played the game for years, quit playing around when i unlocked scorchers because i just couldnt afford to make upgrades more than once per week of grinding
i still remember the old ads for this game which were top tier marketing ngl. ive been playing this game since i was little and re downloaded it a while back maybe like a year or 2 ago. im hq 17 and honestly i dont think the game is bad at all. maybe updates could be better but overall i think it has just the right difficulty and also has lots of opportunities with the statue buffs. the difficulty is perfect imo, kinda reminds me of the difficulty clash of clans had at townhall 8-10 in the old days
The commercials were golden but I assume the original team who made them aren't there anymore... Maybe? Although they were existing as back as about 2-3 years ago, they made commercials for the laser ranger
I still play Boom Beach and love it, but it's really really sad to see that SuperCell doesn't invest much on Boom Beach like Clash of Clans, Clash Royale and Brawl Stars. They need to hire some people who can rework Boom Beach and introduce new ideas and creativity in this game. Boom Beach still has potential but needs proper marketing, advertising, new ideas and rework.
Thing about that is supercell is a company and would more likely rather spend money on what they know will make money rather than risking money on something that might make money. So it’s sad seeing what’s happening to the game.
@@he-in4hc Considering Tencent owns the majority of shares in SuperCell, there's basically nothing they can do if it doesn't earn boat loads of cash in the short term for the chinese corpo.
100% agree, i havent played in forever but i remember progression becoming a huge drag eventually because of how much everything costed and HQ levels being super bland along with it being hard to even get successful attacks done for the loot you need
I don’t mind the pricing but they need to rework the upgrade times for defenses, unlike clash of clans where the time jumps are like 10 secs to 1 min to 5 min, for a game with one builder like boom beach it has a very bad upgrade jumps of 3 secs to 20 mins to 45 mins to 1.5 hour
it's not really a failure Imo, it's just that they completely ignored it for years and never really balanced anything. It was due to neglect. The game still has a somewhat big and dedicated player base.
I would disagree and say that was the effect, not the cause. Boom beach was way more of a time commitment, if some of your troops died, you have to always keep an eye on your device for when the troops come back. Dr Evil or whatever guy + campaign islands took so long, while in clash you do two raids and turn off the device for 2 hours
Neglected, unbalanced, and pay to win like most supercell games. Troop training takes too long, 1 builder for hundreds of buildings with dozens of upgrades EACH, and you can alleviate that with a builder you can pay a MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION to get. It’s dumb, because a pacific era island hopping war game is a super cool idea. On paper.
@@zachellenburg5738 you can say it's not perfectly balanced at this point (Megas, key spam, etc.), but that's your opinion which is not rightful to enforce it to anyone else except to yourself
Boom Beach was That Game, it's what got me into strategy games and Supercell in general. I was like 8 yrs old playing it in 2014, Nickatnyte was Booming in Boombeach too, Mega crab events were new, I lost both of my high level accounts too Lmfaoo. However I could never get over how you could only have one builder for the many of upgrades that there were.
@@sbboom4285we do need things to help us progress faster like second builder but if you do play the game enough, you can get other resources like gems to speed up upgrades or maybe even building blueprints or attack plans to instantly finish upgrades We do need a second builder of some sort because if you go offense mainly, you will never get those small buildings upgraded 😂😂
Such a shame about Boom, that game was my childhood lol i play that before clash. Just the game never popped off and the devs just gave up with now its only recycled content. I played until i maxed out at HQ 25 (no clue if they have actually added a new one) and pushed to around top 200 in the whole world but the games lack of content was so stale i just gave up, restarted clash and since then i haven't touched Boom in a few years now edit: wow guess they did add a new hq with plans for others. Guess that's something going for the game.
Dam it took them YEARS to add Something like a Building with Troops. Like a Building that Can Store troops inside. Clash of clans with the clan building and builder base has a guard post which both can have Troops inside. NOW that boom beach is a Military like game And it didn't have that for YEARS until now. Ps: it's only available for HQ level 26 🤦♂️
@thebluetrooper15 that's ridiculous. After hearing the new update, I looked into it. Yet again, after idk how many years they still haven't bothered to update the textures of the defences new levels. Before they only changed the base plate but this time it was nothing that's so lazy. As well as that new bunker building it's only unlocked at hq26 and is completely useless until the maxed level so you can't use it until its done. Should be unlocked at probably hq 20 or so and build up. Shame about the game
Latest update makes you spend months to update every building without any updates to the visuals at all, not even minimal changes. Imagine clash brought out TH17 with no changes whatsoever to the visuals. But you still had to grind bigger resources for every upgrade and you had to upgrade everything as usual. They’d lose a lot of players.
I still remember how fascinated i was when they added the design stages for the sniper tower. I played the game when the only changes where Level 1 to 3, then 7 and then they added constand small improvements for level 4 to 6 and past 7 aswell which made me really happy back then. Clash Of Clans nowadays has the Problem of them constandly releasing a new townhall each year. They literally added content for townhall 14 which was missing for over 2 years while townhall 15 and especially 16 have almost nothing. They should now take atleast 2 year for the content of each townhall for preperations because the way it is now is just empty designs
Thats my biggest issue with boom beach. I really enjoy the combat, but its just so unrewarding to upgrade buildings and have them look exactly the same. Its especially bad since you can only upgrade one at a time.
@@tobiasbayer4866 wtf they do not look exactly same, each upgrade changes how building looks, cannon lvl 7-8 can look pretty much same bc they got bigger barrels than previous levels, only point where they stop changing is when you max out and then just floor starts changing, yet there are TONS of stuff before it, and in clash of clans you get sometimes insanely long upgrade times, in boom beach LONGEST is 2 days, which is at pretty much end of game.
What Boom Beach needs is not new troops. It needs an overhaul and improvement on the infrastructure, Overlay and additional features like seeing whose online, sending private messages. All of these little things will improve Boom Beach greatly. The chat needs rework and so does graphics department. Boom Beach is one of my favorite supercell games, I hope there was something like a Megacrab in Clash of clans.
Agreed. I had a break for 6-years and came back two weeks ago. Enjoying it lots more now as they didn't have warships and now I can upgrade even further. There is so much that can be done with it
This video leaves a few stuff out on how you can really progress, statues which gives you boosts, mega crab which gives you rewards, dr t islands, daily chests and operation chests after you complete an operation with your task force, war factory (although difficult) lieutenant hammerman islands and lastly which i know is converting tickets you get from warships for randomized rewards If you actually play the game and know how to get the most out of it, progress becomes pretty easy
@SjjimmieBOOMBEACHVIDEOS Thank you! Enjoy your vids btw. So many times over the years I've heard that BB is dead and yet it has a new update, a larger dev team. If I sucked at a game because I didn't learn a few skills I'd probably be saying that it's a dead game too. Maxing out your base doesn't make you a good player, because less people are playing BB doesn't make it a dead game. Huge respect for Boom Beaches active and loyal community. If I didn't like Wendy's I would not be going to Wendy's to tell other people that Wendy's is dead. I would just move on to something else I like, end of story.
@@kansaskachinait's just that the dev team is quite small and slow, but they have recently increased their pace at how many updates they do each year. I mean we just had an update, a small one at that but it shows that we are still getting some stuff. I also just enjoy certain aspects of the game, you can try multiple different armies, play in ops, warships, whatever. I'm honestly having more fun in this than CoC at the moment
Hahaha guy is glazing dead forgotten game about his "skills" oh sure trow some zookas and smoke wow ur so skilled, what?? core didn't die i need more damage oh [RNG based statues] yep thats it. Keep coping yourself and ur 500 viewers accept the game is dead and a fail
One of my fondest memories is my uncle, brother and I watching the commercials for this game while my uncle was being treated for cancer. "Destroying this tower has no strategic value whatsoever." Had us laughing hard for a solid ten minutes, lmfao.
The company shouldn't shut down ANY game unless it has exactly 0 players. Just because you aren't playing a game, doesn't mean other people hadn't invested their time or money into it. Also minor complaint but some of the dates mentioned were completly wrong by a factor of years.
Supercells main goal is still making money, just like any other company. It takes money to sustain the servers and pay developers to work at a game. If not many people play a game, its not worth it to keep a game running
8:35 I can see where you are going with that but you got the game mode completely wrong. The game mode IS about rebuilding. Whoever rebuilds the right things and establishes a good starategy with the resources in hand wins so its more strategy based but in the other hand you usually get rolled over in coc bc some guy with 2 higher level giant cannon rolls you over and punishes you for not playing the game from an earlier date
I played it for like 10 months in 2016, this I what I felt: progress to slow, you had to grind a lot for a little progress and it seemed impossible to reach the top, the battles became stale because there wasn’t a diversity during attacks, you just had to play the meta and also it was too much difficult, you really had to try a lot to win the ‘clan’ wars so you couldn’t play casual and at the end there were no major updates so the players felt like playing was useless and not rewarding or at least that’s what I felt at that time
there is no ads??? you can just prefer to not watch them they are optional for players who want more rewards also hay day is third best game and has ads
I’ve played clash of clans and clash royale. I was d*ing from boredom. Clash of clans takes way more time to progress than boom beach. The wall is so annoying. You get really small resources from attacks if you actually succeed. The defenders are dozens of times higher than your army’s power. In order to get the good troops you need to wait months if not years. The system of the game is horrible. The clans are filled with toxic players. They’re really not comparable to boom players. As for clash royale what can I say. A bad mini game of clash of clans. Basically nothing there. Only 1v1 and the same nonsense troops. At least boom beach doesn’t have a bad mini game in another app. We the boom beach supporters who play for years don’t have the same opinion. And what 2014 release nonsense. I’ve been playing since 2012 when there were already global players and global teams with high scores and a whole bunch of systems and strategies. You need to make a better research
Ive been playing Boom Beach for around 4 years most days a week and I still like the game a lot, I just think they need to add more content to the already existing HQs to make the progression for players leveling up more enjoyable. I got to HQ 26 about a week after its launch and its the first HQ level thats had new content with it in a long time 😢 HQ 21-25 have baraly anything while COC get 2+ new troops and a new defense for every hq level.
4:59 I think they are super unique bc a pro clash player cant just get good at attacks in boom beach that explains how different they are in terms of mechanics. At the end the only part similar is they are both top down isometric base builder games
Oh my god this video is a disaster at least talk with people that has been playing the game for years. Who said warships was a bad gamemode?? Boom beach is probably active bc of warships
They make a new a update but there was one big mistake they change the radar that mistake will destroy the new players a lot of them will quit very fast Im old player my respect 🎉❤🎉
There is a very simple reason why boom beach died It's simply a harder game than the usual supercell game Sure it had issues with grind but that's not something new to any supercell game It just had a way higher skill floor
I am from brazil and o really liked this video. In my country, nobody talked about this content, but i found ur video, and with my study and the subtitles, i could follow your idea
1 builder, absurdly upgrade high costs, upgrade times, troop training times, power powder acquisition, unbeatable bases without casualties, prototype defenses, extremely unrewarding task force operations, unchanging upgrade models (troops and buildings), warships being completely pointless for your main base, etc. All of these problems just compound to make the game unenjoyable. At least give the troops new models for their upgrade levels. How am I supposed to tell the difference between a rifleman that gets one shot by a machinegun and one that can survive a low level cannon?
you now it takes 1/5 th of the time to max an account in boom beach than coc??? Warships have insane diamond and power powder rewards for the main base I think you dont know the game
I agree, still though most buildings take around at most like 2-3 and maybe 4 at the highest level (my lvl 15 boom cannons took 1d14h, the max is lvl 20) It definitely is slow but if you don't have a max/near max level account, getting your highest level higher is always exciting. I'm just looking forwards to getting to HQ 24, those double scorcher, double mech or even double prototroop boats are gonna be very fun to have
You can actually do that today even easier... Rifleman now only take 10 seconds to train each one so you can hypothetically clear your whole map as easy as that
Man, no offense but this was such a bad take. You don’t understand anything about the game, we’ve got tons of new updates and features recently, also the warships mode does carry progress over season to season - you just failed to actually look into what you’re talking about at all. Competitive play isn’t good for a game? L take after L take lol. Also noticed you used some of mine and comsics gameplay, thanks for the shoutout 😒
Well mostly. There are 2 air troops but they only exist in warships and as a prototroop in the normal base, those being the rocket choppa and the heavy choppa
@@mohammedwalid2522 the rocket choppa isn't op, it is very fragile and it's main benefit is that it can avoid all ground targeting defenses, have decent range (same as a cannon) and move really fast. The Heavy Choppa on the other hand is very much overpowered, it doesn't do much damage but it periodically spawns heavies, and when destroyed spawns more heavies and the initial Choppa has a lot of HP, and similar speed of that of a rocket choppa
Boom beach fails because it punishes progress. There is no way to progress or get loot if you are good at attacking. I'm level 39, but am paired with 55's. I can't win, so I don't get loot. Bad players sink down and make it awful
This is because you aren't good enough at the game yet. I don't mean any offense, but that's just the truth. It doesn't punish progress...it just means you have to overcome a skill gap to continue making progress. When you are good at the game, it's very easy to kill any level base even as a level 39 (especially with warriors or smokey heavy+zooka).
I remember playing Boom beach when they added this feature that you can design the enemy commanders base. This was back in 2016 and I'm guessing thats one of the reasons why people played it. What was special about this feature was that you could actually access all of the levels
Been playing it thanks to Squad Busters re-sparking my interest on it and it's quite fun really (I actually got sick of Squad Busters but I'm playing this game still), heavily unbalanced and slow in the beginning, but I find a lot of gameplay aspects far more fun than Clash of Clans. The problem is you can tell how derivative the game is, most gamemodes are a carbon copy of the base one, every event is the same, nothing changes. Boom Beach won't shut down for now because, despite it's lackluster state and gains, it also has a really low budget when compared to other games. This is also the same reason why it doesn't grow, the team is really small compared to the other games and, unlike Hay Day team, they clearly haven't found their footing and can't make their small budget work into something greater.
They are trying to increase the total budget by introducing ads and now with the additions of the boom pass, those 2 seems to make a decent amount of income to potentially increase the budget for more updates I understand this is just increasing of monetization policies but it's hard to have a good budget when you are having to give 80% of the income to the shareholding Chinese company Tencent At least we know the team isn't like how the Cr team or the CoC team is, those groups seem to have much worse intents than Boom Beach who is just trying to survive, upkeep the game so the players who like the game can still play and maybe get 1 big update every 1-2 years with some small updates in between. We got used to this slow schedules and even with that we got new troops quite quickly about 2-3 years ago, those 2 (Mech & laser Langer) were brought almost together and that was really big If you have no to little patience, don't play Boom Beach. If you have patience, you can. It will also make you more patient person overall
I actually loved this game when it launched and I drifted towards Boom Beach rather than CoC. Had my account up until January of this year where I announced it to my task force that I was retiring from Boom. Destroyed one last base. Took down Gearheart and signed off, deleting my account. It was hard to let go of my teenage years, but it has to happen.
I started with Boom Beach, and reluctantly moved to CoC... The real problem was the bases in the Archipelago, they were, for the most part, just too difficult. You'd get a look at a base, build your offense to the point you could take it down, and when you came back, it was already a tougher base. This just turned the game into a grind... In CoC, I can skip until I find a base I want to attack. I might attack a base (or 2) higher than me if it's got a lot of loot, or if I like the challenge. But mostly, I like attacking bases that are dead and have a lot of loot. I save my "Challenging" battles, for competition in League war. They should have made it so the bases in the Archipelago were slightly lower than you, then it wouldn't have been such a grind, and still fun to play.
It's a great concept, being similar to Clash but having it's unique flavour. But it falls short when you only have 1 builder and a 2nd locked behind a paywall. With so much things to upgrade (despite there being no walls!) buildings and army just take up too much sitting time for one to properly enjoy the game. It doesn't help that troops DIE and well some can take up to almost 24 minutes or higher PER TROOP. The games opponent match making isn't great either, coupled with slow progression but relatively fast league climbing leaves you bare of finding a good base to raid. I could go on about too strong defenses, lack of good or new troops, etc etc. If the game ever got a major overhaul I'd at least expect an animation to try and revive the game again.
Its the fact Devs are going in the compltely opposite direction to get people to play again, making progression longer is the dumbest thing to do. You aren't suffering from people getting bored and running out of things to do, youre suffering from having a singular builder and insanely long build times, so long that while waiting for things to build you allow people to either forget about the game or they find another game that catches their eye.
Here in Vietnam, the game got banned somehow (maybe i just don't know the reason). I and my brother used to play this game alot, like I have to borrow my dad's phone in order to play. After that thing happened, we thought the game got brought down so there's no way to access it anymore. Just a couple of months ago, I found out that the game can be downloaded via apk, just glad I can play this game again.
Played bb in 2016 for a while , and then back 2024 Feels like nothing chance much , besides heros added , like in coc But feels like just a coc with skin now , and theres no events besides blackguard
