@@jerusalem4492 I think they got jiddisch and German confused as it can be so similar. Gefillte and gefüllter are quite easy to mix up 🤷🏽‍♀️

Well, it was derived from High German. It's not just a coincidence. Also the other dish "esek flash" is like "Essig Fleisch" translating vinegar meat which makes totally sense since they said it's sweet and sour.

Gary is a gentleman really, I loved how he was telling Ashish what he can eat Now I have more respect for him 🙏🙏🙏🙏 In Hinduism we don't eat beef, steak We worship cow, it gives us milk It's like a mother to us, our dharma don't allow us to eat beef and steak It touched my heart how Gary was taking care of others feelings and respect them I wish him all the success, happiness, good health, prosperity, every good thing to him🌹🌹🌹🌹

Me too. I usually don’t look at comments or comment, but came here to see if I was the only one. I don’t want to judge, and maybe it just hits closer to home since I’m Filipina with relatives and friends who also works/ has worked as a nanny. But my heart hurt a bit.

I Heard „challah” and I though „Oh that sounds a bit similar to me” and than I saw the picture and realised I see what in polish (I’m polish) is called “chałka” (I think it is pronounced a bit like „halka”) 😂❤️ and I love when you have videos with your mom, I always am suprised how many words in Russian is similar to polish🙈

Russian and polish languages are very similar, as Slavonic languages 🙂. Im Bulgarian and i understand very well polish and Russian of course. Greetings from Bulgaria, Valeria 🤗

As a Russian this bring back so many memories! My family will always cover the ENTIRE table with food. When we went to visit them last year it was like a party after a party because we hadn't gone back since we left over 20 years ago. So much food and goodness 😍

@@katielove2726 we do have gefilte fish( it was mentioned in the video) which name is "karp po żydowsku" also maca it is popular as a snack, kugel, cymes. All of these meals are characteristic for Ashkenazim jewls that used to be a big community in eastern europe.

@@JULAz1000 “Used to be a big community.” You mean they used to live in Poland, they used to be your neighbors, until 3 million of them-men, women, children, infants-were murdered (half of the 6 million who were murdered were from Poland). I’m not attacking you. I’m making sure readers understand the true implications behind “used to be a big community.” My family was from Kałuszyn. There is nothing left of the generations of Jewish history in my family’s town. Our cemetery was destroyed, my ancestors’ headstones were used to build streets and walkways. My family’s home was destroyed. Our synagogue was destroyed. A gas station was built on top of its ruins. Don’t forget what happened. My people didn’t just disappear.

I love your content soooo much but was a little disappointed to see that Nory was not included at the dinner. I know she is your nanny but she is still an important part of the family dynamic and should at least be given a place at the table with the other adults there. I am sure she sees you all as family and not just as a job.

Valeria I love that you shared this jewish side of you, I’m not very religious either in fact I’m not at all but I think it’s so important to be proud of where we come from, our culture and our background. It Can be a delicate subject to touch religions on social media but hey the world is made of all kinds of people and the fact that we don’t believe in the same things, come from different places and have different roots and culture IS OK and actually pretty cool to be different :) happy to know more of your russian/jewish side xx :)

In Slovakia, we call it “huspenina”. Also, when we do a broth, we boil The chicken for 1,5 h, just then we add vegetables for 1 hour. Bon apetít Wish u luck Valeria

This reminds me of the first day of Eid at my Grandma’s house. Also breaking fast in the first day of Ramadan with the family. AND Muslim new year celebration. It’s always nice to see similarities between traditions even when the cultures are so far from each other.

Shanah tovah! This was interesting! I am Romanian and we have similar dishes. I am not Jewish. We make the matzah balls with semolina flour. We make roe salad with small red fish eggs. Beetroot salad- we eat it with horseradish and we also make borscht which I love so much. We also make the ''garlic jello'' but we also put meat inside (usually chicken but also pork). I think I've seen stuffed cabbage leaves? We make them with fermented cabbage leaves and we put rice, meat and vegetables inside. And we also make the challah which I love eating with butter. The latkes are my favorite dish. Now that I live in Switzerland, they have something similar here called Rösti so it is really interesting to see how the recipes travel from culture to culture. I would definitely be interested in more food videos!
