A little offroad action with our 2021 Yamaha Viking EPS.
This vehicle continues to IMPRESS and has handled every challenge we've thrown at it!
We ALMOST had it stuck once in this same stream but with the help of the 4WD Differential Lock and some tight space maneuvering it pulled itself through.
A+ Rating for the new ride!

The viking will prove itself 10 years later. They are durable beyond the intended use, and look great with a 2 inch lift and 28s or 30s. Drivetrain is near indestructable.

Very sweet looking utv. As of right now my purchase is gonna be between the Polaris 570 full size or the Viking. I like the style of the Viking better but like the performance of the 570 better and heard what it can do. Guess its gonna come down to who can give me a better deal

How do you find the ride quality and comfort level??? Im thinking about going from a 2021 Grizzly, so my wife is more comfortable...Any advice is appreciated, thanks!! I realize Ill be giving up nimbleness, but Im sure it will be better?
@TapArchery

Very comfortable! Almost like driving a small passenger vehicle....this is not your old school ATV ride!

Any chance you could show the same drive but from an outside perspective? Having someone film you? I’d love to see the grades you descended and climbed.
@TapArchery
@TapArchery 2 года назад
Absolutely! I'll have to do it again sometime in the winter after I'm done hunting on my property.... But just know that the grades are fairly steep! This vehicle handled it easily.

How is the noise level when on long rides? Does it get annoying?
@TapArchery
@TapArchery 2 года назад
probably about as loud as most ATVs out there, it's something you get accustomed to.... have never checked it with dB meter from the cab... I will though!
@Cla55clown

Does it have engine breaking for when going down a steep slope?
@TapArchery
@TapArchery 2 года назад
yes! very much so.... to the point that unless you're on a very steep incline like this, little use of the actual physical brake pedal is required.
@tompolak394

What degree angle is that first downhill part? Seems to be around a 20-25% degree angle (40-50 % grade)
@TapArchery
@TapArchery Год назад
honestly don't know for certain.... it's STEEP... I'd guess that your guess is about correct though.
@tompolak394
@tompolak394 Год назад
@@TapArchery I guess the real question is can your viking go back up that same hill. Downhill is "easy." :)
@TapArchery
@TapArchery Год назад
@@tompolak394 it can! however given the steep grade in order to avoid rollover you have to drive in more of a switchback style.

When you say “four wheel drive differential” I’m assuming you mean you are using the option to lock the the front differential correct? I have the same Viking, the rear diff is permanently locked and the front can be left open and run in 4WD or locked so both axles are locked for max grip. Can you just clarify what you mean? For future videos it would be easier to say “I locked” the front differential as everyone knows what that means. 🤘
@TapArchery
@TapArchery 3 года назад
Yes the rear is permanently locked I would assume.

I like utility models because you can get in and out of them easily, and, most of my wheeling is simply cruising around looking for wildlife and enjoying the scenery. I had a Polaris Ranger for many years. It was the first off-road vehicle I had made in the USA. I had always owned Yamaha previously. For me the Ranger was not as well made as Japanese models, and, the fit and finish was not there. I am considering a Viking. My only concern, at this point, is the powerplant. In your opinion, is the Viking underpowered? My Ranger had an 800cc motor. In terms of power, it was not bad.
@TapArchery
@TapArchery 3 года назад
Underpowered? NO WAY .... We also use it for plowing snow and it pushes large amounts around with ease...even UPhill! This is a very well made vehicle in all respects..... STRONGLY RECOMMEND.
