I love my boat I have now and I definitely would have made the same choice as you, that said we all ocean men and women know that the can , will and does take from us at times! Insurance? wouldn't that of covered the lost damaged boat? wont it cover the repairs now that you did get it home? I cant believe that you bothered to risk your life for that broken boat, not to mention those that would of had to rescue you or try to rescue you if it went down which was on the cards considering the condition of the hull. but hey its got us all commenting i guess

My First comment only referred to the first minutes of this presentation. I didn't expect what came next. So glad the entire crews made it back safely. I can clearly recall rough conditions a bit more extreme off Port McDonald just over the Vic. border into SA. 50 NMs off shore on the Continental shelf. The wind changed against the sea. We looked up at the mountains of water breaking over the top of our boat which went into free fall until we hit the trough, repeatedly. 6 to 8 knots was too fast as we struggled to keep the vessel upright. hours later we made it into calmer waters where we could just get up onto the plane. My knees were jelly when we made it into harbour safely. Never again I said out loud. Local Fisherman said they lost a lot of people out there who disappeared with only their trailer and vehicle waiting and waiting.

I was witness to someone who jumped in after a 28ft Blackfin at night. They were seriously injured and we still lost this tender at sea. Sooooo glad you are okay. I agree, "Scale it back."
