Don't forget that when it comes to those tunnels under the chateaux if it comes down to using a pump, you might also want to get a sewerage tank pumps, to be extra careful with gases and such down there when going down to explore. I know it's common knowledge, but it amazes me that people get excited and reckless and climb down into those places, and end up unconscious and dead before they even realise something was ever wrong.
I came to say the same thing. There are various gases that can be a problem besides carbon monoxide (CO)...hydrogen sulfide (H2S), ammonia (NH3), methane (CH4)...that can be either toxic or that can displace enough oxygen to result in hypoxia.
I actually like the weekly videos better. I had gotten to the point that I would check daily or every other day to catch up - and then after watching the dailies, would fall into the rabbit hole of RU-vid. I was wasting sooo much time! I'm also glad you are getting better quality time with your lovely family 💕
Regarding the cat. Have the owner bring something with her scent on it like a blanket, pillowcase etc. the cat’s litter box anything the cat will recognize. Don’t give up on the trap, you just have to have patience and it takes time. Cover the trap with something like the blanket from the owner making sure the cat can enter. Wishing you the best of luck.
Oh this finding of the tunnel could make things very interesting. It looked very smelly. You are sensible to check where the sewer goes. You could have another issue. I wouldn’t just pump it out until you know what the watery fluid is. Great find though. Good luck with the catching. That new machine is massive and it looks as if Phil did a great job on it. Hats look great. Go Steve and Sean. Great work. Thank you. May you all please take care and stay safe. Louisa.👏👏👏❤❤❤🤩🤩🤩
Earnest looks so like his mummy. I miss the daily's but this was a good one. I hope the cat hasn't been locked in the attic or basement. Keep us updated.
Ernest was so serious when Billy asked him 'if he could drive the vehicle?' and he says 'no I am not big enough', how cute was that. Was so nice to see Billy and Ernest having a daddy and son time together. That was exciting finding the man hole cover to the Tunnel . Can not wait for the summer till you can investigate, I only hope the previous owners did not run the toilets into the tunnel. Another lovely video and can not wait for next weeks. Have a great week Billy and family.
I think I prefer this format of weekly videos ...more to enjoy. I suggest baiting the cat trap with something smellier like a packet of sardine wet food for cats.
Hey Billy, tell Gwen to have her friend but prince Harry's litter box outside, they can smell it up to a mile away, so if he hasn't, gone too far he will come home. The kitchen is getting there. Hi to Michael, and good luck going forward on the tunnel.
That tunnel. Like you said, it was possibly the 'sewage' tunnel from back in the day they had no flushing toilets and no septic tanks. Would be interesting to see where it starts from and where it goes to.
It's definitely cool seeing the kids involved in helping dad. Use one of your battery packs, suspend an effluent pump down the hole and let it run a few hours and see how low the water level drops. Probably need to do that anyway to explore the tunnels. The effluent pump should be able to handle some soft dirt, as opposed to a sump pump which will clog. Or, go hog wild and rent a gas motorized pump and see where you get. Edit: as you said, it may have been repurposed as a septic tank or cesspit, so be careful. The black stuff near the bottom may be decomposing... well... you know. If you're not attached to city sewer or have a known tank, it's gotta be going somewhere. In the US, we'd install a septic tank and a drainfield to let the septic tank water soak in to the soil, but who knows what happened there.
I agree, get pumping! If it’s a septic receptacle now, maybe it wouldn’t hurt! Or if you have any kind of slope maybe you can get some gravity flow syphoning happening. The nitrogen could be good for the grass 😅
I miss seeing you and Shaun noodling about. Always some little nugget, no matter how small. It was like being there during the construction. But glad this gives you more time to dedicate to other things.
loved this vid...lots of variety. Re: Puss Cat...try the trap again only cover the trap with a box or a blanket... Really enjoyed your return to weekly...ticking all the boxes 😊
After all the digging Michael and Florian did, they must be annoyed that you located it so quickly! The beauty of technology can be a great help! Exciting regardless. As you said, it will be something you can investigate during drier times👍🏻
Thankyou for another brilliant video, Those two boys of yours are gorgeous, Love the way Ernest said he's not big enough yet ,Definitely lots going on. Hey Billy could you have struck oil 🤔🙂, Hope prince Harfy is found soon , preferably alive 😃
Excellent that you found that access point. See if you can get a water testing kit to find out if there is human waste or any harmful bacteria, etc in the water. Ladt thing you want is to get sick when you explore, plus itll give you a better idea if the plumbing was hooked up to it or not. Fun times!
I MISSED YOU ALL, DURING THE WEEK! And I've only just started watching but had to tell you that I have unexpected, actual tears of PURE JOY, hearing Billy's voice doing the intro, with the beautiful intro part of the video. 💕 to all from an auld lady in Southern California, USA.
Pump it out so you can see inside. The kitchen is looking so modern but nice and clean. Miss the daily video's. I know they take alot of time to do. God bless.
Hey Billy, you don’t want a recirculating vent hood , you need one that will vent putside, especially above that range cooker..it has very high BTUs coming off it, and the recirc hood will not take care of smoke , smells and grease extraction..don’t install it exchange it for a outside vented version.
I once snuck into a "closed" part of Oystermouth Castle in Oystermouth, Wales, close to Swansea. I went into a dark room, realized it was much bigger than I thought it was going to be, got a little freaked out, ran back out, set my camera on flash, ran back in and took a picture, and left again. Sadly, it was just a large empty storage room, probably, with a curved ceiling. Still fun though.
Use a water pump and hose to remove the water then dig out the muck to discover what’s hidden below. I would NOT pump the water out into the field ( including the muck ) until it’s tested for contaminates. Oh and Billy and Michael, please cut off the electricity to the fence while working. You’ll have to use another field for your beautiful and inquisitive horses though. 😊
I do miss the daily video's but the content that you have shared with us is brilliant. The kitchen is coming along quite quickly now. Hope you find the cat. Have a good week. 😊
Love the banter between you, Sean and "Frank" Steve. 🤣 And I love Archie's chubby toddler feet, the boys are getting so big. Micheal looks like he just woke up. good job finding the tunnel...l feel bad for Michael ..... little brother beat him to it. Hopefully you let him be the first one down when it's dried out. Looking forward to seeing that. Until next week, stay well and good luck finding the kitty.
I enjoyed watching this, it was a bit of everything. The Cinvent kitchen is looking good, I hope you find the missing cat. Lovely to see the children again, Ernest is growing up so quickly. Great find now you and Michael have another thing to add to your summer 'To do' list. Well done everyone 💕🇦🇺
I love this once a week video idea! Now I can sit and sip coffee and watch, relax & enjoy your lovely scenery. Glad you covered that hole back up. I can only imagine how putrid it smelled 🤢Like the hats a lot! Enjoy your week and I'll see you next Sunday 💚
Great video, Billy! I love the boys towards the end. And I also love seeing you and Sean outside enjoying a beer. You’re really making huge strides on the kitchen. Love seeing that. 💜🤟🏻🤗🦔🇺🇸
Keep us updated on the cat. Hopefully she either goes home or someone catches him. The tunnel, oh, there are so many things it could be! Another Chateau mystery! It would be cool if you actually found a dry tunnel that was actually use to walk in, leading to a wine cellar or something really cool.
Good luck and Prayers sent on catching Prince Harry. I know what it's like to lose a fur baby. I finally trapped my cat after she survived in 2 hard Canadian winters and was living in the bush for 19 months. Use a can of tuna for bait. Nice elevator lift for the chateau. Ernest will be driving that in no time. He has really grown into a very bright Lad. The tunnel will be interesting once it dries up a bit. Good job on the Convent as well.
Fun vlog! Thanks! The Progress Sean And Steve have made is fantastic! Can’t wait to see the tunnel adventures! We’ve caught a few cats that have escaped or needed to be homed, so As for Dear Prince Kitty there. Try the trap again but cover it with a box, cats love boxes or dens even with the sent of his human like a blanket. Then try to make it smell less new, rubbing it in the dirt. As for bait try a nice smelly can of sardines they work best or some fresh chicken considering he’s loving fresh squab. I wish you much luck getting kitty. It sounds as though he’s being a bit wild and will be a handful when he’s back home.
Hey BIlly, I had a thought.... The cat camera. Have you ever thought of using cat cameras on the top floor of the convent and leaving them as a live feed over a couple of days? I am sure it would create a lot of interest
Sure enjoyed the vlog. Love seeing Ernest's joy in working with his Dad! Can't wait to see the vlog where the tunnel is accessible. Great idea with the metal detector.
I love the intro where you take a slow glide through that infamous haunting hallway! 😂 Sorry you weren't able to catch the cat but with all the pigeons there it must think it's found the mother load!!! 😆
Your boys are getting so big. They are adorable. It would be awesome if you could add a tour of the homes on your property that we haven't seen. Please also let Sadie know that we miss her.
Earnest has grown now. Well done Sean and Steve for the help of the renovation. What a find I wonder if it will dry out by summer as like you said the previous owner did some pipe works, Fingers crossed that it does. Billy you have a another new toy again to add to your collection😂. Crack On see next Sunday
Billy, Michael my loves. Well the new machine will come in handy for moving stuff around. Sean and Steve are doing a good job with the Sheetrock. Getting closer to the completion. Next time turn off the electric wire. Both the chateau and the convent are keeping you guys busy. Well my loves, take care and stay safe. See ya next Sunday. Love ya 🍺🍺🍺🍺❤️🌹🙏🌈🌞🇺🇸👍😇🕊
Enjoyed all you have shown us lovely to see a bit of your home with the boys it won't be long when we get to see earnest helping you all with renovations best way to learn on the shop floor so his first job will be making good cuppa x
Billy- I hope Prince Harry is back home soon with his Pet mom. Also be sure to secure a barrier so the horses won't fall and break a leg. Your Convent project is making progress. Way to go !
We have these in the USA. It's shaped like a giant glass milk bottle no tunnel leading anywhere. Around 4 meters deep they collect ground water for livestock gardens etc and they're considered a cistern
Missing the daily’s, always watching you guys working hard when the Mrs was watching the her soaps, but loving how much more the kitchen is coming along, keep up the brilliant work chaps
That’s awesome! Love seeing the aerial shots of the chateau and looking for the tunnel. Ernest is such an adorable little boy. Your property is truly gorgeous.
Really enjoyed tonight’s video. I think the content in the weekly vlog is going to be terrific and well worth waiting for! So nice to see your boys too 😀
If you do find the water level has dropped in the tunnel in the summer before going down there get yourself a gas detector, the mud at the bottom can hold all lsorts of nastiness and when disturbed can off gas
