Someone else mentioned that they’d like to specifically buy a piece made at home, and I’m in the same boat. Even having that particular crafter’s name signed/engraved on it. Each and every craftsman (or woman) is important to us, not only the company as a whole. Stay safe.
My first day at Wyrmwood as a new craftsman was supposed to be March 30th and I was beyond excited to be joining the team. When this shelter in place advisory came into play, I was emailed by J saying that all new hires are to be halted for the time being- which is what I expected immediately. While I’m being stopped from starting with Wyrmwood by this outbreak, it’s even more clear to me that the future is incredibly bright and that I’ll have one hell of a family to meet once I begin my training one day. #getourcraftsmenback
I have been a long time supporter of Wyrmwood. It truly saddens me to see what the virus has done to the company and others like it. Hopefully this outbreak doesn't last too long. #GetOurCraftsmenBack
Steven Quinones @wyrmwood This would actually be an interesting idea. We could see what tools everyone uses and how they keep their shop (assuming they have one).
Please keep us informed about which craftspeople (by product, not by name) are not staying busy enough to stay afloat. For example, "We have 3 people making dice vaults from home, and they're struggling because we don't have enough orders to keep them working, and we're having trouble pivoting them to new products because of tooling and/or the inability to train while isolating." (I realize vaults may not see this problem, but it's the info we, as a community, need to be able to help support your people when they're really stuck).
I just noticed on their website that they're offering a "homebrew collection", now. It's been a long time that I've lusted after their products, but couldn't pull the trigger - for me, the price has been difficult to justify (despite the quality and craftsmanship ... it's a matter of my money, not their goods). That being said, I can now look forward to a bit of that gorgeous black poisonwood showing up, and knowing that it helped keep an artist afloat for another day - it's all the extra excuse I needed. Now the challenge: to the other 39 of you who liked the above comment and anyone else who stumbles across it ... step up if you can justify it against your own situation. We've got a business making a concerted effort to support not only a community, but artists; let's help keep them afloat.
150 house points to the owners of wrymwood for figuring out how to support the craftsmen who are stuck at home right now and helping their employees as best they can
I have to be honest here, this episode made me emotional. You can see through every interview how tough of a decision this was for everyone. I can only imagine what you guys are going through. I agree with what Gates was saying. This is going to be an incredibly tough time, but Wyrmwood is going to come back even stronger than it was when you had to leave. And just like what Savage said at the end, and it honestly made me laugh as I wiped some tears, you guys will be fucking back! I wish everyone at Wyrmwood safety and positive outcomes. You all rock, and I hope you know you make this lonely college student incredibly happy each week with your videos.
I’ve always had a special place in my heart for Wyrmwood. My grandfather was from Taunton, MA. I have only been there once as a kid but it’s something that makes me feel connected to your company. If you need any remote support from 5 states away, I’m there in a heartbeat. Keep strong, keep us up to date and keep chronicling this story. You are a perfect example of how COVID-19 is impacting small business especially those outside of the restaurant and brick & mortar retail industries that is being glossed over. Thanks for looking after your workers and your customers will be here to do our part, shop and back like the gamers we are.
I hope you're all well and that everyone at wyrmwood can stay on their feet. Any delays or slows in production are understandable. I wish the best for everyone during this crisis.
The trust your employees have in your guidance and decisions, speaks VOLUMES about the wonderful people that run Wyrmwood. So proud to support such a company. This extended Mass shut down sucks but is crucial...hang in there everyone
Wyrmwood is an amazing company, and you guys are amazing. You show that you care so much about your customers, your product, and each other! I wish you all the best! Stay healthy, and I'll definitely keep watching!
I respect you guys so much for how much you all care about your employees and I can only imagine how difficult it must have been to make that call but am 100% sure you will all bounce back and be on a whole new level
That's amazing supporting your craftsmen and getting them the equipment to build from home. Kudos to you guys for doing the best you can. ❤ You guys will bounce back better than ever. Stay safe!
Such a great way to help keep your employees working in some way during this difficult time. Kudos to you guys and showing creative and caring leadership. All the best from Maple Ridge, BC Canada.
man, i don't even know what to say. the whole thing is heartbreaking, but i'm glad you guys are staying safe and are figuring out ways to support your workers in ways that most companies couldn't, or would have no interest in... if I'd ever got the chance, I don't think there's a place i'd rather work...
I started watching you guys last week and love how y'all always treat your craftsmen as the family members that they are. You have an amazing work model that more businesses need to follow. Y'all are truly inspiring as how people should be with each other and can't wait to support when y'all get back up to full force. Keep up the great work!
And you just became the company I will always support!!!! Side note you should mark the stuff that is being made at folks homes so we all can have a piece of this and remember how great you guys where when ever we use it in our game!!
I am so proud to be a supporter of you guys and use your amazing work in my games! You are truly amazing company and have my respect and support as a player and buyer in these hards times. Stay strong
“We made Tabletop Tiles Keychains for everyone” If you’re gonna have some time off to isolate, It’s probably gonna be a good time to get those Keychains ready!
I am SO proud of these guys, all of them. You didn't have to be considerate or go to these lengths but you were and you did and your compassion alone makes this a great company, hard work on beautiful products aside. Massive kudos.
I love that you guys care for your employees and that they trust you. We all will continue to support you. Honestly this crisis has given me the opportunity to use the Custom vault I bought for Christmas for the first time because people created an online D&D Facebook group for people in quarantine. There are always more games to play. I hope you get your craftsmen back soon and that Wyrmwood will be better than ever.
Crazy times! Thank you for being a company always striving to be its best not only for your customers, but for your workers as well! Hopefully this will all blow over as soon as possible.
Watching Wyrmwood evolve and prosper over the last years has been a delight. Watching you deal with a major crisis like this is hard, but also inspiring. Stay safe! Come back stronger!
I know that making the choices that you did weren't easy, but they were the right choices to make when considering the situation that we are all in. But I LOVE that you are helping as many employees as you can by allowing them to help you by working at home. Such an elegant solution for a problem that too many are facing today. I can't wait to see the first video with a full shop again.
Guys : once you put a mask down from your face and the inside gets in contact with something else (like your skin, your beard) that wasnt protected, that mask must not get back on your face if you had any risk of being contaminated Stay safe, @wyrmwood
Masks only prevent you from spreading what you have. Masks do not keep you from getting anything. Your eyes are much more susceptible orifices than your nose or mouth.
Super proud of you guys! Amazing way to adjust. If only the rest of the corporate world could be like Wyrmwood. Looking forward to seeing the first Wyrm Life when everyone is back together!
I've been binge watching wyrm life for the past 3 days, and this episode got me in tears. this company for me has gone from the people who were just 'friends at wyrmwood' that Matt Mercer would reference to actual lives and journeys that I'm 100% rooting for. I still have the rest of S4 to binge, but I'm super confident you guys are gonna get back from this, much much better. much love from a wyrmling ❤️
Just ordered a Homebrew Tray from you guys...doing what little I can to help you keep your amazing company alive through this difficult time. Stay awesome, guys!
Wyrmwood thank you for all that you do for this community of people. You all work your hardest to make sure that the people of this community are taken care of during a crisis or not. Thank you all so very much
This is a great way to handle an incredibly tough situation. I absolutely applaud Wyrmwood for making something work and not abandoning their staff, their family. One FYI when you are assembling and delivering/collecting the daily craft boxes you should still be wearing PPE, especially gloves. COVID-19 can survive for 9 hours on a surface, so unless everyone is wiping everything down before touching it then you could be delivering contaminated tools, supplies, and products. You are all awesome! Keep it up!
Total Respect guys. I am a freelance adult English teacher in South Korea and there are currently no jobs as companies don't allow partner business in their buildings. Shipping out the tools to the craftsmen at their home? What an amazing effort you guys are doing. That leadership loyalty and care is what keeps people at companies. It's when leaders see human beings, not profits, people, not how much business do you generate for me? It's during these tests of hard times that show the worst or amazing best of companies. Keep making the hard decisions look like, "Of coarse, that's the choice we made, that was the only ethical, moral, obvious choice that could be done." The goal was to come back to Canada this year and work as a Sound Recordist for TV and film. That target was delayed for obvious reasons, but damn do I wish my next company's leaders and team work as hard as you guys! I'd work for you guys in an instant!
Hey Wyrmwood. I discovered you guys a little while back. I was looking for a gaming table. And yours just seemed perfect for me. Didn’t buy the table right away as it wasn’t the right time for various reasons. I bought some dice towers, dice trays and dice from you over the last little while. I was moved to see your last episode. It’s been a hard time for everyone and no one really knows what will happen in the next few weeks. All I know is that you all do great work, you are committed to your craft, to your customers and to each other. Seeing you at work and what you bring to it; that passion, glee and energy is nothing short of inspiring. Hang in there Wyrmwood. I need that table, and there is no one else I’d rather do business with. Hang in there. I will be buying a table from you as soon as the craziness is over. Hang in there.
So you're saying Wyrmwood is now making home made products? Schweet. I thought you guys were awesome before, but helping out your craftsmen and craftswomen to have some normalcy whilst this is going on. You guys are what American Companies should strive to be like. Now to scrounge up some pennies for a Home Made Wyrmwood Product (TM)
Watching this from the other side of things, I am inspired and impressed by the wisdom, vision, and fortitude leadership showed here at the beginning of it all. Much love!
Godspeed boys, like 3 of my tabletop games just revived in this time and I bet there is gonna be a surge of people new to the hobby or reinvigorated coming for all your stock
Thank you for having a dedication to your community and craftsmen to take these extremely difficult steps and prioritize peoples' livelihoods. I want to purchase a wyrmwood product now more than ever to support your efforts. Wishing you all the best. Hope you are all safe and healthy during this trying time. #getourcraftsmenback
it so heartwarming to see how much you guys care for your employees and how much you're trying to keep them afloat in all this. i hope this whole thing blows over soon and as Gates said you all will come out stronger in the end #GETOURCRAFTSMENBACK
We love everything that you guys do the love that you put into each product you make we feel that and we understand it and we will be there for you when this is over
I hope some have the ability to keep purchasing items through this difficult time but many will be without work. “If you build it, they will come” 😉 be safe
You guys are such an inspiration and such wonderful humans. Sending good thoughts and love your way (and hopefully some business soon). Keep on keeping on!!!
So glad you were able to work out a way to keep as many of your people working. It shows the true love and loyalty the owners of Wyrmwood have for their workers, more companies could learn a thing or two from you guys. I saw other suggest getting video of craftsman working from home and I love that idea...get on that Bobby! I look forward to see what Wyrmwood has to come! God Bless you guys!!!!
We're still gaming while social distancing. Had a D&D session last night via Discord and Twitch (with a few needed pics in between when internet lagged)! I know the gaming community will support you guys and hope you bounce back quickly and stronger than ever when allowed to do so. I love your products - have a few dice boxes, because I have a dice problem and can't stop buying new sets :) - and what you're doing for our first responders and medical personnel is absolutely amazing. May the gods bless you and stay safe!
Best of luck. Happy you’re able to make it work. Also, from a infection control standpoint, your beards make the fit of an N95 ineffective. Consider shaving if you’re wearing masks for infection prevention.
It's more for sawdust and chemicals I'm sure. It's the same in my shop where we wear masks for sanding and gluing so we arent breathing in as much harmful materials but those of us with beards know there is a tradeoff
Thank you for doing every thing you can to keep your craftsmen safe. As some one who has a family member who is sick I appreciate all the steps you are taking to keep them safe and healthy, and to help keep them safe financially as much as you can. ♥
Y'all are going to make it through it because such an amazing company can't be taken down! Your faithful Wyrmlings will forever have your backs! All 65 of your backs....we got 'em
You folks are amazing! You care so much for your business, your workers, your costumer and your community! I wish you all well, and hope that you are ALL able to come back once this is over. Lots of Love!
Stay well Wyrmwood crew! Thanks for thinking of your employees and customers! I appreciate your dedication to your craft and to each other! Stay healthy and I can’t wait to see the celebration episode when everyone returns 🥳
This really hits home. I work in a production pottery studio in Waco, Tx. And I was just laid off this past week. Only difference is the uncertainty that I will be hired back. Thank you for supporting your talented crafters and artisans.
Wow, your company's values and ethics is what has gotten me to subscribe. I've seen an episode or two before, but I've had a lot of free time lately. And not because of this epidemic, but because the company I worked for didnt have any health or safety rules. They gave us one disposable mask and told us to make it last because they weren't going to give us anymore. They didn't limit the amount of customers inside the premise. They didn't stop customers who didn't wear masks, or who showed signs of being ill, from coming in. And when I finally caught Covid and had to stay home. They let me go. I'm out of a job. I can't even go back once this whole thing is over. I used the last of my money this month to pay rent and buy "groceries". My phone bill is coming up in five days. I'm on my own. And I'm extremely sore that the people I worked for don't value me like you guys value your employees.
Thanks for doing everything you can to adjust to this situation. Friendly reminder: HANDS are the thing you need to be most conscious of when preventing infection. Be aware that what you TOUCH has been touched my many others, which means it could be infected. You may not be aware of how often you touch your own eyes, ears, nose and mouth with your hands. THIS is the primary way you contract and spread viruses. Gloves don't help you stop the spread of viruses. If your gloved hand touches something infected, then you can still transfer that to the next thing you touch. (ex: you go shopping and touch a product that is contaminated, then you reach into your pocket - your pocket is infected, you grab your keys - your keys are infected, you open your car door - the door handle is infected). Or YOU are infected and you don't know it yet. If you touch your mouth, nose, eyes, or ears, then your hands have the virus on them and you can spread it to whatever you touch. Touch as little as possible. And disinfect/quarantine whatever has been touched by others.
Love you guys. Stay safe. The new production scheme is simply genius! And your commitment to your employees and customers is just spectacularly amazing ❤ I hope you come back stronger! P.S. Doug's "Eskimo Kisses," hilarious! 🤣
Decided to rewatch season 4. Looking back on this now almost 6 months out and with the table Kickstarter, it seems surreal to look back at this time and how it was in the beginning. I am so happy Wyrmwood is basically back up to full capacity and has had all of the success it deserves so far with the table Kickstarter 💙💙
I have to say this breaks my heart. I’m glad to see y’all are still supporting your employees as best you can while still keeping their health and everyone in your communities health a priority as well. My partner and I have been long time fans and love seeing your products. He was especially looking forward to your new kickstarter. I hope y’all are all doing okay in these weird times. I know others have suggested it but delayed orders to help keep you afloat is a great idea. People place orders now and get the item whenever y’all can get to them since or at a later date to help make sure y’all can stay in business and support your employees.
When I saw Bobby's tweet, I wasn't sure what the mood was going to be about this video. I saw the title, and my heart sank. That said, I do have confidence that you're going to rise above all of the problems we're facing, and you'll come back even stronger. The song choice was really apt as well. I wasn't sure if you were going to even have a song, but the softer acoustic version was a good one.
I am not a D&D gamer, but I love watching your videos. I always get excited when I get a notification that a new has premiered. Today I was heartbroken to see it. I will buy something from your website today to help support the wyrmwood family. I really hope and pray that you that wyrmwood comes out of this stronger. Good luck and stay safe.
seeing everyone's attitudes, and especially gates made my eyes water. it's heartbreaking seeing empty workstations but we wish you the best, stay safe everyone. we love you guys.
