Hey y'all! In today's video Natalie and I are in Alabama exploring and searching for fossils from the Carboniferous period. This period of time lasted between about 359-299 million years ago. This period is known as "The Age of Amphibians" because of the diversification of early amphibians. In this video we are finding the incredible plant fossils that are preserved in this time periods sediments. Hope you enjoy!

It’s amazing to think how much activity and geographical changes have happened around those ancient plants since they collapsed into the silt.

I live in Georgia and went to Alabama and found stigmaria and horsetails, one was a foot long and as big around as a cantaloupe. I love finding them, some of the stigmaria have amazing detail

So nice to see Abilene! She looks like my mom's dog Katy that lived 17 years around the 1990s and her one trick was to walk between my legs when we were outside then lift her head up and THROW me. She thought that was the funniest thing ever and would dance and bark at her brilliance. I miss that old girl. Good finds so far, I'm about 10 minutes in. I used to find a lot of fern fossils in KY on our farm, it hadn't been strip mined so there were a good bit of fossils to find.

Guys, I'm blown away! Horsetail is one of the most sacred plants I work with. To see it in its ancient form is spiritual for me. FYI : The plant is used for everything cartilaginous. Joints, nails, hair. Etc. Tincture, tea, or any topical composition would be excellent for your tailbone. Wow! Wow! Wow! Never forget, everything we need grows outside our front doors. ~Much love

Nice finds! Stigmaria are the roots of both Lepidodendron and Sigillaria. Nice Lepidodendron scale tree impressions as well as the Alethopteris fern pinnule finds. The red colored pieces were created by coal fires deep within the earth baking the fossils into a brick red color... would love to find more of those on my hunts! Love watching your videos!

Still love watching your exciting videos! I have 2 suggestions that may save some frustration: first, get a dog leash and clip your box to your belt so you can focus on what you doing instead of chasing the box down the beach😂❤😂! Second, consider painting the inside walls of the box a flat black to cut the glare so we can “help” you look for agates! Keep up the great work Taylor ❤

Your tailbone is called a Caucus. And it hurts like a big one when it gets broken. Mine was broken while teaching my kids how to roller-skate. Was told that it could be popped back into place . yes, that crazy thought that just popped into your head about how that would be done, was more than likely correct. I told the Dr that told me that that if he would let me break his tailbone I would let him fix mine. Lol lol lol. Needless to say I still have caucus issues...
