I know digsite is amazing, and the support for the game is cool, and that but I really hope they fix the new bugs, there are some that need to be fixed that are new, and some are bad dude.
Is this a mod or is this an update to the base game? I’m kind of confused. If it is in the base game, I hope there’s a toggle (not because I don’t think this is cool, it is, but I also still want the option to experience both the original version and the new update).
Dude, whoever's keeping the MCC alive, should be praised for this. This series is over two decades old, and this area of 343i wants to ensure that we get to experience every little shred of Bungie's legacy, even the parts that didn't make it in time. My hats off to them, this is the mother of all pipe dreams come true.
@@agentnukaz1715 For me, its a solemn happiness, knowing that although their happy work will be out there, it'll only be to save the butt of a corporation who long ago should've had the boot hit it on the way out.
@@SunnyMitten I'm sure that's what the current Bungie devs are thinking, and not just the projections of someone who is hyper critical of everything except himself.
@@gaiusjuliuscaesar9902 So is this another 343 shill that calls himself a halo fan but is not and is just a 343 industries fan? Yeah no, BUNGIE made it literally clear that HUMANS WERE FORERUNNERS, to accept otherwise means YOU ARE NOT A HALO FAN. [Also 343 literally botched the franchise and deserve to go but due to Microsoft's ego of having made a game studio that SOMEHOW DID EVEN WORSE THAN EVEN EA, JUST TO KEEP HALO ALIVE SO THEY CAN MILK IT TO DEATH THEN MAKE CLOTHING OUT OF THE SKIN, EAT THE MEAT, BREW THE BONES INTO A SOUP, AND FIND ANOTHER COW TO DO THE SAME DAMN THING TO.]
I hope they can add the earlier Master Chief models to CE multiplayer as unlockable bipeds, it'd be cool to see people playing as different looking Spartans in the CE engine
It will require a rewrite e extension to the CE engine to support it, as the engine cannot support different player biped on the fly, only the colors/skins.
Modding is unfortunately not directly compatible with consoles. Much of this is barely possible on PC, and requires tons of work and time, whereas it may not even be possible at all on consoles. You can't just use a random new scripting language and expect the console to understand it. Also, verification of the mods is expensive, time consuming, and if they were released for a fee to compensate for doubling the workload of the modders, then it would be unfair to console players as not everyone would be able to jump in and play it. All in all, yes, I hope it does-but don't hold out hope for it. Very unlikely, but see if you can ask the Dig Site team yourself or find if someone else already has.
@@vintageoriginallegit both were made in Bethesda's own engine with that in mind. This may not be possible with how MCC is coded but again I can't be sure.
@@NEURALDELVER Yep. MCC is an entirely different beast and a majority of these folks don't understand that. It doesn't have the Creation Engine that Skyrim and Fallout have.
I hope the digsite team can restore some of the Halo online and h4 content in the future. Hold up, I just remembered that H3 Cortana mission reused some of the cut flood ship mission assets. I wonder if they have access to a build of it ,and guardian forest level (flood scarabs?)
Halo Online did have that cool desert version of Avalanche. I honestly don't know why they haven't just ported them over yet. Hopefully they are just waiting to get them all completed and do a season release with the remaining ones.
@@astrealbrizbee9815 There are a few maps they haven’t add to mcc. Those maps are Reactor,Skybridge(though in game screenshots),Diamondback(avalanche remake, still looks great though ). Also there may be a few maps that were almost completed like Skybridge and waterfall that could be touched up and added.
@@EpicGamingGruntwell remember they aren't constrain by seasons anymore. So they just work on it when they feel these are ready in chunks or something.
@@bobafett3035 It doesn't outright say it's for PC. The image does. But they content update is for both platforms. We'll find out tomorrow in the preview won't we? They can't update one version without the other simply because of cross-play. It would brick the shit of the console version if they updated PC but not Xbox. The article also did not state the update was exclusively for PC, like I said updating one version and not the other will completely break the non-updated version.
I want a custom game browser for the non-anti-cheat version and have it act like GMOD. If I see a cool map being played it will auto download from the steam store and I can join. THAT right there will make the Halo mod community explode.
Digging into old fires, restoring cut content and refreshing the classic games along into the new era should have been 343's main focus since the start. Glad they finally flushed enough people to get the team on track 12 years later.
They need to do an art gallery for each game in the extras menu. Would be cool to see the warthog launch mini game from the H3 LE disc be put in the extras menu as well. Hope as much cut content as possible will be restored from all games and added officially into MCC on all platforms not just PC. Console mods need to happen. So much can still be done.
My primary concern is how these may be reimplemented. It’s important to me that we keep cut content distinct from shipped content, as that separation is very important! A lot of content was cut for good reason, and historical preservation is crucial for a collection like MCC.
@@xXsillysussyXx Pretty sure this is actually modded content that is being added to the base game as an update. If you read the 343 article it says all this stuff is coming in an update, this isn't just mods, it's actual content being added to all versions of the base MCC game.
@@Xenomnipotent i feel as if infinites team always gets the wrong end of the stick. It feels like people still associate the team with Bonnie Ross even though it’s very different nie
Just to clarify, all that means is that modders can now enable their custom weapons to use a thirdperson camera like they can in Halo 3. There won't be a thirdperson toggle just plopped on top of vanilla CE.
@@commando7238 If your referring to The Vengeful Vadam, I played his mod that restored cut halo 2 content a few months ago. It almost felt like playing a brand new game. Fighting the cut flood juggernaut is amazing!
I would really like to play the Halo 2 E3 demo that was insane to watch when I was 11. Haha, I love Halo. The good ol days of couch Slayer matches with all my friends.
apparently it's the half a billion dollar slipspace engine that is so hard to develop things on that they are moving on to unreal for the next game, sad!
MCC is the only game I play. The only reason I purchased an Xbox 1. Now imagine if 343 releases all this content but it’s only obtainable through playing MCC. A whole new vanguard achievement list must be beaten to get this. It would bring so many players back to the game. Like beat halo 2 legendary (4 player if added) to unlock the E3 demo. People would make new friends and find old friends to do this.
This is actually amazing. This is something I could have only dreamed of as a kid. I think it’s fantastic they worked with modders to restore this content.
So why doesn’t 343 take all that manpower and update, add new maps to ranked etc, the game they released less than 2 years ago? Or did they forget they are meant to be running a halo game similar to the lack of a trailer they forgot about at the biggest event?
Digsite is mostly comprised of community modders, the only known 343 employees on that team are Ken Peters (The Senior Franchise Writer) and Sean Cooper (A Publishing Team member), i.e people that probably wouldn't have had much to do with actually resurrecting all this cut content.
If I can say one thing bungie has done good recently is canonizing a lot of older halo stuff from the pre lore. We know what a Covenant master in hd looks like because he was in a book. We also know what Johnson in his Orion armor looks like now and that both are real things cannon to halo.
Would love them bringing in halo 5 to this collection and also update every halo put all weapons from each in all so can get to play different weapons in different gameplay styles. Also the graphics for all should be updated and all the internet stuff fine tuned and game optimized so that halo can be back to life. Especially halo reach brought back to life would be insane
Eh, do we really want to include Halo 5? There is something about it that is probably best not to include it in the collection and be its own thing. And given at the moment MCC is still meant to run on Xbox one and had try to keep the front end functional for years... And suggesting to add the Halo 5 wrench on top of it might be a bit too much or even a daunting task for this small crew.
@@Deliveredmean42I'd like h5 to be on mcc but it would probably break the game. If it could come back maybe start like how they added h5 forge to pc see if people would be interested again. Overall I think mcc is complete it and this update is a good celebration of that.
We don't need Halo 5 in MCC. It should have it's own full steam port instead. Why are people still thinking this? Halo 5 is over 100 gigs on its own, it should NEVER be added to MCC.
Its perfectly okay gpu-wise though on the Xbox Series X though, at 60 fps, trouble is that you will occasionally get the infinite load bug, so yeah, best way to fix it is to start a quick skirmish, then quit, then you can load/play any campaign or dlc element without the infinite load bug.
It’s a crime that the finished unrealized maps for halo ce, 2 and the halo online maps were not added into the official multiplayer rotation…. Not to mention the back catalog of maps made by the community with mod tools for halo ce and two, also halo 3 and reach forge maps…. There should be many maps added into the rotation. Such a boneheaded missed opportunity. Yet they can add forge made maps into infinite….
I am curious on what it would take or what they would have to do to put all of these mods on Xbox. That is one of the things that I think would revive Halo or just the Master Chief Collection as a whole. There are already some amazing mods on PC like Reach Multiplayer maps being made into Firefight maps, custom campaigns, the Mythic Overhaul mods. I think it would be could if modders could somehow upload those mods to an Xbox workshop or have it transfer over so Xbox players can play it.
I really hope they can make some kind of in house modded campaign for Halo CE with all this new stuff on xbox aswell.. I'd be 100% for some new CE missions maybe some stuff from the books or like Fire Team raven. They can take their sweet time on the next Halo game if they drop stuff like this.
I am so excited to play all this, my only complaint is that it seems to only be going to pc mod support and not being a part of the game itself. Not everyone has a pc and its weird seeing a xbox exclusive not focus on the console experience
I think its stupid its going to only be for pc, why cant all the restorations come to xbox too. At least the maps, CE chief models and all cut weapons could all come to customs surely?
Technically it could happen. Fallout 4 had mod support on Xbox and I think Skyrim did too. The biggest problem though is that the crew working on mcc is VERY small. If 343 hired people to work on add a workshop to the xbox version, it could be possible. Though like the steam version, you’d need two different versions of the game (one with anti cheat and one without) to make it work.
The number one thing in my opinion that the MCC team needs to do is make campaign co-op use an asynchronous network model. Even if it takes years to make, this will finally make co-op campaign playable in MCC.
As excited as I am about this, I gotta say, more excited than I am about anything on Infinite currently. Say what you will about Infinite, but in my opinion, Halo MCC still appeals to a wider variety of old an new fans than Infinite ever did. Infinite was a trend chaser, minus probably Forge. I'm looking forward to this.
I think that 343 will still not add mods to the MCC on Xbox, or this new content. Xbox MCC might as well be the Orange Box. It’s sad but it’s most likely true.
How is this a bad thing? This is fantastic in terms of preservation and for fans to enjoy new content never seen before. Besides, isn't MCC supposed to be a celebration for the Halo series? Why not add cut content for modders to mess with?
You’re right. I’m all for mods on console and cut content. But it’s just been slightly annoying seeing all the posts being just about PC content. I have no issue with PC as I game on there as well, but I really like Xbox as it has higher frame rates.
@samuelscott6119 I understand it can be a bit of a bummer to see more PC support in some way, but im pretty certain they'll make a mod browser for the game to let console owners play dev approved mods made by the community. Bethesda did something similar with Skyrim a while back(although it was bad), that can be used a nice starting point for MCC moving forward. No way they are leaving xbox owners in the dust. Also, gonna be "that guy" for a moment about that high fps thing. PC GPU's are really powerful nowadays. Even on my rtx 2060 I can run MCC at 300+ fps. Unfortunately Xbox just sticks to 120fps for cost effectiveness and limitations for certain games. Not trying to sound rude, just wanna give my two cents on that topic.
@megaman37456 they've also mentioned in the notes that most of the content coming back will be left to the modders since they don't have enough assets or purpose for them to be fully utilized. So more than likely this update is just for PC, but I do hope I am wrong and do something for Xbox.
@@grizzerz64 343 gonna be sitting on one really uncomfortable throne of spikes and fire if they don't give the Xbox version a parity update. I'm not joking the community will crucify them for it.
@@megaman37456 if anything, hopefully they could implement something in the future like a mod list of approved mods for Xbox and the likes. It'll definitely improve the modding scene by making it easier to list and install directly to the game without having to through the game's files. Time will tell, but my fingers are crossed.
Since many people seem to be a tad confused I'd like to lay some things out here: 1. MCC and Infinite's development teams are separate, there is no overlap between what's happening here and what's (not) happening in Infinite. Furthermore, Digsite is mostly comprised of community modders, the only known 343 employees on that team are Ken Peters (The Senior Franchise Writer) and Sean Cooper (A Publishing Team member), i.e people that probably wouldn't have had much to do with actually resurrecting all this cut content. 2. The tags (weapons, vehicles, enemies, etc.) are being added as a resource to MCC's modding tools, they _aren't_ being implemented into Combat Evolved itself. CE will remain as it is. 3. There's currently no word on whether the Digsite maps will be added to matchmaking, but I wouldn't rule it out at as a later update across all platforms. For now we know they'll be a part of the mod tools. 4. I see a lot of you wondering why this "isn't coming to Xbox". Simply put, it's not "new" content for _the game,_ it's "new" content for _modders to use._ There'd be no point in bloating your installs with a bunch of stuff you can't really make use of. If you want something console-like that can play the stuff modders will make out of this pick up a Steam Deck and its dock, barring a few small issues in hyperspecific circumstances and no splitscreen, it'll work basically the same.
This better be on the console versions instead Of just pc like modding. This is content for halo when it was on the og Xbox it should be on the Xbox versions
Personally, I could not care less about any of these updates. I haven't touched MCC since Infinite came out and expect I'll only return once every few years for the nostalgia trip. That being said, I'm happy to see so many MCC fans excited about this content. Not everything has to be for me and it's cool to see 343 giving fans access to all of these historical assets to play around with.
Man they really shouldn’t have something that says “none left behind” when console players are being completely left out. It’s probably not in reference to that but it still stings
