Artie Rodriguez are fucking stupid? Where did I say a boosted mustang? There is a big difference between tuning a car and boosting a NA car... ofcourse a boosted mustang will win against an s4, but a tuned mustang vs a dual pulley s4 with proper cooling stands no chance.

I know this is an old video but yes B8/8.5 S4's NEED better cooling. I know because I have a B8.5 S4, without a bigger heat exchanger the car runs too hot. Without cooling upgrades the S4 has basically 1 chance to get it right.

Especially stage 2! Need intake , cat delete heat exchange maybe even radiator, otherwise your car will be running 50% power after the first run

3.0t Is notorious for cooling issues. APR has consecutive dynographed runs showing just how badly the car pulls timing, even after one run. Its a terrible design by audi, the supercharger intercoolers are integrated with the engine coolant system and arent even front mount, theres only an HX.

@@SassyOnline b8 S4’s are sub 18k in excellent condition. I’ve seen them sell for less than 10 with higher miles, the mustang is easily the more expensive car in this video. Also the S4 owner is a goober for doing power mods before cooling mods

Not trying to start shit but Audi heat soak bad even on stock!! With stage 2 without the intercooler is like driving maybe 30 extra horsepower on a 333 HP motor! Even when you raced the Audi that was SLOW as SHIT!! It's Not going to keep up with a 3.0 properly tuned!! You know why I know... Because I own Audi A6 tuned beautifully from Euro house. My friends own coyotes eat them up all day!!! Goes for Mopar and LS motors.

L BC every Audi runs hot. My Acura TL type s barely has to kick the fans on even in the summer but my friends Audi always has the fans on full blast and I swear the temp Gauge is slightly above the middle. My Acura sits around 180 but Idk about Audi’s though.

That S4 is not a Stage 2+ Should be running ECU Upgrade, TCU upgrade, Full Exhaust, Down Pipe, Stage 2 Dual Pullies, Intake, Inter-Cooler (CPS) This should give you 431AWTQ, and 449AWHP. I should know.... I have one, and have done this.. going to Ultra charger next year.

Yo I'm getting an S4 for my bday in December & as soon as I get it I'm doing work on it. What the cost for what you've listed on this comment you posted. & I do know you have to upgrade cooling systems and exhaust and than stage upgrade can you do stage 2 with out doing stage 1? Why dont you post videos??

@@asenciolosangeles6778 It might depend on the shop as far as labor but. The downpipe alone was 900.00 AWE touring exhaust full is about 1500-2k. I have KW-V2 Coilovers which are freaking awesome... that is about 3k installed. Intake and pullys are another 600 or so. APR Intercooler was about 1k. TCU and the APR Plus ECU Software Flash Tuning Audi 3.0T Simos 8.5 is close to 3k (1k for the TCU tune and about 1500-1800 for the other. Dear god..... LOL well take your time it adds up fast. Hell the Car is sick just lowered with some good looking wheels and tires. Myself I have Avant Garde 590 Brushed Black Nickle. Make sure if you order from them.. the wheels are perfect. My wheels started to peel the clear coat after 1 year. Murphy's law they said warranty was up. So now I will powder coat them another color. LOL Cheers man, congrats on getting your S4

@@asenciolosangeles6778 Honestly, all you really have to do is do the ECU tune and TCU if you want, that alone should give you 360Awhp and about 360ish Awtq.. Lowering is obviously aesthetics but does help, and you can go with different springs like with H&R. Will cost a lot less. The Exhaust, can come later, depends on again if you want to change the sound etc. You can also go Milltek but costs about the same. As for the Downpipe, helps with flow and I think gives the APR exhaust a better note. If you have an Auto...and do not want drone in the cabin of the car.... just get Touring. The Intake, Intercooler and Pulleys can come later... but again its all preference. Cheers!

lol you don't need an upgraded intercoolerS (which are internally placed within the supercharger, btw) to run stage 2. even with an upgraded intercoolerS, you'll need water&meth to keep running WOT over and over. don't comment on shit you know nothing about.

@@scalways you have a radiator upgrade. He is trying to explain to you the "intercooler" you're talking about is actually placed between the supercharger and the engine, there is no cost effective upgrade for that and it's almost pointless to upgrade the intercooler when you do the upgraded radiator because that gets rid of the constant heat soak issue.

Alfa Asher I understand, it's called an "intercooler" on the APR website. It's the cause of a lot of the confusion. My point is you do need to run a bigger radiator. Without it you can get heat soak on your first pull. It's just not smart to bump the power this much in a car with heat soak issues without addressing them.

@@scalways I agree with the idea you're conveying, but it's like saying (for example) to go catless, you must replace the Catback, it's two different parts. You would change the down pipes for catless down pipes. I agree these cars easily heat soak, I felt the difference when I was heat soaking in my S5 and I'm only Apr stage 1 and TCU tune, it was 60 degrees too but we did a lot of travelling and a lot of runs lol

He needs a heat exchanger, not an intercooler and is he does not have a DSG tube than a the dual pulley set up is very limited. Even stage one is limited without a DSG tune.

I own a mustang and a 2014 Audi s5 3.0T. Audi needs cooling. My car is stage 1 only and heat soaks. Will literally drop 2-3 mph in a quarter back to back runs. Audi has outran 4 different stock mustangs on stage 1… so this shouldn’t be a race in my experience…

Nahh bro your 5.0 Stang is alot slower then a tuned A6 which I own apr stage 2+ with quad-core heat exchanger... my buddys Stang with headers, full exhaust, CAI....And its tuned. It's not even a race really... It's the Audi best Quattro system. It's a rocket!! 3.4 sec to sixty is my best record on the streets!! Spinning ain't winning 😂🤣😂🤣!!

Dual pulley Stage 2 S4 should absolutely annihilate a stock GT. Lousy tune or something is seriously not right with the S4...

He has a B8 (the 8.5 refresh actually changed the exchanger design from single pass to dual pass) and did not upgrade the heat exchanger before going dual pulley. A B8 really needs an exchanger upgrade after stage 1, and a B8.5 can kinda get away with a single pulley (charger side, not crank) stage 2 tune before stock cooling is overwhelmed. Being an air-to-water cooled motor means once the cooling is overwhelmed, your charge air temps start rising. If that happens your get knock and the motor will retard timing. Going dual pulley without upgrades to the cooling system is both dumb (in a b8 like his single pass cooling, a single gear send will cause a spike in IAT and massive timing retard) and dangerous (knock = damage eventually). The owner was very dumb and took risks, ironically to make his car slower than if he had just slapped an ECU/TCU tune on and called it a day. Dual pulley B8 without cooling is slower than no pulley tuned car. Adding pulleys is to increase boost, and when air is pressurized it heats up.

He doesn't have a heat exchanger, doesn't have down pipes.... So his "overheating problem could he solved easily with the proper mods for a dual pulley S4, it says right in the software when going dual pulley requires hest exchanger, plus his down pipe cats are gonna end up clogging. Also he can still can an ultracharger for more power lmfao

3.0t heat soak is really bad, it sucks. Terrible design, the supercharger inter-coolers are integrated into the supercharger, not FMIC. They're also joined to the engine's coolant system, so it starts pulling timing pretty quickly. A few companies have heat exchanger upgrades, even though they advertise them as FMIC's. I think APR used to sell a kit that divorces the two, but they dont anymore

They’re technically joined, but the only point they’re joined is at the expansion tank. The reason no one sells a divorcing kit anymore is because it only created problems and didn’t provide an increase. Also air-to-water is a good design, and integrating the intercoolers into the super charger isn’t inherently bad. It helps keep efficiency high, packaging small and design simple. This motor was designed for 275-349 of output depending on the application. The original B8 single pass heat exchanger would occasionally be overwhelmed under extreme circumstances, but the B8.5 dual pass heat exchanger is sufficient for the motor’s design parameters. You call it a “terrible design” yet it’s the same principle as found on the Dodge Hellcat, and the Mustang GT500. What I think you meant was that it becomes overwhelmed when you increase the power 50% more than stock... then yes it becomes inadequate as do several items on most cars pushing that much power past the stock form. Also side note, you wouldn’t have a FMIC, that would be an Air-to-Air system. This car has a front mounted heat exchanger that sends coolant right to a pump and into the supercharger, meaning the coldest coolant in the loop is directly routed into the air stream (and this is important) AFTER the hot supercharger lobes have compressed it, and right before that air hits the combustion chamber. Air exiting the charger is cooler than entering air, superior (given sufficient cooling) to air-to-air designs with would’ve had the air cooled out front and then sent back through hot charge pipes, a hot throttle body, a hot supercharger and into hot intake runners. Also air-to-air drop boost the larger the intercooler, hence why typically only used on high boost applications since you can just keep jacking boost pressure (bov or recirculation valve tuning) to offset the pressure lost in a large intercooler. Superchargers don’t have that luxury as they’re a static ratio for boost. Messing with pulleys and porting/polishing things are the only way you can change the boost produced. I think it’s a pretty cool design all said and done, and a simple quality heat exchanger swap gets you back in the game through 550hp or more. Let’s pause and acknowledge that a sub-$500 part (Merc racing quad pass exchanger is exceptional quality, and the best system outside AMS’s $2000 system which is overkill unless you’re going north of 550hp or so) is all you need to safely push the “terrible design” to over 65% increased power. Seems like a decent system. Everybody is too caught up in video game/RU-vid fantasy racing where they think things are good or bad, black or white. The world is draped in shades my friend. Just my two cents ofc!

I’ve beat 2, 5.0 mustangs in a pretty much stock s4. Top end stock and stock I’m sure mustang could pull but in my experience, I’ve pulled about half cars length maybe more on some little runs up to about 110 mph

I really dont care what's faster. I love mustang because of their history, heritage, culture and strong 50 years and most of all its a head turner and Audi is not unless its an R8.

Lol a head turner? Fuck no. Mustangs are everywhere and driven by tool bags.. There is no comparison with any Audi. Even the Audi’s that are slower are ten times nicer inside and out.

@@masonsmith4023 ford that we know today is from 1903. Audi doesn't make a product that can beat gt500 or ford gt. Stock. I dont see any audi on the road from 70's 80's or even 90's. I see a lot of classic fords including mustangs like shelbys' mach 1 svo etc and they hold their value actually in most cases above their valve. P.S. when I said 50 years I meant mustangs. Ford itself is from 1903.

Justin Wright if you paid attention the s4 won mutiple times even with it overheating. They prob didn't bleed the coolant system right the 3.0 motor loves to heat soak especially on the stock heat exchanger

Artie Rodriguez actually fbo for fbo dual pulley s4 will Merc coyotes all day. I pull mustangs all day in my pulley only car. Dual pulley cars are in the high tens to low 11's no mustang is doin that right now
