Definitely more confident than last week. The next 4 games, all at home ,3 competitions. If we win all 4, then I'll really believe. Hopefully our creativity flows vs Leicester.
yes I think we can do it, but Rodri injury is a big factor. We were behind until he went off at weekend & him out will be a big loss to them. Also, definitely need Ode back as our attack looks a bit limp without him (our defenders scoring our recent goals).
There's an article from the daily mail just recently, stating some epl clubs had complained to the pgmol last year about Arsenals dark arts, just think of the implications of how the pgmol would think of that? If enough clubs complained, wouldn't they start doing something about it?
Did everyone forget that they admitted to targeting granit Xhaka because they said he had a “temper”. The PGMOL discuss certain players and teams to keeep a “close” eye on
Why is it that football pundits/commentators are all pussyfooting around this issue of referee corruption when one referee has red carded Arsenal players on 7 different occasions and yet he is appointed to officiate Arsenal games again and again?
Fantastic podcast! I felt completely deflated after we conceded that late goal on Sunday, but I am so proud of the team. The way we defended in the second half was impressive. The analysis from the media afterwards was mostly embarrassing and I was actually surprised about that but it’s fine. Take it as a compliment and use it as fuel to show them how good we are. I completely believe in this team and this manager.
As I was expecting City to score several against just ten of our players,I was nit disappointed at the time. Since seeing it, we fell asleep at the corner kick, which ultimately cost us.
The run-in of the last season was the trick. It forced us to mature as a team and get over adversity. The first 5 fixtures of this season is just the same. We're here now and they have to deal with it. Even Arteta has matured to trust his players and he is receiving the dividends. Only more good to come from this team. That run-in was a blessing in disguise.
I don't buy the reasoning that it's Arteta's fault for confronting the officiating. We've seen Wenger get sent to the stands for kicking a water bottle. Meanwhile Pep is free to kick a chair because it's Pep.
Can't get away from the fact that Michael Oliver has issued 7 red cards to Arsenal players and 0 to Man City players. That is a statistical improbability. We saw him deliberately not red card Kovacic last season for two dreadful fouls. There is ample evidence that Refs referee Arsenal and Arteta differently to every other club and manager. Incidentally we are treated better by refs in European games.
Sheroy touched on this situation a bit but the whining in post match pressers and the disrespect that Haaland showed to our manager and our players DOES have knock-on effects. It seemed like pure projection from Haaland to say 'Stay humble' when it was precisly what he needed to do after an unimpressive result... these things have stirred our supporter base. Like when Xhaka got in Trent's face at Anfield, Haaland and co might've just taken a swing at a beehive
The dynamic duo, it’s a pleasure listening to both of your analysis on the game. Keep up the great work. Echo James in the belief that we will win the league, this team possesses the mentality and they all seem locked in from the manager to the players. Let’s go and finally bring #14 home!!
Everyone seems to forget that when the referee booked trossard for his first yellow Neville commented that he was only booked so the referee can take control of the game again, we are treated differently
@@johnporcella2375 the likelihood and suspicion of corruption is there, unless I’m in the minds of the refs who have been paid or hold agendas I don’t know, unless I see the paper trail. We know refs are paid by city, we know Man City have had favourable decision and their rivals have had negative decision that make 0 sense. It’s enough to investigate.
hear me out this is an outrageous take: Its all about the media. More outrageous calls brings more eyes to the premier league matches. More clips circulating social media means more money to these news outlets. if a referee can talk about not ruining the game, you can only imagine what they do to make games more hectic and “entertaining” If you believe there is corruption behind the scenes, then you have to consider all possibilities.
I truly enjoyed this matured podcast by these two well-spoken, humbled, eloquent, articulate, controlled, and intelligent men (James and Sheroy). Emotional yet still very balanced.
Remember last season at the Etihad, Trossard had a chance to play Martinelli in for a counter? I genuinely believe Trossard was desperate to do that, hence not hearing the whistle which doesn’t mean he shouldn’t be booked. But then why was Sobozlai not hooked the week before, for the same offence, by the same referee?! PS - Sheroy, you know about Oceana in Kingston yer? 😂😂😂
I think because we are so hated, and because now teams fear we might win something, no one will set aside their tribal feelings to back us against the referees
James, My answer to the officiating issue is - GIVE THEM A RAISE. We also set up a Premier League officiating body that hires PROFESSIONAL REFEREES. Not part-time officials who go around the world looking for work or have other jobs as gym teachers or firemen or whatever. They are paid enough to be full-time Premier League referees. That means they ref the games and spend the rest of the week involved in ongoing activities and analysis designed to make them better Premier League refs (exceptions could be made to allow them to work Champions League games and/or European Cup games - no Nations League etc crap). An unbiased system will be instituted to evaluate each referee's performance in each game and the results will be made public. A table ranking all the refs will be published and at the end of the season the bottom 15% will be "relegated".
Clarence here big fan of you both .. most of what you said made sense which isn’t as fun sometimes but we need it as fans .. if you ever do any AFTV skits can we get Shiroy to play Mikel Arteta lol love the show gents
The amount of games that the top teams have to play is mad. Domestic League, Extended UCL format/European, 2x Domestic Cups, Club world cup, International friendlies/Nations league, Continent/World cup. It's mad to think a player could potentially be playing over 90 minutes at high intensity for 4 times in the space of 10 days, with travel time and training days. Personally I'd scrap Nations League, 1 domestic cup and the Club world cup.
When you deep there’s been 100 players in 50 games and only 5 players have received yellows cards ! Saliba, rice, trossard, rice,Bruno Fernandez How can it be anything other than an agenda
Arsenal under wenger later days was being accused of soft under belly, no other way of playing, no cojones etc etc...now suddenly possesion has become extreme important, playing the right way that too with 10 men has become crucial, set peice goals are frowned upon...dont want to say this but it is us against them all combined...19 teams, refrees, pundits, media, some egomaniac arsenal fans as well..who wants arsenal to fail so that they are proven ultimate visionary
The next step for us as an Arsenal fan base is to start to ignore nonsensical and stupid comments about how we play and what we do. Just ignore them. Not important. Should not bother us at all
I do enjoy your analysis James B and listen to your content quite across all channels your turn up for. Please relax the vulgar language. The point can still be emphasized without swearing.
The SECOND HALF defensive Arsenal FC PERFORMANCE against City thieves is the best I have ever seen watching football. Forget the narratives, ARSENAL ARE THE BEST TEAM IN ENGLAND. Halland is a disgrace and absolute shambles of a human being. Absolute shame of a human Halland.
As a neutral, Right now I'm 60/40 Arsenal for winning the league. Just because of how light and in some areas aged City's squad is looking. The next few games for City is big. Depends on how they recover after such a psychologically draining 72hrs and losing their best player. Can't forget about Liverpool too.
We didn't have Partey for the better part of the season in 2023/24 as well. Let City deal with that absence as well. Let's not forget Saliba's injury the season before then. We were called bottlers instead of getting sympathy
Great content as always lads. Guys forget the referring…. The real dark arts start off the pitch. City are rattled but it’s important to remember how to set the tones of the game. Bernardo’s comments and highlight Arsenals gamesmanship will no doubt set a tone for how Arsenal will be refereed moving forward in the big games and more so in the return fixture at the Emerites. What they are doing is controlling the narrative… We have to control it right back and state it’s part of the game just as our 2 red cards have been. Arsenal have had Diaby, Ramsey and Eduardo break bone and suffer near career ending injuries because of some of the Tony Pulis tactics, and that was considered the dark arts that Arsenal had to toughen up and learn. Manuel Almunia and Fabianski will tell you every team we played crowded and blocked them off when they were in goal for us. The Argument is that we have a team that plays two way football, and if you want to compete you have to do the same it’s the bar when you play Arsenal now. We have to push back on the dark arts narrative because it will cause a bias in the referees mind, we are team capable of playing 2 way football defensive and attacking, it’s up to the other teams to catch up. Note we are also not breaking any Legs and ending any careers if we’re really taking about cheating… Just saying
After hearing how Premier league teams complained about our 'dark arts' (in which every team does at some stage) to the pgmol I wonder if it has put the already poor refs with an after thought of, teams have complained and they have to look into every action we do as a team on the pitch as a more scrutinised decision... either way we aint push overs anymore and other clubs hate it
Two years ago Arsenal could go away to Etihad and Anfield and we would celebrate if we got a draw. I firmly believe now we go to these places and we have all the ingredients to get all 3 points. After this 2-2 at Etihad I also think the tide has started to turn against City. The most important aspect though is Arsenal remaining consistent against the not so caller big teams. Also does anyone think Arteta and Edu are plotting a surprise coup for a striker in January? I believe they have done all the ground work in summer to make it happen. COYG.
Statistically it's impossible for it to be just bad luck for Arsenal especially when you consider the team we are playing is doing the same thing. I understand you guys have to be pc but at this point every arsenal fan has been seeing this since Wenger
Guys. The refs in the prem are told by the prem that, for teams that will prob be in relegation or top make it controversial. Hence why multiple teams get crazy decisions. Its corruption at its finest. Ppl talk about it and the relegation battles n top 4/ title race also is close and contreversial
I hope it's the last time we play with 10 men, we knew that ref like that , so don't give a shit anymore..we should have learn...it's will ruin our chance to win title...
IMO assuming the refs are doing their best to be fair, the only explanation is IMPLICIT BIAS. When you believe City are better than everyone else, you are more likely to apply logic to City and Letter of the law to opponents when making interpretations of punitive rules.
Let's just get this over done with I'm actually tired of hearing about the ref decisions refs are poor, done! Let's get on and win our games and take PL. However I'm going to say a ref that works with owners of another club in PL just shouldn't ref any PL game. Conflict of interest and also ref can have an unconscious bias I'm not saying it's on purpose. Regardless COYG!!! We got this keep strong and "BELIEVE" 😂💪
These soft yellow cards given for delaying the restart will peter out as the season goes on as does every new directive from refs at the start of every season. Look at the time wasting yellows such as given to tomiyasu, no longer given, just as the case of adding 10+ minutes of stoppage time at the end of each half as was the case for 6-8 weeks last season. These stupid yellows will cease to be a thing come November and we will be the only team punished as per usual. In spite of that we are winning the league this year. COYG!
Defensively not the best team in the country, offensively not the best team in the country....goal difference of 5 behind City, Liverpool and Chelsea..... 4th in the league but somehow "we're the best team on the league ".... prime gooner logic😂😂😂
If you that big do it like Real Madrid when you loose take it like G’s yet people respect you . Man city team players just showed how childish they are on tv .
