Best part of the whole video is the line: BE the neighbor like Doug. We are blessed to have an entire neighborhood of two cul de sacs and we are all like Dougs to each other. Be well friend!
Be like Doug! Love it!! I’ve said many times to those who talk about wanting better friends…”want a friend? Be a friend”. I hope you are being as good to Doug as he deserves.
FYI: I live just west of you and my brother put in a pond several years ago and to help with homeowners insurance, the local fire department put a stand pipe in so their pumper truck could get water to help fight fires. Not sure if you would be interested but now would be the time to do so. Really enjoy your channel. Randy
That will definitely work for holding the sand in place and keep it also from mixing with the clay. A big thanks to Doug for the help and the update last week on my comment.
Another smooth operation, assisted by Doug. I am lucky to have a neighbor like him who comes to my rescue regularly! He keeps me out of some of the trouble I tend to get into by taking on too much. Very blessed to have such people in our lives.
So funny - when you said "be a Doug," I had been thinking during your last couple of videos with Doug that I want to be a Doug! I love helping others! ❤ Does Doug have a RU-vid channel? He should!! 👍
He has: it is *One Eye Customs* ru-vid.com/show-UC5HuhW1Y5Yvjysiq-RP05ng He has no vids on it (yet), but if we put in some effort in cheering him on, he just might start doing that... He took some pointers off Adam ;-)
Use to and still watch my subscribed RU-vid channels everyday and you my friend have become by favorite channel to watch and tune into. I really enjoy seeing what your up to and doing. Your a huge inspiration to my daily life on my 10 acres. Keep it up man
I totally agree with you is be the doug neighbor. Years ago in my old house. My nextdoor neighbors wife came over. She told me she thinks she has a leaking pipe. Well I grabbed my plumbing tote and a piece of copper pipe. Yep it was leaking. I was able to fix it. Her husband was at a ballgame. Well the next day when I got home from work. I had a case of whiskey on my back patio. It was just a little thanks. I always keep at least a four foot piece of half inch copper pipe in my shop. You know pipes never leak at a convenient time.
I am a firm believer in "If you give, you will get it back someday". So be a Doug and a Doug will show up in your life. When is the Doug Merch coming? lol
My 2 year old and I love your videos. "Be the neighbor like Doug!" Excellent reminder, thank you Adam and Doug! Maybe even a t-shirt idea for your channel. :)
Really nice of Doug to help out. I try to be “Doug “ as often I can and my neighbors reciprocate as often as they can, too. Makes the world a little bit better each time.
Ow, I wanted to say that 🤣. Come On Adam let’s have a “Be like Doug” shirt 😀 Just need cheap international shipping (if there is such a thing) to the 🇬🇧. All the best to you and Doug.
You know Adam, most people who want a beach in the middle of December go on vacation… Not build one in their front yard! I like your style man the pond is looking great so is the garage keep it up!
Nice job Adam and Doug. Being a good neighbor is what you want to be. In the 30 years that we have lived in our house I have been involved with my neighbors on many projects. From a 30x30 garage build to multiple decks, including my own, to taking trees down and home remodels. Everyone brings something special to the table.
Good job Adam and neighbor Doug, hopefully the sand will be able to settle instead of washing down. Really looks good. Stay safe, Fred. 🙏🏻🙏🏻👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻✋🏻✋🏻
You nailed it right there : _be_ the neighbour like Doug. What goes around, comes around. Looking good there Adam, that beach area will be just perfect. Take care & stay safe ;-)
Looks beautiful Adam. A commenter brought up the possibility of erosion of your sand barrier dam. Maybe you could top coat it with bentonite and run a small vibratory compactor over it. It might make it last longer. Or top coat it with fine crushed smooth stone? Patrick from Pittsburgh
Nicely done. I have been restoring a 8 year old farm pond into a swimming hole. I will be putting in a beach next summer and will have to do this with water. Looking forward to the enjoyment, but not the task itself. Good job having the foresight I did not
I watched your videos on aeration with the farm pond. We will be adding something similar this summer. Great information. RU-vid is great isn’t it. Sharing ideas
That berm holding the sand in place is begging to have a few giant well placed boulders. Maybe one on either side 10-15ft in to mark your ice rink and be a fun jumping off platform. One barely submerged in the middle as a sort of seat/resting area.
Two questions so far... 1) Why does your water look eerie green? 2) I'm curious what the county and the state has to say about building ponds and retaining water?
I recently found your channel a lot of great content! While watching Doug’s garage tour I heard you bring up his history in the injection molding and tool and die industry. I too am in a similar field. To me a little video of his history in that and the business as well as lean manufacturing insights would be cool.
Would be nice to get a pond aeration windmill on the bank, would help with algea but also look very appealing. I know, easy to spend other people's money and tell them what to do, but if you have the finances it is worth it in my opinion.
I'm curious if large rocks at the dam area would help keep the clay dam from washing away with time. It would also allow swimmers to know where the sandy beach area ends. Just a thought.
Growing up we had a pond well more like a over flow spillway but it always had water, previous owners before my we bought it had the waters edge dredged it like this one, so you could gradually walk into it, they added river gravel and rocks, it help with erosion, on dry seasons when water was low they would add more sand if needed, we never did, but it does work, well at least while we owned that property, we never had problems with it
The pond is looking good Adam! Curious what size your Kioti tractor is, I'm sure you've talked about it in other videos but I'm looking at a 35hp. I do remember you talking about being pretty happy with it except for a couple of minor things. Thanks
Hi, I enjoy watching your videos. Looking at the amount of water flowing in makes me wonder if the evaporation rate in the summer will be quite a lot higher than that, given that the incoming will be less than the present rate. Is there any way you can increase it ?. That's a pretty big surface area that you're going to have.
Doug, next time you pull with your truck turn it around pull from the front going backward! Now you have the weight of the engine for traction you will be surprised how much more you can pull this way.
The only problem with that is the ring & pinion in the axles is weaker when working in reverse vs going forwards. If anything put a tote of wood in the bed for weight.
Adam, I know it didn’t make an appearance in this video but can you tell me more about the addition to your rangers cargo box. Looking for something similar for mine and striking out. Thanks in advance
I have a suggestion the state of Michigan created beach area in the winter when the lake is frozen for a while. They Wood layer Bisquine very thick Bisquine on top of the ice and then they would take and dump dump truck loads of sand on top of the Bisquine and once the ice melted in the spring it would all fall to the bottom so they never had to worry about getting out when it was unseasonable to do so think about have a good day love you show
I give your wife all the credit for letting you have fun and tinker haha , i can’t even split a cord of wood a month without having to take a fake sick day lol
Your video quality is great man.. But.. Please get a separate audio recorder, you can get ones that attach to your camera, or just get the handheld ones
I think the beach area is a great idea and I don’t mean to be that guy but when that sand does slide down and eventually fill that ditch I think you will half to dredge that pond much sooner in return costing more money and upkeep - we just did ours and it was a big project
