are all written so well
Great video! In terms of watch order, it's best to watch the MCU in the order the films/TV shows were released. This means that The Incredible Hulk (2008) is the next film on your list.
Great job, you two are great! I'm so excited you are taking this journey. As others have said, the movies are meant to be watched in release order to avoid spoilers. It's challenging to avoid spoilers at this point, so if you can avoid looking too far ahead or checking out future movie posters that would be ideal. I can't wait for you to see where this all goes!
You two are so fun to watch! I'd love to see you react to some fun comedies like This is the End or Sausage Party, the "Cornetto Trilogy" (Hot Fuzz is SUCH a great movie) or some good dramas like American History X, Heat or The Shining!
OMG what a journey you are starting! Hope you like the MCU. Two recommendations: 1) almost every movie has postcredit scenes, you may wanna watch them and 2) watch the movies in the release order
Post credit scenes are important so be sure to watch em. Phases 1-3 are golden. Phase 4 was ok, 5 is off to a rocky start but I have faith it’ll get better
Agreed, the first 3 phase Saga was amazing, 4 was hit and miss but had some gems, and 5 is starting off rocky but even the Infinity Saga took a while to reach peak. I'm just glad we finally have an overarching story building now, I believe they'll find their footing.
the mark 2 test scene was so cool. that'd be so sick to have the resources to and design your own suit like that and actually have it THAT high-tech and functional
nice..new reactors to the MCU..im gonna enjoy this..hope u enjoy the journey..its long and ongoing..hope you're here to stay..ur in Phase 1 with 6 movies, phase2 had 6 movies also, Phase3 have 10movies..and Phase1-3 is called the Infinity Saga..Phase4 have 7 movies, 8 shows, 1 shorts, and 2 specials..we are currently in Phase5 with a movie.. reminders: 1. stay with the release order (for 1st time watchers) 2. stay til the credits 3. look out for stan lee cameos next is the Incredible Hulk movie..enjoy the ride guys..
Fun fact! They have the car he landed in at a museum in Elkhart, Indiana. It is called the Hall of heroes. Tons of Marvel and DC items props and movie stuff!
Your going to love the MCU roller coaster. Just make sure you stick to watching all the MCU films in order they were released, as there are interlinking bits & long running story lines in the background of all of them that lead to the next released film.
Loved y'alls reaction to this. I enjoy seeing people watch this for the first time. Keep up with the reactions to the MCU but yeah try to do em in order so it makes more sense, you'll probably enjoy it more and you're right about RDJ, he's the best actor they could've picked for this role
When Disney plus was announced I was exited because you can do way more with a tv show than a movie and there’s certain characters that would work more in tv show, Moon Knight for example and now seeing how much they milked and focused on quantity and their screenplays are trash I regret it, most movies of Phase 4 and now Phase 5 are below average. They need to use Secret War to reset the timeline like in the comics and do a soft reboot, maybe even recast the originals Avengers and use the mutant to be the center of the MCU forward giving them solo movies for some of the characters that really needs them and eventually do the real Civil War by having the X-Men in there.
Can't wait to see your reactions to all the MCU movies and make sure to watch the end credits of all the movies they all are tied in together from this movie to the latest one.
Thats like the second or third time I see someone express surprise about the beginning of the movie. Theres a reason Iron Man created an entire cinematographic super hero universe out of nowhere. Its really good.
I am Ssoo excited you guys are reacting to the MCU and I see what you guys think plus after Iron Man came My personal favorite superhero since I was 5 years old which is The Incredible Hulk and then after either Thor or it was Iron Man 2
Great reaction! I love the looks of deep suspicion Vince has at times in this reaction. 😀All on target too. 😀 I'm late to this because I've seen your later reactions and now I'm heading back to start at the beginning with you. I love that they basically adapted the actual origin story from the comics for this, just updating it from the Vietnam War to the Middle East. Even down to his fellow prisoner/assistant sacrificing himself to give Tony the time to get the Iron Man suit moving. The first Iron Man suit here even looked exactly like the original from the comics. And, really, they couldn't have picked a more perfect actor to play Tony Stark. With RDJ's foolishness in his twenties and his well publicized addiction and recovery, he knows a lot of the life that Tony embraces at the start of the movie. Shallow, transitory, and ultimately forgettable. Which makes Yinsen's assessment all the more accurate and telling: "The man who has everything . . . and nothing." I love how well Tony's development is written and how perfectly RDJ plays him. For an initial chapter to the MCU they made it perfectly. The start of a long three phases of movies that for the most part were near perfect.
I'd forgotten just how good the music was in this movie until i saw that the composer was Ramin Djawadi who did all of the music for Game of Thrones. No wonder it was so good it's just to bad he hasn't done any other Marvel movies in the mcu. Also poetic that the first mcu movie ends with a sky beam. 🤣
17:55 I get it now! He's all pop culture references! He calls her Carrie, instead of Christine because they're both Stephen King novels that were turned into popular movies.
