Map is Lost Civiliziation for first bit. Later on I use Sunder to bully the imps. I kept trying to call it the ChainShield even though ShieldSaw was confirmed by Hugo to be the name they use internally, I feel like that flows better.

It lacking the return function might seem like a flaw, but at the same time I'm now stuck with the mental image of Doomguy, early on in his new lease as the Slayer, having comically bad luck with the Shield Saw to the point where it ends up in the most inexplicable of places every time he threw the damn thing.

Already! I'm halfway convinced that I'll never need to actually play another fps ever again and just stick with doom.

I'm not gonna lie, from the moment I saw that trailer I was expecting this. And I'm not disappointed!

That is such a wild idea: have modders basically make the game in the original Doom engine and play test it there, buffing out and tweaking the weapon balance in a completely different engine.

when i saw the saw in the trailer, my thought was the shield used by slaughtaurs or those custom lion taur enemies

i love this sooo much i tried it with brutal doom and my god guys its beautiful, if the shield bounces back on an injured enemy they get ripped apart even more

The shield could at least respawn at your hand or something, having to find a throwable weapon like that in the level is not fun.

Actually, throwing shieldsaw then using weapons and picking it up seems like a nice gameplay loop mechanic. Just needs more refining and testing.

it'd be cool if you get skullcrusher ammo from walking over corpses. my only gripe is that these don't show up in weapon lists for some reason and you can't wheel swap to a different weapon when you're holding them, at least with mods like BD anyway.

Have you ever considered adding the Doom sound Bulb to your autorun mod list? IIRC it's a remastering of the original sound effects so they clash less with hi-fidelity sounds from other mods. I personally use PK_Doom_SFX from the stone ages and only saw videos on doom bulb, so YMMV.
