WE FIXED SUZUKI'S PERFORMANCE ISSUES!!! (LET THEM KNOW!)
Do you have a 200 SS Suzuki Outboard and you are not happy with the performance of it on your bass rig? Suzuki has the fix for you...because we told them. You are welcome! Did you repower with a 250 SS and you lost 10 MPH and your dealer has no idea what prop you should run? Don't worry, we have that info for you too. Suzuki owe's a lot to all of us, the Team Marine family. All of us sharing our information in the comment section, email and in person helped us fix Suzuki's performance issues. Know it's time to let Suzuki know that! Comment below if we've helped you in anyway with your Suzuki outboard or if someone else in the comment section has helped you or turned you onto a Suzuki outboard. Also comment below if you think that River Run would be a cool idea. Thanks for all of your guys' support over the years. TOGETHER WE CAN DO ANYTHING!!!

Hi Team Marine, US NAVY veteran here, fan of your videos, you have me convinced to repower with Suzuki, wish I was closer to have you do the install. I wish there were more people like you that are as enthusiastic and dedicated to supporting our veterans. People who have not served can't comprehend how much it means to us. Thank you for all you do for Vets and the marine industry as well.

Team Marine, awesome as always! So lucky to have you as a local resource. Most honest and knowledgeable shop within the entire upper Mississippi River valley. The absolute best mechanics that have always gone the extra mile for my federal agencies work boats under my care and my entire extended family’s personal boats including my own old Suzuki. Andy is an amazing human being; he’s just good people. Thanks so much for being you. US Navy veteran myself. Amazing idea with the boat build and give a way. Would love to help and support any way possible. I’m a member of a local VFW Post Office 11542 and I’m sure there are other members willing to support your effort and help out as well. Don’t hesitate to message me. I’ll try to stop in soon. Keep up the good work!!!

I have owned several boats and I have done all of my own maintenance and repair on my boats including a recent repower to a Suzuki 225. I have learned so much from your channel and even when I am not learning something from you guys I am very entertained at the very least. Retired USAF Air Traffic Controller here I dont subscribe to anyones post but after seeing your video I just had to. Your passion for the boating community is awesome Finally found another with making things right and with quality in mind! TY I have an inline 4 200 Suzuki on my Skiff Ultra Elite here in NC Totally agree with you with growing up with and working on boats and motors. Great motor but the 200 needs some more balls. I think a 225 would be better for my application Not wild about the mileage w a 250 I only have a 76 gallon tank and want that extra 50 miles to the tank 30-40 miles offshore trolling Still tweaking my boat ref props, weight etc Keep the passion brother!

I admittedly left my other comment without watching the entire video and have more thoughts. I dunno why I'm doing this randomly, but it's a rainy Friday afternoon and I don't feel like coding for work. This is perhaps the most critical I've seen you of Suzuki, and I appreciate the honesty. They are not interfacing with dealers, "boots on the ground" so to speak, to provide any guidance on setup, product improvements etc. Thus customers are at the mercy of how good the dealer is in terms of how well their boat performs. You seem like a good, maybe even great dealer, that goes the extra mile for the customer and makes sure they are happy. Not at all dealers are like this. And that's because, with other brands, they don't have to be. I'm not sure I entirely agree with your sentiment about setup. Yes, performance boats need setup. But we are speaking of setup time as it pertains to squeezing performance at the margins. Like that last 5 mph of speed. Unless you are in a widely unique or extreme situation, if you gotta mess with props and weight distribution and whatever just to get on plane, then that's not a customer setup issue. That is a platform issue. Mercury and Yamaha don't need to provide some blueprint or get detailed information from dealers all the time just to get their motors working because THEY DON'T NEED TO. To use Mercury for example, they provide an appropriate platform, where all the dealer needs to do is say "slap on a 23 Fury on that 200hp" and that's all the customer needs to "get on plane". Squeezing top end? Sure let's mess with props, cupping, weight etc. At the end of the day, we can sugarcoat around the issue by mentioning performance, dealer behavior, customer behavior, whatever. But that covering up the actual issue. In that Suzuki does not provide a performance platform for bass boats. Their motors are not suited for bass boats. Maybe the 250, it's a V6 at least with more normal gearing. But the 200SS is not it man. They thought they can slap on a different look, different paint job, and call it a performance motor. It's not, it's disingenuous to the customer. It sounds like you agree. We definitely we need a 200SS that fucking eats, and until then, it should not be sold. All the work you've done, the research, the time and effort, to make things perform for customers is to be commended. My point, and I think you'd agree, is that you shouldn't have to do that. That's on Suzuki. Finally, that 200 Stealth is looking like the same shit. 2.5:1 gear ratio, inline 4, TERRIBLE for bass boats. Seems like they're not listening or they don't care about bass boats. If so that's a shame, they're shooting themselves in the foot. That piston size argument is dubious because its displacement is 175 CID compared to 279 of a Mercury 200. Whatever I'm not a mechanic. GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER SUZUKI. IF YOU OFFER A 200 THAT "EATS" I'LL BUY IT.
@TeamMarineService
@TeamMarineService Месяц назад
A lot to unpack here and I’m 95% there with ya. The main thing is Suzuki’s require a different approach when it comes to propping especially because they have an offset drive where as Merc and Yamaha outboards don’t.

Hey guys. US Navy Vet here (86-92). River run sounds pretty ambitious but achievable as long as you have some solid sponsors and a good advertising program. You could probably coordinate with a bunch of the dealers along the Mississippi river and have joint giveaways and promotional events along the way. My two cents (for whatever it's worth) is focus on having the grand finale at the Gulf of Mexico coincide with the Fourth of July of 2026 or whichever year is more feasible for everyone involved. 2025 would still be really pushing it aggressively and wouldn't allow time for really maximizing the fundraising aspect and the marketing exposure for all the sponsors. Like I said, this is just my two cents and it's probably not even worth that. Anyway, thanks for thinking of us vets and, speaking just for myself, I really appreciate it. Hopefully, whenever you guys get some plans going for this project, you could share them with us. Since I live in Arkansas, I'd be interested in going to the Mississippi river just to see you guys cruising by. That'd be pretty awesome. Good luck with this project. 👍🇺🇸

If Suzuki wants to dominate the outboard space in the world, they need you as a consultant. What you are describing is what every company should strive for. Especially since all other manufacturers are sitting on their asses. The US car manufacturers are a great example of building vehicles that do not perform, and no one wants, with garbage parts - just garbage.

Great Idea on the River Run!!! Absolutely awesome! I have a 140 on a 354V and it is "fine". Not a speed daemon but it will do 53-54. Had a Merc 150 2.5, that did 60. 100% right about finding the setup. I have three diff props and a jackplate I had to add spacers to (from Vance mfg, not some BS). I started at 48mph bolted into the same place the Merc was. I was most shocked the Suzuki wanted a bigger P2P also. I have 100% confidence is Suzuki to give us what we want and they will be HAMMERS. I bought a suzuki because of my experience with thier GSXR motorcycle. I raced them in club level road racing and I just flogged 3 diff ones for years. I had a GSXR-1000 I ran for three years and only changed the oil and plugs. Holding it wide open every time I could. Places like Road Atlanta and Daytona. Threw it on the ground about 5 times and still ran like a champ. It was never the absolute fastest bike but it was close and just so indestructible which is huge for us with shallow pockets.

@TeamMarineService

They do. In reality Suzuki cut their teeth in offshore so they designed everything around being able to push big slow offshore rigs. In reality it's all based on set up and the driver. We have proven it in our shop to be within 1-2mph off of the new Merc on any boat even with that Suzuki gear ratio and in a couple cases faster than the new Merc.

You guys should do an online setup guide where guys submit their boat info and pay fee for a general setup for their rig. BAM $2-300 a pop

I have a 2013 DF175 and I don't think you would be disappointed. It runs unbelievably smooth and quiet. Propping is odd because of the gear ratio mine has but I would get another without question.

DF-150A Nitro Z7. I’ve got 3 props for to cover different situations. Worked 26p Scorpion, (pitched down to 25) By myself, light load - 59-60 mph. Stock 24p Bravo, partner w gear on board, 54-55 mph. 22p Solas Lexor4, heavy loaded with family, pulling ski/tube. 51-52 mph. I get the best speed with the scorpion, however, it has too much bow lift set up. Makes the boat ride rough in chop. Lose a little speed with the bravo, but everything else is much better. Good whole shot, turns great, and then rides a lot smoother . Thought I would share.

What would be cool is if you started off with a basic boat, then at every stop have a vendor set up to install or upgrade something. Stop 1.....power poles installed. Stop 2...FFS/graph install. Stop 3...someone tricks it out with LED's. Would be a 150k boat by the time you were done.

Hi Andy, I think they should build a 20” 225hp eater stealth Suzuki. Love your videos man. So Cool, the other thing I would love to see is Suzuki build a 300hp 20”and 25” stealth “Eater” single prop not the duo prop 350 that had the aggressive gear case and custom air Cowl like the 250 stealth. cheers regards Matt

I bought the 200 and what you're saying is what I'm experiencing. Top end, what top end??? Great hole shot, mu=id range, but?? I put it on a 1998 ZX202dc Skeeter - Kevlar hull. I wish I'd gone with the 250 even though my hull is rated at 150 - 200 hp. I can run at 45 - 50 all day but get it back to the 67 - 68 it use to do, not happening! 56 - 57 is the best I can get now. We played with the prop, jack plate, tackle placement, etc. Nothing! It's a great motor, but? About the river run, great idea. Army - 1972 - 1972 Arti gunner, twice wounded vet.

I was one of those 200SS early adopters, and it still leaves a sour taste in my mouth. I bought a 2018 Falcon F195 Bass Boat with a 200SS, back when I knew little about motors. Hey, Suzuki advertises this motor as good for bass boats. 200hp like the competitors! Must be true right? Wrong. During hot days I couldn't get on plane, switched to lithiums, that kind of helped. Sometimes my partner would have to lay on the bow. Spent thousands on props. Finally got a hydrofoil as a bandaid. Let's not euphemize the top end either. It wasn't just a little off the top, it was a good 10-12 mph slower than 200hp competitors. Even bought the new 2.00 gearcase. To my mechanic's credit, both he and Suzuki said it doesn't help that much. Did it anyway, and it did not help that much. Finally repowered to a Mercury and I could not be happier. I'm not a Mercury fanboy, I couldn't give two shits about branding. I'll bag on Mercury like the rest of you (and it did have some minor problems). But at least now I can get on plane no matter what the load is, and I'm running fast as shit now. Props to you for making things right to your customers, and to stop selling that particular motor. My dealer was not as honest. And there was nothing wrong with the motor for what it was. Suzuki makes a fine motor, but they absolutely screwed me and other customers with their disingenuous advertising. I dunno, maybe I should've known an inline 4 with a wacky ass gearing and torque curve wouldn't work for a bass boat like a V6/V8. Oh well sue me. And sure, who really cares about top end? It's just a d*** measuring contest. But not being able to get on plane? Come on Suzuki. I wish this video came out two years sooner, but props to you for doing it. Keep up the good work.

Huge Team Marine fan, wondering why I’ve never seen a inboard video. Is it just because its not atypical for bass boats? BTW- Dialed up your shops website and my anti virus went nuts stating its an infected website. USAF Search & Rescue/ Iraq veteran 2001-2007.

Andy, in your opinion. Why does suzuki put these gear sets in them that they do? A 2.5:1 or 2.29:1 for 200 and 225. And also why are they pushing the bigger pitch props vs what I see as the industry standard or 14" or 14.5" diameter? I come from a mercury 2.5 liter background. Just seems closer to the 1.87 or even a 2:1 would be a more logical choice. Whats the thinking behind this? Im trying to understand the thought process behind the gear sets and bigger diameter props. Thanks for any input! Loving the videos

I would literally wait and see what the used market does after this summer is over with!.. I got a little birdie that's telling me to do the exact same thing that has their hands in the finance part and in the wheeling and dealing part... Definitely give the used market just a little bit longer IF YOU CAN.. but then again they could be completely full of it, but I've asked this exact same question to a few people, and it's about a 50/50 split with the people talking about waiting on the used market seemed really enthusiastic about it!,

It’s been documented that certain Suzuki engines are low performers. The Suzuki 140 puts out about 127 on the dyno. The 150 Yamaha makes about 165 on the dyno and the merc 150 is lighter and cheaper so Suzuki looses in the 150 segment. The 175 Suzuki is exactly the same as the 150 except for the vvt which only gives marginal gains over the 150 except the very top rpm. The 200 is no deal either because the merc is a v6 so if you can take the weight there’s no reason to buy a zuk. Idk, it seems the 100-200 Suzuki segment is lackluster and better choices are available. However, in Florida people really like the larger 225-300 Suzuki outboards for offshore boats.
