We React To NF: When I Grow Up. 

My wife went to Church with NF when they were younger [and if I remember correctly he still did some things around here in Michigan for a bit] that's how I got introduced to his music and honestly he's fantastic and everything is real and hits. 10/10 he's very talented

He draws a smile on his face.....he deals with major depression, even had a partial breakdown. But he has a lot of dark from his childhood: Mansion explains a lot.

One thing I find very interesting about the opening scene is when all the other kids are saying when they grow up “I want to be” whatever it is. When they pan over to little Nate, he says, “I’m going to be a rapper!” He already knew he’d make it!

The reaction was cool but in the ending part of the NF video, the thing that he was wiping it off was a fake smile that every artist has to keep although they are broken from the inside they have to smile for everyone out. He really is a class guy with lots of meaning in his songs

Absolutely love NF. One of the best artists out. Not sure if you can tell from one song but he doesn’t curse in ANY of his songs. It makes it more interesting & even artists that feature on his songs, like Tech N9ne & Hopsin, don’t curse either which just shows their respect for him

I don't really listen to much rap, but I checked out NF (thinking, what the hell is NF? lol) and was absolutely blown away. I listened to some of his other stuff and became an instant fan. This artist is so talented in overseeing all the aspects of production. I hope you guys check out some of his other tracks, you won't be disappointed.

As I'm sure a lot of others have already touched on, if you're interested in "taking the journey", I feel it's best to approach the songs in order. I don't personally think its necessary to hit literally every single song in his discography, and you can probably get some ideas on which songs are important from the comments. He have a lot of songs about mental struggles and the way he explain and explore mental struggles in an introspective way is so unique! I can recommend so many songs. NF is 🔥🔥🔥 I recommend The Search, Remember This, My Stress, Paid My Dues! I could go on and on about NF, he doesn’t cuss in any of his music 🎶 he talked about OCD, anxiety and depression! All his albums connect from one to the next and he his at his heart a story teller, he has some much confidence and swag in his last album, which is a mixtape, to hold us over to he builds his album and there is no skips! Take the NF rabbit hole journey, it’s worth it! His first name is Nate, he’s from Michigan and he’s married and they recently had a son! I just saw him in September 2021 first time in concert in Cincinnati, Ohio and I put that concert up in 2 parts, he’s fantastic live, just fantastic! More NF!🙌

Yeah there’s a whole “story” so to say of songs, that kind of all tie in together Throughout the years of his releases, some that reference and call back to other songs, I’m sure someone will be able to leave a list of what you should listen to from NF and in what order (because yes there is a certain order they should be listened to)

NF is such an amazing story teller!! His music is so relatable for everyone! I’m so glad you guys finally got to such an amazing artist! Just like Falling In Reverse, NF is definitely underrated!! You have to go on the journey of Nate. Start from the beginning. He dosen't cuss in any of his songs. His flow switches and story telling is amazing. I can't wait for more NF. He was with Capital records but i think he is independent now

He said "But I'm gonna get a record deal, and say 'hello' to mass appeal". At the end the makeup on his face is a metaphor for the fake smile he puts on to perform. His previous songs will tell you what is going on with him and make his later songs make more sense. That is why people recommend taking 'The Journey' which just means starting at the beginning of his catalog with Intro. Having said all that, I recommend you check out The Search or Clouds next.

NF is a phenomenal artist who’s catalog is 💯 a journey! I absolutely suggest going through it chronologically…Amazing to see his growth as an artist, talent wise, as well as his use of music to progress personally. If you’d like to just 🎧 to tracks, without going through everything, I recommend checking out “Real”, “Layers” and “Trust”.

At the end he's wiping off the fake smile that he has to put on when he goes on stage. You'll notice he raps a lot about depression and anxiety and so he paints a smile on his face for the public but offstage he immediately goes back to himself.

in hindsight you can see that a person will most probably always be around people who dont like their art because the people who do like it are 1 in 1000, especially in the beginning stages, and the odds of having those people around at the right time are even smaller than that.

Love NF!! Y’all should also check out “Alone” by falling in reverse. It’s from like 2013 so some of the lyrics are meh, but it bangs!!!! I’ve never seen a person not move when they listen to it.

I can't believe that it's almost a year ago you started the journey. It feels like yesterday. Keep it real guys :)

This song summarizes NF’s life up to this point. Dreamt of rapping while working menial jobs thinking success would bring him happiness. Started having some significant success , but it didn’t bring him the happiness he expected , largely because he has too many painful things in his past ... primarily the overdose death of his mother. Labels his music “Real”. Some of his songs deal with his struggles , but not all of them. Comes from Michigan , and he was influenced by Eminem , but he’s very different in a lot of ways. He doesn’t curse , and a lot of his songs are about the things we all struggle with. Two recurring things you’ll see are a black smile painted on his face (because people tell him to smile more) , and black balloons , which represent his “burdens” (all his negative baggage).

By far one the best rapper, singer and performer in the business. You guys will love his stuff, you will have a TON of songs to react to. To appreciate NF you have to start from the beginning. Enjoy the ride.
