A note to all the old fogies bemoaning new music.... have you tried to find music acceptable to your tender sensibilities? There is plenty out there, and accessible, but you need to meet it halfway.
Can you imagine the reaction our parents had when this came out? 🤣 I remember when this was banned on some radio stations. A lot of us didn't get how suggestive this was. We just thought it meant he wanted to kiss her over and over.
I love going through and watching Midnight Special clips. What a great time to be alive, experiencing fantastic and unique sounds from the music of the time.
@@michaelasay8587 I am so sorry. No child should have a horrible upbringing. My "youth" in relation to this song was when I was older and kissing a girl. I was older than I care to admit
Shawn and Mel, I was 11 years old in 1978 when this song came out. I absolutely loved it because of the melody and I learned lyrics to songs fast because I listened to the radio ALL THE TIME. Imagine singing these lyrics at 11 years old, not having a clue what this song is about! Afternoon Delight (1976) is another song like that, by the Artist Sarland Vocal Band.
I was 14 when this came out. Had no clue. I was a sheltered child... lol but within a couple months my older sister told me what it meant. I did not need a lesson in afternoon delight but big sisters think otherwise. I thought it was about a picnic 🤷♀️
When DH & I were dating he would brag about what a great skater he had been. Well, I thought it would be really fun to skate as one of date's. He barely managed not to kill himself and finally said: Oh yeah! NOW I remember that it really suckes when you can't get off the floor. So I say to you all. "ladies & gentlemen...my husband.
Takes me back. I can still remember where, when, who I was with the first time I heard this sexy song. That was first time I got a french kiss and first hickey. Thanks for sharing.
Just a few days ago I’m a server in Richmond Ky, and J.P. (Guitarist) sat at my table with his family got a picture with him was a really nice guy. He was surprised a 24 year old me listened to his music.
Love reaction videos, & i love Exile, i remember when this 1st came out, i was 12, wasn't interested in girls yet, but i enjoyed this song, probably because of the all round package, vocals, instruments, the aura Jimmy gave off, then JP adding his lyrics, then all the band, & that bass, tight...PS loving your reaction videos Shawn & Mel, Kia Ora, from Aotearoa(NZ)🫂👊🌹🥂🍻...
Hey this is grown folks music , I sure miss those days , when the music was beautiful , this was our world growing up in America.. a lot of babies were made if you and him got together.. now I'm a grandpa.lol I wouldn't change a thing , about it.😁 Now it's 2021...
Saw these guys about ten years ago. They are still amazing and sound exactly the same. You should look up the songs they wrote for other people as well. A lot of big songs! They eventually moved into country music in the 80's I believe. Great group!
Absolutely amazing song and, as always, a fantastic reaction!! You guys are really bringing back some great memories!! This here is what my wife and I like to call "belly-rubbin' music"!!
I remember reading a review where they made a comment about music going from I Wanna Hold Your Hand (The Beatles) to this! After this, the band went over to country music.
I'm 70 years old, white man, when this come out, it shook the world.
