Multiple superheroes in the same movie used to be a dream that many thought would never happen. Now it's a regular occurrence. The Avengers truly changed the game!
Yep. It did it successfully. X-men movies tried but a few characters always suffered a bit. Avengers showed it was possible to do it and feel like everyone got a lot of screen time
@@terrygracy8345i was gonna say theres the x men. But they didn’t know how to give other characters good amount of screen time to shine like they did with the Avengers. Sometimes it can feel overwhelming making a movie with multiple main characters but marvel did it very well here. Bravo
We got what we dreamed of, yet it’s made some people miserable over how much they hate it, DCEU fandom being a prime example lol, and some hardcore Marvel fans who only read the comics and think ALL of these movies are garbage 😂
So glad I don't work today. Nowadays, the notion of multiple heroes showing up together in movies feels trivial, but this was a real big deal when this movie came together, and they completely delivered.
True still remember my first time seeing this, thanking a Justice League movie would 4sure be possible now. Every time a see a new reactor watch this im reminded of how big this was back then.
It’s so funny watching this, when the movie first came out it felt like this is as big and ambitious as a franchise could get… and now after everything marvel’s delivered, this actually feels kinda quaint
Iron Man 3 (2013), Thor: The Dark World (2013), Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), Ant-Man (2015). That is the MCU Phase 2 movies in a row.
I wanted to recommend watching both Guardians movie first since Avengers 1 introduced us to aliens first. Then Thor the dark world. Iron man 3 seems to flow better into Captain America Winter soldier and then into Age of ultron. As long as Guardians 1 and 2 are watched before infinity war it doesn't really matter where they are placed. its better not to ruin the flow of all the Earth based movies
There’s a little detail that I wish I could say I spotted on my own, but someone had to point it out to me; I probably never would have clocked it on my own. When Shield is getting folks together, Coulson visits Tony, and gives him data to upload to to his computer; because of course. When Fury goes to get Cap, he hands him a folder…because that’s how it was done in the 40’s. The big stuff is epic, but the attention to detail is top flight.
To be completely fair, Tony probably just didn't read the file because that's the type of guy he is. As a result, Coulson probably gave him the data as a second try that actually appeals to Tony to try and convince him.
I still get chills every time that group shot comes around. Ngl, I get lightweight jealous whenever I watch these first time reactions because there's no way to go back to 2012 and relive the moments for the first time like y'all are. BUT I am much more excited for the rest of your MCU journey. It gets so much better and bigger than you think it is now. Back then you'd be crazy to think that we'd get all these, "chapters" of various superheroes with their own stories and trials that all converge in one big movie. It was only a dream for many a comic book fan.... and they pulled it off in spades. This was THE PINNACLE of comic book movies come to life.
facts I still remember watching this in the movies with my cousins when I was 11 it was a badass movie then and it still is watching this reaction I noticed alot of things I missed as a kid
One subtle thing that I really like about this movie is how they made things for Natasha and Bruce's first meeting. 5 minutes before they meet, you see Natasha in a stressful situation where she's in danger, and she clearly don't care at all. No stress, no struggle, she's really good at what she's doing. And then, when Bruce fake his tantrum, you can see that Natasha struggle to put her sh*t together, she's absolutely terrified of him (And I mean, for good reasons lol). But that's a subtle way to show how even someone like Natasha can't stay calm because of the absolute destruction that this guy could cause.
This movie was the one who changed the entire MCU This movie was the one who made MCU the biggest franchise of all time and highest grossing franchise All started from this movie 🔥🔥🔥
Be careful that some MCU movies have more than one post credits scene. This movie has one more post credits scene besides the one who saw which is the Avengers eating shwarma in a restaurant.
@@motodork Iron man 2 end credits (scene from Thor), Doctor strange 1 end credits, Doctor Strange 2 end credits, iron man 3 end credits is not important.
@@motodorkstrange 2 has one that’s literally just a trailer. I agree you pretty much always need to see the first one, but very rarely does the second amount to anything.
A friend is an extra in this! You can see her at 9:56 on the far left. Blonde frizzy hair in the middle. They filmed in Cleveland. It was her birthday. She was also in Ides of March, directed by George Clooney.
The Avengers was a great way to end Phase 1. Things start ramping up once we hit Phase 2, especially when we hit The Winter Soldier, which is in my top 3 all time MCU movies.
Agreed upon this. Phase 1 was introduction of characters leading up to the Battle of New York and the creation of the Avengers. Phase 2 begins the concept of enemies from within and the Avengers and characters creating their own set of problems for themselves.
Fun fact: the security guard who finds Bruce Banner aka the hulk and ask him if he is an Alien, is actually the late actor Harry Dean Stanton who acted in 1979 Alien. Stanton also acted in "the green mile" as the janitor and acted in 1981 "Escape from New York" with Kurt Russell. He passed on Sept 15, 2017.
I remember I saw this in theaters with my dad and it was such an awesome experience seeing these heroes come together for the first time. A true blockbuster.
I remember the long wait for this movie from 2011 to 2012, the trailers and advertisements only made me all the more excited. Then, one Friday night, my friends and I went to the theater and saw it with a huge crowd. It was a moment in history that I got to experience and one that I will never forget.
1 thing I like about the whole series is they show cap continue to get stronger and faster and tougher ! His limits are supposed to be ambiguous and u get to watch him progress slowly and his and Tony's character growth is amazing !
seeing these two grow...theyre two sides of the same coin, just like Steve & Natasha are 2 sides of the same coin. and I love how much respect they're showing Agent Hill!
I can never get tired of this film. Nothing gets my blood pumping more than seeing this epic crossover. I still get chills at the shot of all of them together. I couldn't stop laughing the first time I've seen Hulk throwing Loki around either.
A common trope in the comics when teams or individual characters meet for the first time is that they fight it out till they figure out what each other wants or is doing, then they team up if they have common goals. So Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America fighting it out in the woods is in keeping with comic book "tradition". It is worth noting that technically, Bruce Banner is arguably more of a genius than Tony Stark, at least in the comics. Tony just gets more cred because his genius is demonstrated visually through the many gadgets he creates, while Bruce's creations aren't exactly visual outside of turning into something green and super angry. When it comes to Hulk, the angrier he is, the stronger he is, and he can get nearly infinitely angry. He once got so angry that he bench pressed a freaking MOUNTAIN over his head to keep it from crushing him and other Avengers. He was once put into a bubble force field that was so strong that it was equal in weight and energy of the entire Earth, and he got angry enough to break it and move it. So there technically is no limit to Hulk's strength. Cap is not a genius like Stark or Banner, but he is a master strategist. He's also quite versed in multiple disciplines of martial arts. At least in the comics. Black Widow, at least at one time in the comics, was said to be a child in WWII, and had run ins with Captain America and Wolverine before joining the Avengers. I think this was retconned though. She has no powers, but she is a master spy, a master of disguise, and her martial arts prowess almost rivals Cap. Again, this is at least according to the comics. Hawkeye used to be a criminal and once was a trick shot in a circus until he was reformed and joined the Avengers. In the comics, particularly Avengers #1, Loki was the first villain the Avengers took on, but their line up was quite different from the movie. If I recall right, the line up was Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Ant Man/Giant Man (same guy), and Wasp. Captain America didn't join up until issue 3 or 4. Like I said, these are what was in the comics. I worked in a comic shop for nearly 10 years, and although I was more versed in the X-Men comics than Avengers, I know a decent amount about both. The comics are vastly different, with some similarities, to the MCU. It probably would come across as too cheesy if they did it exactly like the comics, or it would only appeal to the die hard comic book fans and leave out all the "normies".
It's worth noting that the MCU is a more grounded, toned-down and "believable" universe compared to the comics, and power levels for the top-end characters are lower. In the MCU Thor was introduced as a 1500 year old alien whose race was worshipped by primitive Vikings as gods. He and Hulk are extremely strong, far above the other Avengers in this movie- but nowhere close to their strength level in the comics. The same is true for the power levels of many villains (including Loki).
Loved the reaction. Just going to let you know though, starting with this movie you have to be on the lookout for multiple end credit scenes. This movie had 2, and most do after this point, but some also have 3, so keep an eye out and keep up the good work
the relationship between the characters in this is honestly the most genius part...Iron Man to Captain America is like "everything special about you came out of a bottle...if it wasn't for my dad you wouldn't exist.' Captain's reply: if it wasn't for your suit you wouldn't either. technically Tony knew somethings about the Avengers...he permitted the use of his technology in trying to capture the Hulk, in Incredible Hulk the vehicles used to capture him were from Stark Industries.
Director himself said the scepter was influencing them to argue in the DVD commentary. Basically, it made whatever inhibition they had to hold back those comments go out the window. Like when drunk people argue and say the mean things they hold back when they are sober.
that security guard where Hulk/Banner landed is played by Harry Dean Stanton. he also can also be seen in the movie Alien (1979). which is why his line questioning if The Hulk being an alien is humorous.
Fun Fact: Tony always learns from his mistakes. example in iron man 2 Whiplash subdues Tony's suit with electricity but in The Avengers Tony made his suit Electric Proof and charges his suit.
Now we’re talking! I remember this movie being such a big deal and seeing it in theaters was something else. It really did change the game. Hulk is my favorite and such a badass in this 👊🏽🤘🏽
I appreciate you both for hyping up and supporting all the heroes. I feel like many reactors hate on Hawkeye and I am here just to re-experience (through you all) what it was like to watch these for the first time. So, thank you!
37:34 Ashley Johnson is in this movie fun fact. If you guys watch The Last of Us tv show she plays a big part in shaping the story (well mostly from the video games).
I saw this live in theatres, the shot where Hulk transforms and one-hit kills a leviathan made my theatre literally lose its mind. People were going ape shit. Then the iconic group shot...classic.
Great reaction, guys! I loved how much fun you had with this! As Vince mentioned, there are decades of source material for the MCU to draw from. In all the movies, there are Easter eggs and other nods to the comics, and spotting them is part of the fun for those of us who have some knowledge of them. You've reached the end of Phase 1! More and more stories lie ahead, and as I'm sure you realize, the mid-credits stinger points to a villain even further in the background than Loki and the Chitauri. In the words of Stan Lee, "Excelsior!"
oooh, I just now saw when Thor and Loki were fighting on the roof, Loki says "it's too late", he plunged a knife into Thor, and tears flow from his eyes. He was under the influence of the scepter
Man, the comics are even more insane because the characters from the MCU and X-men are in the same universe in the comics, whereas when this movie came out they were owned by separate companies and therefore couldn't appear together.
i remember watching this in theaters. one of the most special experiences of my life. no cap. I had never seen something like this before. i couldnt believe what i was seeing. shit was lit.
Just in case you miss the other comments… you missed the final end credit scene in this one! Some MCU movies have a lot of them, so you have to watch to the very end to be sure. 👍
You are right, in the comics each character will have their own series and sometimes cross over and then they will be on a team like the avengers. They decided to compress and simplify the comics and adapt them into these movies. The original avengers came together much like they did in this movie. Separate characters and series until someone brought them together. In the comics, it's Rick Jones, hulk's some time side kick. If I recall correctly, hulk was the first villain of sorts controlled by Loki. So in a way, this is a fairly good adaptation of that first comic. The biggest difference is that instead of Hawkeye and black widow, it was ant man and the wasp. Also captain America wasn't part of the team though he is such an icon, it would be hard not to have him in and lead the avengers.
It was Thor, hulk, tony, antman and wasp vs Loki. Comic Loki is a lot stronger than the mcu version. Even though Thor and others are kind of underpowered I think Loki got it the worst as far as being a lot weakwr
You will not be disappointed! This movie is where many things come together and give a lot of back stories of the Avenger characters which branch out to other movies, before and after this movie.
You gotta realize how big of a risk this was for Marvel at the time. A superhero crossover like this had NEVER been done! With this movie Marvel also stumbled on an actual formula for the perfect superhero movie. Cap v winter soldier, cap civil war, black panther, infinity war, end game, doc strange, guardians of galaxy 1&2, Thor ragnarok... all follow the "formula" and are mind-bendingly great. All started from here 👍 enjoy the ride
I love these movies and can't wait for yall to get into phase 3 cuz the movies get so epic and good! But next movies you should watch after The Avengers in chronological release date order is: Iron Man 3, Thor The Dark World, Captain America The Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers Age of Ultron, Ant-Man, Captain America Civil War, Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Spider-Man Homecoming, Thor Ragnarok, Black Panther, Avengers Infinity War, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Captain Marvel, Avengers Endgame, and Spider-Man Far From Home. Those are the movies to watch in order for the MCU Infinity Saga!
8:57 just a little fun fact: that building, at least the outside of it, is actually located in downtown Cleveland, Ohio. I was working in that building for Sherwin-Williams, Inc. in 2011 when this was being filmed. I had to walk by the set to catch the bus home when I was working there on a contract. I was there the night they filmed the Captain America versus Loki fight. Also, the end fight in the city was at least partially filmed in Cleveland as well. I walked by the set and saw all the fake rubble that they used as set dressing. It was amazing at the time, considering this movie was something that everybody was waiting for. At that time, it was the biggest movie ever. You couldn’t go a day without somebody talking about it.
Nice! Emily Blunt was going to play the role of Black Widow, but turned it down because she thought that she wasn't going to get a larger paycheck like he co stars. Her future husband, John Krasinski, was going to play the role of Captain America, but walked out of audition, telling Chris Hemsworth, "Good luck, man."
Are you sure? I thought Blunt wanted to do Iron Man 2, but she was forced by Fox to star in Gulliver's Travels instead because she was still under contract with them. And Krasinski didn't walk out on anything. He was their 2nd choice to play Cap, but they wanted Chris Evans instead.
black tie events. i got onto mailing lists on local museums. whenever they had an art opening i received an invite. i put on my tuxedo and go for the fine atmosphere, free food, and wine. every fall is opening season.
I love how, by the team-up shot, everyone in the team are visibly dirty and their suits are worn out from the battles... except Cap, who somehow has the cleanest suit to ever exist.
Great reaction! To my mind, Shoshana would make an awesome Maria Hill for y'all's next Halloween. She is such a kick ass character and really is Nick Fury's second in command, though Agent Coulson pops (popped?) up more and gets (got?) more screen time. And if Shoshana plays Hill, then Vince gets to be Fury, and who doesn't want to be Sam Jackson? 😀 Natasha/Black Widow and Clint/Hawkeye have always been my favorite MCU Avengers. They were basically just normal people who were trained to be beyond awesome at what they do. And their history together has made them closer than family, closer than a couple. I always love their moments together. "You and I remember Budapest very differently." 😀 And, in many ways, they are the Avenger parents, trying to somehow keep the calm between the often squabbling tyros who make up the rest of the Avengers. 😀I love them. And the plus side to Shoshana as Black Widow instead of Maria Hill is that Vince doesn't have to wear the eyepatch. 😀 Keep up the great reactions!
How strong is Cap? Can casually kick a car, truck or SUV into the parking spot next to it. Cap can dodge close range gunfire from handguns and smgs. Cap shield is meant to be indestructible as well as being capable of both absorbing and redirecting almost all forms of energy. Top speed is roughly 50-60mph(these are roughly the same stats as Black Panther as well) and agility is basically cat -like, but on 100. If he stops training, like, just lives a regular ass life, he will actually legit lose his powers. It's how the Serum for super soldiers works in the comics
I've seen the entire MCU about a dozen times, and it's been a long time since I felt the excitement of this Avengers movie. But watching you guys react to it, and getting all excited and hyped up, reminded me of the time I went to watch these movie in theaters back in 2012. I cant't wait to see you react to a lot of scenes of the MCU that are running around in my mind right know. I love how well written is this movie, every single comment has a reason, it could be as a joke later on in another scene (the 10 bucks between Cap and Fury, "That guy is playing galaga", the "ant/boot" line between Loki and Fury) or as a scene (the Stark Tower, Coulson's vintage cards). And they also made it so well that you don't know who might be the strongest, you watch them being awesome by themselves, against each other, and as a team. I simply love this movie. Your next movie if you're going in release order, would be Iron Man 3, then Thor: The Dark World. And don't worry Shashana, there are a lot of female characters in the Avengers that you can dress up as for Halloween, you just have to keep watching the MCU ;)
Lines I always to back to Tony and Steve's back and forth on the helicarrier from steve's big man in a suit of armour, to tony's everything special out of you came out of a bottle. Fury's tossing coulsons bloody cards at steve telling him, guess he never got you to sign those. To the old german guy saying there will always be men like you. Loki saying on the mountain I remember a shadow, living in the shade of your greatness. I remember you tossing me into an abyss, I who was and should be king! To my all time favorite which I use almost daily when i hear something I don't agree with, I recognise the council has made a decision, but given that it's a stupid-ass decision, I've elected to ignore it. But right in the feels is after coulsons death right where he died tony and steve have a conversation Is this the first time you've lost a soldier? tony almost breaks WE ARE NOT SOLDIERS! I am not marching to Fury's fife! as he looks to steve the super soldier who's been in the trenches and been in war, and who has outlived everything/everyone he probably knew.
As a tidbit, while Loki was monologing at the Hulk, the crew had a roped tied to his leg and was told to yank it whenever during his rant. So the panicked look as he falls is real.
I know this video was a while ago and this comment will probably go unnoticed but The Avengers is my favourite movie of all time and it puts a smile on my face every time I see someone new react to it for the first time. 😂❤
Still the best final battle in a Superhero movie for my money. It didn't bite off more than it could chew, we get a sense of stakes and scale, we see the heroes exercising the full extent of their abilities, and everyone shines.
Lightning doesn't work on Tony anymore thanks to his encounter to Whiplash with those electrical whips that messed him up, "because Tony learns from his mistakes."
People are always surprised at Hulk and how strong he is. Hulk once held a planet together. Literally. He just straight up jumped in there and held two tectonic plates together with his bare hands. I am not kidding.
This is only the beginning of the MCU, you have only seen the first 6 movies out of a total of 31 films and 8 series to date. You still have a lot to see and much more spectacular.
You two are so fun to watch reacting to movies! Especially these, since these are fun movies to begin with! And they are getting better! Can't wait for the next ones!
Late to the party on the reactions but when Tony says about the guy playing galaga that was improv and they added it in to the movie of the shot of him playing the game
I really enjoyed ‘Avengers’ and its was fun. It was just great to see all these Superheroes fight despite their faults and way of thinking but in the end they come together and fight to save the world🔥. The whole cast was amazing in this film such as Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Scarlet Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, Cobie Smulders, Stellan Skarsgård and Samuel L Jackson🤩😁. Loved the action sequences🔥. Tom Hiddleston did a great job as the antagonist. Loved your reaction, take care and have a good one❤️
Aw when Shosana said she's gonna be Black Widow just because there are no other girls. I hope she likes the rest of the female avengers because Im just starting the journey with this channel
I grew up enjoying the Spider-Man films, though I didn’t understand much of what was happening then at the time. I would also watch X-Men in parts, but I also didn’t comprehend it all. As I got older, I paid attention to those stories and enjoyed them more for it. I bring this up because I originally got into Iron Man and the Avengers because of the comedy. Tony has a knack for landing the best jokes at the most inappropriate times. Next thing I knew, some time after this movie got introduced to the world, they created a TV show called Agents of SHIELD. That’s when I realized it was time to invest in the overall story of the MCU as well.
@@Saje3D Why is it that a lot of people are not really into the episodic type of storytelling in tv shows? Everyone got so used to the concept of binging shows on Netflix that they forget shows in the 80s and 90s used to be episodic. Buffy, Angel, Firefly, CSI, CSY New York, CSI Miami and so on and so on. I think its important to grasp Joss Whedon's style of story telling to actually enjoy the first season of Agents of Shield.
I can't believe u guys haven't seen all these 🤷♂️ they just get better and better ! Every new movie and character still being introduced till the end is amazing to and your in for a real treat I'm actually jealous u get to watch them all for the first time cause it will never be done this good again 🥺
No spoilers, but the character revealed in the end credit scene was an Easter Egg for all the Marvel Comic nerds who recognized him immediately. Glad you're enjoying your trip through the Marvel Universe.
Your reaction to this movie is how we, as Marvel fans, reacted to the first three phases of the MCU (imagine having to wait a year, at least, between movies as well). Enjoy phase 2 and 3 because, sadly, for a variety of reasons it does not hold up. Bless Disney though, they had a solid decade we can always look back and share with reverence with subsequent generations. That truly a miracle in and of itself
The Scepter wasnt making them angry with each other, they were all just arguing with each other thats all . Lol this was they first time working together so they were just a lil frustrated .
Just a suggestion. Now would be the best time to start a show called Agents of Shield. It takes place right after the Avengers movie. It's a big commitment as it is 7 seasons but it would be nice if you could squeeze in just the pilot.
Actually, the events of the first episode of "Agents of Shield" take place right after "Iron Man 3". Centipede is the same stuff that's in "Iron Man 3". It's even referred to as Ex------ in the pilot episode.
I got emotional watching back the movie with you guys ❤🙏🏽thank you , so many great memories and your genuwine first reaction and genuwine enthusiasm make me so happy , so wholesome!! cant wait to follow the rest of your MCU journey #TeamIronMan
I searched for first time reactions to this movie on RU-vid just to try and vicariously relive that moment of Hulk slamming Loki into the ground and this was the first result!
This is what I love about the (old)MCU so much. They tght of all the details. The heroes dont know about each other so ofc Thor will do his thing and try to detain Loki while the rest think he’s saving him. Then the clashes between their personalities is just a chefs KISS 🔥🔥🔥
Love re watching these with you guys brings back so much nostalgia, Please keep it up because the MCU just gets better and better from here on out. Iron Man 3 is next then Thor 2. Much love
