27:32 Sandi saying "I don't want to do it", yet she wagged her tail right afterwards... She knew that you needed to put her out of her misery and she understood it and knew that's what she needed. She gave you a sign and was grateful for what you did and was saying goodbye. To me, she was showing her complete love and understanding, and thanking you for doing all that you did for her. 💜💜💜💜

And by dying on the farm, she gives her all back to the farm by becoming compost that is returned to the land to grow feed for her brothers and sisters and even her children if they're kept in the next round of replacement ewes. Her legacy will live on!

Sandi, not only are you a conscientious sheep farmer, but you love your sheep. I've always known that, but watching you apply cold cabbage leaves to her infection showed all of us that you will try anything to keep your sheep healthy and happy. You did everything humanly possible to save her. Besides being an educator you give master classes on sheep farming. You are amazing.
@DarkDraega
@DarkDraega 2 месяца назад
@keeleyg2636 Except that she DIDN'T do everything possible to save her. She didn't do the most important thing that she SHOULD have done which was take the Ewe to be seen by a farm vet BEFORE she got to this point, or have them come to the farm to see her. It's possible the Ewe could've been saved had she done so but most farms would rather put an animal down than pay for very expensive veterinary treatments that would cut into profits and exceed the value of what an ewe is worth to them. Such is the nature for animals on commercial farms.
@keeleyg2636
@keeleyg2636 2 месяца назад
@@DarkDraega It's obvious that you've not watched Sandi very long. She has dealt with mastitis with her flock since she began sheep farming. And we don't know if she contacted her vet or not. That farming model you described DOES NOT apply to Sandi Brock.
@ElysetheEevee
@ElysetheEevee 2 месяца назад
@areyoumadbroxd6861 She contacts her vet pretty much any time something severe happens, or even if she has any doubt about something, whether she's already dealt with it or not. You clearly haven't been here long. I've been subbed to Sandi for about five years now. She is absolutely one of the types that is in constant contact with her vet. She doesn't really show him on camera or anything. Stop making sweeping assumptions just because others do what you're saying.

Yes, I think on an instinctive level they understand it's time to go. They also understand you're there to help them and you could readily see she was comforted by you. We had our pup (well, he was 15 yrs old but still a mere pup to us!) put down peacefully at home. The morning of, we had him up on the couch (he loved that spot). Of course his diffr bed spots were there on the floor too, along with a special one we'd set up the night before for the occasion. About an hr before the vet arrived, he got down off the couch by himself and for the first time, laid right down on the special place we'd made. His brother laid beside him (also never having laid on that spot until then), and they didn't move (which was not like then bc they both were VERY active dogs--even him up to the end!) It's like he knew and was so ready to go. The vet arrived and he moved only enough to put his head on my leg, but he left the rest of his body laid out (which is a way he NEVER slept). He very peacefully went to sleep and passed without a sound. We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful ending.

I hate it, but you know that the last act of kindness is the only peace that they will ever have. It hurts because you've tried your very best to comfort, heal and nurture. @SandiBrock you are a true shepherd from God. Going so far out of your way for one ewe speaks volumes to your commitment to giving these sheep their very best lives. So very sad, but so very heartfelt and precious. 😍

Thank you, Sandi for sharing the hard times, as well as the good times. This little segment was more in-depth with a day by day timeline of the failing health of your sweet ewe. It gave me a better understanding of how hard this is emotionally on a shepherdess. I am touched by the love and kindness you have for your animals. God bless you! ❤️🌹

As a Shepard Sandi you did the proper thing for your ewe. It was so very sweet as you said your goodbyes and thanked her for being a wonderful ewe and momma, she showed you love by shaking her tail. You are sensitive and your love for your flock shows.💖🐑💕 Unfortunately for everyone who raise animals or have pets at some point we must face the reality of illness and the loss of an animals will to live. I am happy to know that you care enough to for the sheep's quality of health and comfort. Every time it is a hard decision and it feels terrible and breaks our hearts💔, but at least we are able to have had the love and experience of them 🐑 with footprints 👣 in our heart. Sandi you keep doing you and don't stop because of the nay sayers. Keep shining bright like a diamond. 💎. ✌💗🕯

Sandi, her little tail wags when you took her head in your hands at the end, was like her way of saying she's thankful for all you did to help, but it's time... 😢🥺🥹 What a sweet girl. It was definitely worth a try.
