I have to agree with others regarding the need to clear the grass away from the tent site and especially the fire pit outside. It would be a catastrophe if the grass caught fire and spread. It happens so easily and so fast. Good luck with this addition to the Mapperton adventures. Im sure you will have lots of bookings. xx

Hey let me please give y'all a little advice. I would seriously consider mowing that dry grass a couple of yards more away from the fire pit. I've done a lot of camping in many different regions of the US and the UK and a fire can really ruin the trip and damage your land. This is a beautiful setup and I'm definitely going to stay a night the next time I'm in England.

I, too, agree that the grass needs to be reduced substantially. Another problem is the small ridge you have behind your tent. That needs to be removed, or you will be unhappy when it rains hard and the tent floor is soaked or worse, your bed starts to float toward the sea...LOL

I laugh so much with you two. My mom married my dad and became a US citizen from Greece. My dads size is of Norwegian heritage and kept a lot of the European ways. Things like marauder, picture railing (not the same as crown molding!), eating with the fork and knife, Christmas traditions, and more were part of my youth (I mean, we didn’t have to fight off marauders or anything like that). I love this.

So many people have commented about the possibility of fire. Would you consider making a fire safety video about the grounds? I think you have done one in the house (or at least I seem to remember a hose and an extinguisher?) , but maybe a fire chief could give you some tips for the grounds. I cannot help but think of the house in Rebecca. And then for everyone who is nervous about it (me 😳) maybe we could see the grass update (once it is trimmed back). I feel like it might be satisfying (kind of like the pool updates.

We Yanks definitely make breakfast like Luke but with a twist: Italian-Americans make a large-ish hole in the middle of the bread, break the egg into that hole. Try it with a mixture of olive oil and butter, it's delicious! In the movie "Moonstruck" you can see egg-in-a-hole made to perfection! (Miss Julie, I like my eggs done over well, too. Maybe because we're both vegetarians?) Y'all just crack me up! I still think Luke's hair needs its own channel. Cheers from North Carolina

That really was the nicest episode they have produced. Julie and Luke are such a charming couple, and they almost persuaded me that glamping would be something I'd enjoy. I know it wouldn't be for me, but I could imagine sitting there, reading, and sipping my G&T as the sun went down... Silence is one thing that I miss from lockdowns. Between lockdowns I took my dog for a long walk at Kenilworth (about 20 mins from home), starting at the castle and going out into surrounding countryside. There was total silence, the airport was closed, and even the cows were making no noise. I have rarely experienced it before because, here in England, it's a crowded place and I have to travel a long way to get to the quiet places.

You both never fail to make me smile & have a laugh! Love the glamping and the views of the typical hedgerow farmland, as well as the rewilding countryside views. Something uniquely British to go to. It’s so unusual to see dry grass in England instead of lush green hills after the exceptionally hot summer! It’s a pity planning doesn’t allow it to be open longer. I’d love to sit there watching the late sunset with some of your elderflower bubbly!

@gnarbeljo8980

Sadly those are useless if there's a brush fire. I'm in Scandinavia where it's illegal to light a fire after mid May in an undesignated area unless it's literally on rocks/cliffs. This was extremely risky and I'm frankly a bit shocked. If there's a brush or woodland fire rewilding will be set back tremedously and the damage can be unbelievable. It takes literally seconds for fire to spread far beyond control in these circumstances. I see mant have commented and would urge they consult their local firedepartment to learn how to safely set the scene for glamping guests using an open grill in the fields. That little square of concrete under the grill is useless in regards to a single airborn spark...

I think it's perfect, what a lovely place to chill for a weekend, I think for next summer maybe an artificial stream for cooling off would be nice, a simple recirculating pump system made to look like a forest stream. Wouldn't have to be deep. Would draw family's with children maybe in hot August.

This was my favourite episode yet! What a stunning location. Beautiful and quiet. People will flock to your website to book a stay. Outside of that though I laughed so many times! I echo the grass scenario. If you are going to do this every year it would be good to have a gravel area for the outdoor fire pit - we use truck rims dug into the ground with a 3ft gravel ring on the outside to contain the fire and always have a bucket of water close by for putting out marshmallow sticks etc. Need stone slab or a tile on top of the wood bin inside the tent for a food prep table and cutting board. I love camping. Is there room service for the dishes or do you wash dishes in the sink near the showers? (when the pits aren't in use we put a board over the top with a cinder block on to keep critters out) Love This So Much!! I've never camped in England but I have stayed in a cottage at a Caravan Site. ❤

What a great option to offer your guests! We love “glamping”, however we do it in an RV!😊 We tent camped for years, though! Blessings 🙏

Fresh eggs whites stay tight and close. Old eggs run out like that. Have a chat with your chickens!♥️

Julie, texas poast or pan toast. I'm a California girl but grew up wit it! We do grilled cheese sandwichs, similar...with no cheese. Ir you heard if toad in a hole? Fried bread with a cut out you put the egg in. Watch all the bread crumbs or you will be sleeping with 🐜

Ok you have to work on those BBQ skills! Here in Australia we would say "Mate turn down the flame" medium heat and cook slower lol

Hello , I love the glamping episode. You both bring a smile to my face with your obviously great rapport . I hope one day to visit , but due to the economy being so bad here it’s hard to travel . We’re going through a really hard time with our furniture interior design business , may go bankrupt but we’re still planning on moving to nsw to the southern highlands for a new start . Your vlogs keep us going so thank you so much . Matthew

Chicago is further south than where you are so daylight is longer in the summer. I remember dark coming about 9-9:30 north of Chicago where I grew up, and around 10ish when I lived in Antwerp for 3 years. You guys are just too cute! Keep away from the marauders!!
