I prefer the 1.8 too, but the standalone ECU's are like $400 more and every performance part it more expensive.....

I feel like the 1.8 is more suited for the Miata. Yeah there's a 1.8 tax, but since they had it all the way up to 2004, there's more options in turns of differentials, transmissions, etc.
