So, you have fluoride in the water? Not good
@GreenAcreHomestead
@GreenAcreHomestead 2 года назад
We'll happily trade fluoride in the water for the chance of pesticides in the ground water. :) "The devil you know" type thing. Fluoride is cheaper to filter out, which we do for all our drinking and potable uses in the home/camper. We've lived in an area in the past where an entire section of the county was discovered to have dieldrin in the well water from insecticides used in the 1950s. Even after homes were built in the 1970s and the water was tested in the 2000s. The entire area's unconfined aquifer water source was poisoned and everyone had to abandon their wells for city water to be installed miles out into the country. Paid for by the state, but the tax payers in the end. This was only discovered when someone paid for an extensive water analysis be performed at a farm. After that the state stepped in quickly. So yes, we're happy to have public water where at least some amount of treatment and monitoring is being done. :)

@@GreenAcreHomestead true, we are dairy farmers, l wish all farmers could go organic, but now comes a point that saddens some of us farmers is, farm land being split up, not used for farming, so far you get a lot less yield per acre, but we want to live in a free country so l try to not say anything but it saddens me!

Whats wrong with flouride?
@diyfferent
@diyfferent 2 года назад
@@cmyers9518 The fluoride they add to public drinking water is an industrial waste byproduct from making fertilizer, aluminum, and even atomic weapons. Back in the '40s the gov had a lot of it and it was hard to get rid of, until they realized they could put it in our drinking water. Fluoride is often thought to be good for your teeth. But as we all know, it's not meant to be ingested, it's actually very toxic. Hence the warnings on your toothpaste. Consuming excessive amounts of fluoride can cause many health problems from dental fluorosis to osteoporosis and worse. On top of that, Fluoride is classified as a neurotoxin and also causes developmental problems. Also, you have to consider the morality of adding fluoride to drinking water. Fluoride is not an essential nutrient and does not contribute to water quality or safety. The sole purpose of it in your drinking water is to prevent or reduce dental diseases. So it is a medical treatment being dispensed in your drinking water without informed consent as is supposed to be legally required. There is also no way to regulate or know how much you are ingesting so many people end up with excessive fluoride in their bodies, leading to the health conditions I mentioned. Fluoride is also very hard to remove from the environment so it just keeps cycling through the water system until we absorb it into our bones. Most developed nations do not fluoridate their drinking water because it's not healthy and not scientific. Studies show that there is no difference in tooth decay from countries that do fluoridate vs those who don't. In fact, in some cases we have higher rates of tooth decay despite being of of the most heavily fluoridate countries in the world. Since fluoridated toothpaste is cheap and available to those who wish to medicate with it, there is no reason to continue this outdated practice. People just accept it because "they have been doing it a long time" and it saves the big corporations money while making us sick. As with most things, people just don't care.

Just had ours replaced because lightning fried ours and about four other neighbors meters along our road. We use to have a Doublewide on our farm and had it torn down and had a modular home built. Almost had a neighbor who would take the double wide until he found out what a water meters cost to put in. So the double wide came down but made for some good videos for the RU-vid channel.

Nice work Sam and Angela. As a Utilityman for the Gas Company I would've put a Tracer Wire in the ditch with the Water line for future reference. In our state of West Virginia it is code for installation along with a caution ribbon placed after about 6" - 8"s of cover dirt on top of the water line. Two years ago I had to put in a new gas service line about 900' from the meter to my home. I was required to put the tracer wire in the trench first, then the 1.25" gas line. The tracer wire serves two purposes, the location, and the depth of the water linefor future references. About three months later I had run about 100' of water line to the City water Service tap, and I used the same method. Trench, tracer wire, taped to the water line, then 6"s of cover dirt, then a 100' of caution ribbon 6"s above the water line. "Just a suggestion". Makes life a little easier if any future excavating is going to be done. Good to see your son having an interest in equipment. That made his day.
@GreenAcreHomestead
@GreenAcreHomestead 2 года назад
It wasn't required in our area, and I considered it but decided not to in the end. The cost was the main reason. Copper is outrageous right now. The other reason, and my own justification, is that this is a straight run from point A to point B. And we have the video for future reference. That being said, I hope I don't regret saving money now. :)

That was interesting. I hadn't seen a hookup for county water before. We're on a well here, which is nice, but we gotta keep an eye on the weather in winter and fill up buckets (and the tub) with water just in case a storm knocks the power out. With your county water you won't have to worry about that. I can hardly wait to see what's next :)

We are in the East Texas Piney Woods and for us to connect to the local water Co-OP whose line is about 3/8 of a mile away from our property, they wanted $14,000. That is just to run us a line. So we had a company drill us a 660' well for $21,000. We hear the local co-op has frequent outages and "boil water" notices. Y'all done good.

Just curious if you added a water pressure reducer? When I bought my new place 2 years ago, I had a "t" that went to a hydant and the other to my mobile home. I already had a reducer where my water entered my home, but I should have put one right out from the meter because the pressure was so great it blew out all tbe rings in my hydrant. I took it back to lowes. My meter kept showing I had a leak and thats when I realized what had happened. Shark bite makes a good one for up to 400lbs + of pressure. Not for sure how far along you are, but this would be really good insurance so to speak for your water.
