The earthquake alone was a scary moment. But having a medical emergency on top of that must have been crazy scary. It's good Wolfy is better now.

When I got fever, usually I would soak a handkerchief nicely cold wet and apply behind the back of my neck, behind ears, and forehead covers until side ear. When the handkerchief starts turning warm, I soak it again and apply on those areas and repeat cycle until I feel my head less headache. I remembered I woke up crying with a strange high fever when I was young, but the fever gone in short hour after so much yawning. Felt like the yawning help takes out the heat when exhale through mouth. Glad Wolfie got better. Well done to both of you. : D

Glad Wolfy is doing better. Fevers in little kids especially those that aren’t fully verbal yet are especially scary. Hearing your wife mention about reading about cold hands and feet was an indication that his core temp was rising. My husband when he was baby had a severe seizure. We are thankful he’s alive but the huge take away from the nurse at the hospital that cared for him was always do rectal temp checks as this is the most accurate in kids under 4, non stop fluids, cold compresses and any temp over 100 for little ones should given some form of fever reducer. Praying for you and your family to have good health 🙏🏼 love watching all your videos with our family.

You and your wife are very strong parents. Hope wolfy is already well and happy. I used to live in Central Asia we don't have strong or often earthquakes but we have them sometimes. I remember when I was 4-5 years old we had a big earthquake at night. I used to sleep in my parents room at that time because my heart issues had gotten worse. When the earthquake happened I was in the bedroom asleep and my parents and relatives in the living room downstairs stairs. We used to have this big closet it usually was attached to the wall so it would not fall down in case. So I was sleeping when I heard something loud crash. After that I don't remember anything. Mom told me that the earthquake was so strong that. It made that closet fall and it was so near my bed. The reason it fell down was because my uncle and dad had pushed it away from the wall while they where trying to take it out. But they got to lazy and left it to the next day. That night I was also rushed into the hospital because I got a shock and got a fever of 41°c. We still don't understand how such a huge thing fell down. It's hard to imagine how children have to grow up with such trauma.

Funny, I’m Canada they tell you to give your baby Tylenol to bring the fever down to ensure they don’t have a seizure. Now that they are older you don’t do that so they fever kills the virus.

Our baby girl also had a high fever recently and we brought her to the emergency. Her fever was hovering around 40C and she's around 11 months. It's been almost 4 days and our babys fever started to slowly go down. The feeling I got when we had to bring her to the emergency room is definitely terrifying. I couldn't imagine what you guys went through when Woffy wasn't responding back. Honestly, my wife and I learnt a lot from this video so thank you so much for sharing. My sons fever was at that level at 103 to 104 degrees. Traditionally, when it’s that high you give the kids a warm bath to cool their body down and not reach his head. Because they will go in seizure or shock. To prevent that we do the bath technique. So, next time try giving him warm baths, every time. It takes a couple of baths to get it down once in awhile. But you do have to keep watch all night because that’s when kids temperature gets high. Sometimes they piggy back on medicine but only recommended by doctor. Best technique is always giving them a bath to lower the temperature. Hope this helps!! It definitely is scary when they are sick like this.

Every parent should know that you should undress the kid when they have a fever!!! Blankets and long sleeves make fever higher and higher! That’s why he has 40 degrees. Sleeveless shirts and diaper is enough when they have a fever.

My youngest one scared the living daylights out of me when he had his first....what made it worse was that he had more than just the one...which is rather rare. Almost as scary as when we found out he was allergic to penicillin which was a horrible reaction the second time he had it.

So basically you are saying that the hospital just checked your son's symptoms and then waited until he recovers? Wow, what a night and of course that Earthquake only added insult to injury. In the US, I guess doctors have a more liberal approach to taking over the counter Children's medicine, like Tylenol or Motrin or Benadryl. Of course used in the right quantities. A few other suggestion from our experience with two kids: 1) Please find a thermometer that measures temperature by swiping across kid's forehead. It is a little bit imprecise of course but it gives you an almost immediate idea if there is fever or not. I don't know how your small kid even sits still for the underarm thermometer. 2) Are there kids' medicines in Japan that come as sweet syrup? So that you don't have to mix it but just give it to them with water? That is what we have in the US. 3) We give Tylenol(fever medication) as soon as we see kid's temperature goes above 37.5 - 37.8. If we saw that Tylenol or Ibuprofen, etc. is not working within an hour or so we would be calling our pediatrician about what to do. Fever medication not helping already points to a bigger problem then mild cold so there is no reason to wait for hours. We always have Children's Tylenol or Ibuprofen at home. 4) If our kids are sick we always give them children's Benadryl so that they sleep and they and us can get some rest. Obviously we can only do this a few times as it is really an anti allergy medication. But it really helps kids sleep, cleans up any mucus they might have in their noses and speeds up their recovery...

They took me to the ER and after 30 min. My temp was 36.5. And felt normal. The doctors did not understand what it was either.. This was during the 80s.

Being a new parent is never easy! I hope that all of this is in the rearview mirror now. Our first sick baby experience was with my first who was 6 months old and she got rotavirus .. bad news.. nothing you can do about it except support them (is viral). Our worst family illness to date was that Christmas we ALL got norovirus - no one could stand, let alone cook or do anything.. we were all in this horrid constant barf/explosive diarrhea state for three days. Im so glad our kids were older then. - Soon you will be an old pro at this. THATS when it will change and the little guy will give you something else new to worry about!

Good to hear everything is OK! I know exactly how you feel! So scary when kids get sick. We usually give our son some paracetamol imidiately when he gets that high fever. He gets a pill in, well not his mouth, but the other way, that works very well usually. As long vas kids play and are ok in themselves, it's ok to have fever. But when the feel like just wanna lie down, paracetamol, and if that doesn't help , straight to the ER. I had lots of fever cramps when I was a baby, and I am ok today, so don't worry. Though I think it must be unbelievably scary!!

as a parent you need to take him out so his immune system can get strong, kids need to get sick to get strong, but saying that, We as parents all think keeping them warm is the best thing when it isn't, when there is a high fever, strip them down to just diapers/underwear, an or put them in a lukewarm water bath, you need to cool the blood down so it can break the fever,. main points are neck, under arms, groin area, behind knees, Our youngest had a reaction to his 18 month needle, high fever, and started to convolt, so off to the hospital we went, and what the nurses did, cool bath first and then no clothes or blankets, l felt so bad as a parent, cause you want you child to be comfortable, l managed to get a towel for his feet, (cause if you feet are warm you will sleep) and l stay the whole night in the room with him. And in the morning his fever had broke. He came home the next day from hospital after dr checked him out. Plus l hate to say this, but life doesn't have a schedule. As parents you have to deal with comes along when you have kids, Expect the unexpected.

idk why the other doctors say you shouldnt use fever medicine on babies cause fever for babies is so dangerous. I remember working part time at a clinic and if any babies (under 3) get priority - pretty much immediately - to see the doc when their temperature is over 38 degree when all the other adults might have to wait at least an hour. In sg, parents do anything to bring the temp down - constantly wiping their whole body with towel and using a fever patch to keep the forehead cool.

Looking how old Wolfie is, you can alternate children's tylenol and motrin to keep his fever down and reduce pain. Stop covering him with blankets it drives temperatures up.

Here in US when my son had fever of 101 I would alternate Childrens Motrin and childrens tylenol. Like the Motrin and then Tylenol 2-3 hours later then 2-3 hours later the Motrin. Don’t let the fever go beyond 103 for too long. It can cause other issues with the seizures. Glad all is well!!!!!

We too ended up in the emergency room with our toddler due to a fever not breaking. The Dr. recommended the infant tylenol, infant ibuprofen too. He also recommend stripping our baby of clothes and luke warm baths to help lower the fever. Daycare introduced your child to many germs and these illnesses help them build their immunity system. It's scary, but you're doing great.

That's not true- it's not just them... Literally, any child can have the same issue. My son had them twice. cool them down, less clothes no blankets, and increase their iron/vitamins. i bounce between Tylenol and Motrin. it worked wonderfully. He is perfectly fine and back to 100% in a few days.

@clarkjc44355 2 года назад
It’s very common in young kids. 2 out of 4 of our littlest (2 are new Jews of mine we asoprws) had it and the oldest who has it also had breath holding spells that always ended in a seizure. Ir was involuntary on his part and also was grown out of about a year after the febrile seizures stopped too Scary and nothing to be dismissive about BUt once we earn what they are and why they happen. That it’s not a seizure disorder or epilepsy… it gets easier with time
@clarkjc44355

Also, it rarely is just 1 febrile seizure. Usually that child is prone to having them and will have them again with the next fever or one after. They are predisposed to it but so outgrow them

Being scared in a situation like that isn't weak. While those situations can be scary, there is no weakness in being scared, or letting your child(ren) see that in you. But also yes, being a parent is hard work, but by far the most rewarding.

@itmebakadesu
@itmebakadesu 2 года назад
@@Kronos0999 If when you refer to being "weak" as letting your child see you cry, then you can totally do that because crying isn't a sign of being weak. I saw my father cry every now and then with the possibility of more times I don't recall right now. Crying is processing emotions, a completely normal thing that allows people to identify feelings and how to manage them. There are times where I might be down about something, and my daughter picks up on that, and comforts me which in turn makes me so happy/proud that I cry a little out of happiness and she sees that.

Welcome to fatherhood. And news flash, you will NEVER EVER stop worrying and having fear. You just learn to deal with it. But you will never stop having fatherly concern, even as your child goes into adulthood. It ages you, but it is worth it in fatherhood!!! And then when you think it is all clear, here comes GRANDFATHERHOOD!!!!! And now there is more worrying, fearing, and caring. Cheers to a long life of experiencing fatherhood and eventually grandfather!!!

As someone who experienced febrile fits myself when i was young, i heard the whole process of the first few times it occured from my parents after i grew up. Both of you did great and i can totally understand the feelings of the parent when that happened, an experience thats very frightening and full of distress. Don't worry as he received necessary help in time. This condition happens only with high fever when the temperature hits about 38-40 or above. My symptoms began with whole body going weak, eyes looking upwards, skin appearing pale purple-ish (lips, nails, hands), stiff body, frothy saliva and jerking of body/limbs, sometimes clearing of bowel. Based on my condition, an episode of fits during fever above 38.5 deg Celsius usually last about 4-5 minutes, sometimes does hit more than 5 minutes to 10 minutes then it stops, and only occur once without repeated episodes in the same day. It is advised to seek for medical help if he has an episode longer than 5 minutes, having breathing problems or vomiting symptoms. As i aged, the fits slowly does not occur even during fever and completely disappear as i enter the age of 6. We always have fever reducing suppositories ready in the fridge to keep my fever in control during those days and help reduce my body temperature by dabbing with wet towels and warm water. The doctor advised to tilt the body to lay on the side to avoid biting on tongue and allow saliva to flow out, at the same time we were given rectal antiepileptic medications for the time the fit occurs. According to Chinese traditions, my parents also reduced the my daily consumption of "heaty food" so fever don't hit easily and reduce high calories food like rice during fever so that the temperature wont goes up fast. They had also tried Chinese tradition remedies to reduce body heat like Egg Rub remedy (Hong Ahn). These are just my experiences that i share in hopes that it may be useful to provide some insights, however, not all cases may apply the same. I am glad that wolfy is feeling better! You guys are doing GREAT in staying strong to help your child, i just want to say that you guys are AWESOME! Also to all the parents who had to go through similar experiences including my parents.
