Awesome solstice. Was mix of American convertible sports car / roadster. They made lot of formal drift cars from them. Also Saturn sky. Must own by older guys or ladies. If I'm right v6 or 4cly was optional
Quite upset neither Tony neither Sam did know anything about Solstice. If I am not mistaken, it was around 2006 when GM made this car (with slightly different design of the front and rear bumper + lights) as multi-brand model. Pontiac Solstice and Opel / Vauxhall GT. 2,0 litre turbo engine making around 260PS, manual gearbox, RWD and manually operated roof. I liked the Opel GT version of this car, wide, low sports roadster...
@@jamespugh Thanks! When I bought my car I was 24 years old, but there are a lot of owners older than me that bought them for sure. Mine is the GXP with the optional turbocharged 2.0L 4 cylinder. The base engine came with just over 170 hp with a 2.4 I4 NA, but the option was the turbocharged 2.0L that came with 260 hp and 260 trq. GM offered a factory full warranty tune upgrade called the GM Stage 1 kit that was 2 sensor changes and a ECU flash that upped power from 260 hp to 290 hp (30hp jump) and upped the torque from 260 trq to 340 trq (80 trq jump). I got that on my car and it completely transforms the car. Mine is a manual as well :)
@@sagarisfiorano Yeah that Is pretty spot on with everything you said. I wondered what they thought of the Opel GT because its a car you can get in Europe but they never made a Left Hand Driver version. They made a concept version of the Vauxhall but it never made it to production. So I can see why they may not have heard of the cars before.
@@readventurekids It is, Combe is my local and favourite track! As for the car, it was standard & red when I bought it so it's come a long way. It's my daily, show car, track car ect. Gets used for everything. Mostly stripped out inside too.
I bet if you're a regular track driver you'd give Tony a run for his money on track in one of his expensive motors that do all the driving for him hahahaha. Tony can sell a car but he certainly can't drive one from what I've seen!
I’m surprised Tony even returns to Sam’s podcast....last week he was busting him out about the Chris Harris drama, now this week he’s calling him out to the audience for picking his damn nose when no one can see him
Thank you for still posting Sam ! Don't forget to keep your neck muscles moving, A lot of people tend to keep their head still after a concussion which tenses up the neck muscles and causes more headache. Keep moving. I loved the podcast !
Hey Sam and Tony. It was great to hear your thoughts, not only for the Integrale but all of the other cars as well. To answer Tony's question, it actually doesn't work. I'm rebuilding the engine back to stock after running it tuned for so many years. Also if Tony was looking at a 20-25k car back in the day, it most certainly would have been a evoluzione, bought mine for 3900 euros back in November 2003, it was my first car after turning 18. Found it in the south of Germany and drove it home to Stockholm together with my dad. Since then I've driven it in Norway, to the Porsche museum in Stuttgart and quite a lot here in Sweden. It has seen dirt roads, autobahn, backroads, race tracks, air strips and a few parking lots and grass lawns. Thanks for featuring it and for the great content from all of your channels. Stay safe!
The Solstice was an opel speedster rebranded for the US market... In fact the engine was an ecotec 2L (available in both NA and turbo version), also from Opel
Hi Sam, please check DRIVETRIBE, just uploaded by James May, talking about what videos he is currently watching and he is currently watching STG... Just wanted you to know what he mentions about your chanel. Enjoyed the podcast.
The Pontiac Solstice is the same car as in Europe is the Opel GT. The last Esprits was V8 turbo. Nice video as usual. Hope to see more of this type of videos. Keep up the great work.
I'm a huge fan of behind the glass, Jonty from SCD has got the right idea with his Lotus Exige. Incredible cars for the money, a very pure driving experience and now an appreciating classic. I'm not sure if you were both joking about not knowing what model it was, I'm hoping so 😂
Great video! On the point of racing liveries, at least the Porsche liveries are well-known in the car community. Some liveries are really famous but the Jaguar one isn't really at all so that makes a huge difference.
Had an F355GTS Manual. Roof creaks and leaks to such an extent it will drive you insane! Much like the running costs, allow £5-7k pa on routine maintenance and servicing. Look good, sounds good otherwise best avoided unless you are totally smitten with very deep pockets or have excellent mechanical skills.
New Coronavirus drinking game. Person 1 takes a drink when Tony pronounces something odd like Astin instead of Aston. Person 2 drinks when Sam tries to pretend he isnt posh like saying "twenny twenny" or using slang.
Sam, I don't own a Focus RS, however I am too in love with that shape and the ST too however, the 'backfiring' and 'anti lag' is normally as a result of people modifying the engine/exhaust etc, to get the power numbers those cars are capable of 👍🏻
Hi Sam and Tony awesome video lots of very different submissions however I would like to disagree with the Senna. My father is a current owner of a red carbon bodied Senna and a Ferrari Enzo. Along with a whole private collection up in Cumbria. Like Tony we have a Genera Ordered along with the not yet delivered Regera.
Government: Don't go outside and drive in case you have an accident Sam: Anyone seen my impression of Uncle Albert from Only Fools? Hope you recover soon Sam, if I've learned anything from films after this your superpowers will start to develop. Use them for good!
Not sure this is my favourite concept. But anything with Tony in it. I'm gonna watch it. So entertaining. Also the focus RS. They did them in white blue and green. The orange was the ST which was made in the Mk2 pre facelift. The rs is a facelift. :)
I’ve been driven in a gated manual F355 and they are very analogue, as most cars of that era were but it still sounds fantastic and despite being painfully slow compared to the modern day stuff, is still a fantastic car. The back end even stepped out on a greasy bit of road which was a bit hair raising.
These types of podcasts are awesome! Maybe you guys could do episodes dedicated to different decades of cars e.g 1970-1990s etc? Or even favourite could do some on specific brands ;)
I like this idea. Had fun watching. That black Civic Typr R is the first current Type R i've seen, that didn't make me want to throw up. I honestly didn't think you could spec that car so it wouldn't make my stomach turn. Still wouldn't own one of course, but colour me positively surprised by that one.
It's funny you say the 355 is more Tony's generation than yours but growing up it was always my dream car and i'm 25 atm. Every regular Ferrari after that never did it for me for some reason.
Senna is a track car that you can also drive on the road. Ollie Webb said this week its the best road car he has ever driven on track but the best McLaren on road is the 675LT.
Brilliant loved that guys ,a bit harse on some cars lol .but i totally agree with the senna hate ,,my god what was maclaren thinking when it was desiging this to honor..a legend like senna?
Sierra RS500 were not all black, they also came in moonstone blue and white. Later Esprit was V8 not V6 Those Turbo Esprits from the 80's were a bit more reliable than the 70's models. Harry Metcalfe took his to Switzerland a few months ago !!!
