Hank you need an ECHO speed feed string feeder it holds 8 feet of string, and you just center string and twist the head to load hope this helps.

I have the same or like head and he needs sharp edge square or hex to chop big weeds. If he gets the correct length, he should cut out some that size while chilling out and then he would be ready with a few in his pocket and a box at the truck.

Two names for the truck I thought of "Double Trouble" or "Dual Wheeler". Not the best I know....lol. 😅 As far as the Drott goes, I've never seen a set up like that. I would assume the hydraulic pump would be free for cases where the engine could be jump started. Normally, it being in gear wouldn't affect that, I would think. Really the best thing you could do is just hook a battery to it and try. All the pump is, of course, is an impeller that circulates the fluid. Why it would have a lock out, or be locked up, doesn't make sense to me. But that's just my opinion of course. Thanks for sharing Hank!! Zee and Dub are awesome! I hope they learn a lot, it will take them far in life to learn new stuff. 😊 Take care and God bless!

Hello Hank, Dub & Zee. That excavator reminds me very much of the GradAll excavators like we used quite a bit with the highway department here in Kentucky. The GradAll excavators that we had were mostly single axle dual wheels and had a rear cab as well as the front cab with the steering wheel and main controls which also had a switch where the steering could be controlled from the rear cab while the excavator was being operated. The GradAll excavators had the telescoping booms and had a knuckle between the end of boom pivot and bucket where the bucket could tilt left or right for ditching work as well as the regular digging motion. The GradAll excavators that we had were also pretty similar although smaller in size to the Bantam excavators that we had for several years. 🔧🛠️🔧🛠️🔧🛠️🔧.

I ran a Case 1085 wheel excavator back in the mid 1980s also a track excavator I remember they bought had like bicycle hand grips on the control leavers but they bought ran and operated good

It definitely shouldn't be in gear, and that p t o if it's engaged, it will keep the crank from turning. I would just get some batteries wired and try to turn it over. Making sure it's out of gear and fool with whatever engages the p t o. If push comes to shove, you may have to disconnect all of the excesery belts/p t o universal and see if it will turn. Any seized accessory will make the engine seem like it's locked up. Injoy your vids. Good luck.

I spent many hours of my childhood (aged 11+) running one of those. My grandpa had a 40 wheeled and a 50 tracked Drott. Both had screaming Detroit’s, probably part of the reason for some of my hearing loss😂

You're wasting your time trying to turn a diesel engine from anywhere other than the flywheel. First, if the engine has any compression at all, you have to overcome that. The accessory drives are geared and that makes overcoming the compression impossible. Put a battery on it and use the starter.

I think for starters the truck should be called Twin Towers, then after Zee gets her truck, her truck can be called Double Trouble. If I remember correctly, you had a lot of your adapters, if not all of them, break helping get those LSW tires off the widow's equipment

Even if there is some load on the pump (unlikely) and it's in gear you should still be able to get some movement from the engine, looks like that engine is well and truly locked up, if you get very lucky the starter might free it up. More than likely it will need a lot of penetrating oil in each cylinder to loosen it up.

I have a 1085 with the same boom n stick the electrical and trans control trough center was a problem. Your engine is locked up remove valve cover check injector rack then take the head off. Overhaul is the way to go, take this machine closer to a shop, would save you a lot of work than working in the bush

First off, make sure the trans is in neutral. Then pull the starter and use a long pry bar on the flywheel. That’s the best way to go.
