SURPRISEEE!
Decided to go a slightly different route for this install video, especially since we had the amazing help from the technicians over at Baertrax. I chose to focus a little more on the information this time around rather than the step by step process.
Let me know what you guys think!
And for those of you who are interested in the RCV Performance Axles or in the step by step process, check out these links below -

It's always crazy seeing Yukon Gear and Axle products in shops in videos I've watched. About 23 years ago i worked at the company that created that brand, Randy's Ring and Pinion, now known as Randy's Worldwide. Kinda bummed to find out Randy sold the company but I'm sure he's out enjoying his life instead of hanging around the shop all the time lol

Had a guy on our last outing going up a hill and had exactly what you’re talking about happen. U joint snapped which then snapped ball joints and next thing ya know wheel, caliper rotor everything snapped off the Jeep. Took us 6 hours to get him off the trail and onto a trailer. So glad I put RCV in mine. Seriously though the bungee cord is the oldest trick in the book. Always carry a bungee and bailing wire

I wonder y Jeep puts U joints on the wrangler Rubicon as standard... Wouldn't they not be better off putting an CV as standard, or is it to do with the cost?

Thank you. I have been afraid of my Dana 30 breaking. I was thinking about how to replace it, but now I see I can just upgrade the axles. I used to have a 1949 CJ3A and it had 6 ball CV joints. I loved them. I don't know why Jeep cheaped out and used U-joints. I love your channel and watch it a lot. I think your are a little crazy sometimes with what you do, but you are so entertaining. I already did the RCV Front axles in my 2008 JKUR back in 2010 when I changed gears to 5.38's.. Just be sure you grease them regularly, thru the end. Uses a needle point gun tip. Jeep had I think roughly 10k on it when installed. Am at 61K now. Running 35" tires. I also did inner and outer sleeves along with C-gussets to the axle housing. Made my own truss. So, front end is stout now.. Never a bit of problems all this time off roading, or using the SNOW PLOW (Western HTS 7.5) here in NE Okla..

These axels are a great idea , I had a 1992 Cherokee with u joints and if you live in the north where it’s snow and damp on the road a lot like Michigan and around these u joints on your jeep will rust and dry out and fail and fall apart from rust and you end up replacing them every 4 or five years . This is a great replacement instead doing the u joints

Had you done research on the benefits of fully floating axles as an alternative to the RCV axles? A comparison of costs between the two would be interesting. Also, with a broken axle it doesn't appear that the CV axle would remain functional. That is, you would still have to replace the axle to retain the wheel in order to get off the trail. Great work you guys! Informative and entertaining as always!

Good video, and great upgrade! but RCVs won’t stop your Jeep from bouncing, that’s an inherent design of the suspension angles. Their axles are super strong, however the cage design wears fast. I’ve had mine for less than 2 years and click like crazy while turning.

I am interested in knowing what packages you bought with your JLUR when you bought it and what other upgrades/add-ons you have to date? I'm wondering if all the packages offered by Jeep are actually necessary or worth the cost if one plans on upgrading certain things after purchase, such as, wheels, tires, skid plates, axles, lifts, etc. I am actually excited about buying my new JLUR and getting offroad again!!! Speaking of how to drive videos, you need to include throttle control. Are you left foot braking? Because I've been wheeling for over 15yrs and have rarely seen throttle control as good as Kevin's, especially with drive by wire. I see so many drivers doing the lunge, brake, lunge brake, lunge brake. You definitely need to include how to throttle control over an obstacle.

@real-talk_5304
@real-talk_5304 5 лет назад
Brad Campbell I’m not saying all one brand. They still have stock lower control arms. So that 3.5”s of lift is causing the whole front axle to rotate changing the angle of it and the angle that the front drive shaft connects to the axle. I’m just saying maybe the full kit that helps correct that would help with wear and eventually wobble. A new steering stabilizer is just a bandaid.
