The lobotomy scene is the 1st time in the entirety of watching The Boys that I've actually had to turn away from the screen 😱☠️🤣

The moment I saw the eye scene my first thought was “Jay is going to faint when he sees this”

You joked about it early on, but Butcher is 100% this universes version of Venom, only the symbiote isn't an alien but a Compound V enhanced tumor trying to keep its host alive. There were only 3 episodes of the Diabolical animated series confirmed to be canon, and one was about a man that gave Compound V to his wife to cure her cancer and the tumor got powers and became a separate entity.

I had to turn away during the lobotomy scene, too. The entire concept of the procedure - Going through the eye, the scraping of the brain, the casual nature of the entire ordeal... it's real horror lol.

Well my female gaze is extremely at attention when I see Butcher. He's a man of a certain age, been through stuff, grumpy, loner, emits "Needs therapy but doesn't think he needs therapy" vibes, sexy accent. 🥵 He's my kryptonite.

Remember, this show has 1.5 seasons left and they always find ways to one up themselves. I can’t imagine how they plan to top that lobotomy scene

In The Boys: Diabolical episode 7 John and Sun-hee(an episode confirmed to be canon). John steals a bottle of V from Vought to give to his wife dying of pancreatic cancer. The V combined with the tumor to make it sentient protecting Sun-hee until it absorbed about a dozen soldiers (their bodies were vaporized similar to the utter destruction of Ezekiels body) so it was strong enough to leave her body and became an unstoppable cancer kaiju. So I think that Becca is the sentient cancer appearing to him and the "worms" in his body are parts of his body that have metastasized that are joining with the mass in his head. Just a theory.

The lobotomy scene was shocking. What freaked me out was thinking about how that WAS DONE FOR REAL TO REAL PEOPLE!! OMG. "Scrape my brains. Scrape 'em"

Yeah, Butcher is basically Eddie Brock at this point; he just doesn’t know it. Huey put the Compound V in his jacket pocket, then took off his jacket right before stepping out of the room, so that was his mom’s chance to grab it. I managed to power through the lobotomy scene, but I cannot hold it against anyone who couldn’t. That’s absolutely some horror movie shit.

I had the exact same reaction as you guys with the eye scene😂. Eye stuff is trigger for me and this is the first time in all of the seasons that I've had to cover my face. Just the fact that I was listening to it grossed me out.😅

This episode truly had quite the collection of moments that made it veeeery difficult to continue watching the episode without feeling terribly sick and uncomfortable, which was the intention so yay? You guys managed to made *that* scene funny with your horrified reactions and I loved it, specially the background/theater joke hahaha I´m excited and afraid for whatever the rest of the season might have in store for us

The level of writing and acting it takes to make us empathize with a complete sociopath is worth _all_ the awards. I somehow like "yeah! You put that janitor in the oven, John! You're doing great sweetie...wait what am I _saying"_

I would rate it 2/2 sweet angel babies avoiding the lobotomy scene as hard as they possibly could 💜

Three things: (1) I have a phobia of things happening to eyes, so I'm right there with you on the lobotomy scene. (2) Karl Urban is super attractive to lots of women (myself included), but the female gaze is more about women being turned off by things most men find cool and turned on by things most men consider effeminate. For example, men love Gerard Butler in 300, women love him in The Phantom of the Opera and P.S. I Love You. (Broad generalization, I know, but that just defines the concept.) (3) You two rule, and I love getting to see your videos.

Don’t feel bad Adam, I had to look away and take out my headphones at the lobotomy. Even the sounds were a lot, and I’ve watched tons of horror films, it just got me on a weird level.

If Antony doesn’t get his Emmy for this season, I think we can officially say that “superhero roles” will never be rewarded. Also the “did you know we’ve been in a theater this whole time” was great 😂

I was thinking Butchers cancer was keeping the V parasite at bay. When he was about to die the parasite found a new hoste but immediately killed him. Then it returned to Butcher.

I remember watching their Ratchet trailer reaction a while back so the first thing I thought of when I saw the lobotomy scene was I hope Adam’s okay lol

I held a notebook up to the screen and turned away during that scene.

Of all the people homelander killed those are the only group of people i feel absolutely no empathy, for...they happily torture homelander for years, and basically created a fucking monster (don't get me wrong Homelander is still responsible for all of his bad actions, but the people working at this lab definitely had a big part on why he's that way) The guy said "I was just doing my job" but his job was still torturing & mistreating a kid, and like homelander said nobody stopped and said that what they were doing was wrong. All of them were OK with what they were doing until he came back for revenge. And now that I'm thinking about it I'm surprised that none of them were expecting this... like the second Homelander left the lab all of them should've ran and hide because if I was them, I would fully expect him to come back and kill me for what I did.

Butcher told Hughie in the first season that when he met him, he always had an expression as though he were sitting in a chair about to tip over. The look on his face after his fight in this episode...it was a total change. He seemed almost numb, and I think that plays into why he's forgiving A-Train. He no longer lives in a world where people get to be innocent. Hopefully his newfound family can reach him if things go wrong with his father.

Why do I have the feeling The Deep is going to botch that lobotomy in future episodes?

Now I really want to know who Homelander’s genetic mom is. Apparently someone who they didn’t want to carry the pregnancy, begging the question of why. Was it someone who had powers that would fit well with Soldier Boy’s invulnerability and strength? Did she even have the same powers as Homelander or were his laser beam and flight totally a random coincidence? Was she someone important that Vought didn’t want to put at risk (and that’s big coming from Vought). Is she still alive?

Four seasons in, and they still act surprised whenever something from real life appears in The Boys.

Not sure if y’all watched Diabolical but i think Butcher’s V latched onto his cancer like that one episode of Diabolical. They specifically said 3 of the Diabolical episodes were canon and it would now make sense why that out of all of them was chosen to be canon!

It's wild that Homelander destroyed the last of his humanity by doing what is quite possibly the only morally justifiable thing he's ever done in his life (sadism aside).

You know, I never thought I'd feel sympathy for homelander, but I see why he became the monster he is, and it wasn't his fault

Hot Take: The people who made "The Boys" know at this point that deaths and screams on their own isn't enough to terrify us. It's in making the perfect mixture of video edting, music, and audio to make it bonechilling. The scene with Homelander burning Frank alive is not meant to make us hate or fear Homelander at all, and we're supposed to be entirely on his side because everything he is doing to the people in that lab is absolutely deserved. In the same vein of conversation, we ARE supposed to find the part where Homelander is talking about his years of torture disturbing, as it is. Homelander is (and has been for a whole season now) one of the main characters, and we're supposed to feel the same way about Homelander slaughtering the people in the lab as we did about Butcher killing Gunpowder or Starlight beating on Firecracker: "I know (person) deserves it, but it's not gonna help you!".

My theory is it’s a venom situation basically butcher had a tumor the V turned that into a symbiot well the boys version of venom which can be even more twisted lol
