its not that unrealistic but it is an absurd waste of time and materials like it would be much easier, faster, and less wasteful to press the cases and cast the projectiles not to mention the cases wont be as strong as traditional brass and likely wouldnt stand up to the same pressure but its still a step in the right direction

What will you do if it they leak? You have have to have some sort of material that will hold up over time to seal in the gasses. I don't think it's a good idea because remember when they use to use propane as a refrigerant? It worked but they stopped using it because it was not safe. I'm not trying to knock your idea at all. Atleast you are thinking of new stuff I'm just pointing out some things to keep in mind along the way. I think it'll be a better idea just to print the casing and add regular bullets to them and it'll be like a plastic bullet. But the whole idea is to have an alternative way of ammo if you can't get the regular components. I think the way to go is 3D print the case and the bullet because plastic bullets already exists but they cost more to make but just 3D printing the case will bring down the cost of bullets significantly. The only think is how will they pre form and how will they hold up? I think they will do just fine because plastic bullets do relatively well.

If you could get some mass in the round you could def print shells and pop primers into them. In an ar the whole shell is reinforced by the chamber so the shell itself would likely be fine. It's just when you start getting some temp in the barrel that i could see you running into issues.

However, there's no reason you couldn't 3d print bullets, maybe casings as well, obviously not gun powder or primers.
