I was think the same too. The only reason he kept coming back was because of her. Hence why some people were complaining that Troy didnt pay much attention to the other two kids when he visited them. From an exterior context, Troy saw the step parents and grandmother using Hoa as a sympathy attraction to make money. How do you think they manage to get Troy attention? Grandma walking around in the middle of the night trying to sell tickets when they first encounter each other. It was Hoa that caught Troy attention.

No she didn't eat. Did you not hear the part where Troy asked her a question about food and Duang Ha said she cant eat much or something because she is too big? So they tell her she is fat I guess.. and so she won't eat. She was obviously hungry she ate the entire bowl w/the exception of some of the broth, unless that was Troy's bowl

The adorable girl looks healthy and not at all like a starving child. She might be hungry for dinner, yes, but suffering from hunger, not from the appearance. It seems they were just collectively waiting for dinner time and partake in the video session for more opportunities to make $ from RU-vid fans. If that's the case, it should be explained so honestly or even simply stating that they were about to head out for dinner instead of the HUNGER baiting.

If anything I'd take Troy's word for it. There's a reason why Troy put 'forgot' in quotes in the video.. because it's likely the word they used when explaining why she wasn't fed. The two maternal children were fed and she was not; that's the fact, and there's nothing else to suggest it isn't true especially when the other two kids aren't selling lotto. It's obvious they're treated differently. Everybody playing devils advocate needs to separate what they see in the video and give more credence to what Troy is saying. Of course the stepmother acts more affectionate and kind towards Duong when Troy's around when it's obvious he's particular to her well being. She was not fed simply so the other two children could have more food; but to willingly let a child starve for the night when you DO have the ability to feed her is some kind of horrible.. there's no way around it. This was not an outcome born from poverty but an active choice. They chose to place the burden of their poverty on this child rather than bear it equally or proportionately.. it's why she's the only one who sells tickets, why she has no clothes that fit, and why she was not fed that night (which was likely not the first time.) You may think the stepmother has no obligation to take care of Duong.. but if she wasn't in her care, her children would be on the streets everyday selling lotto tickets to make ends meet-- not her. Troy rightly doesn't rock the boat in situations like these; and is able to see past this if it means he could help people like her. He's the only one with first hand experience dealing with the people you see in the videos; if he thought he was wrong, right or uncertain, he'll tell us like he has with Bac Thanh. He was very honest in that situation, and I see nothing indicating it would be any different here.

It reminds me a lot of the case of the Venice merchant. Whoever embarked on the story only learned the truth at the end. People spoke badly about her for that sort of thing.

You don’t know them and you are already assume their character. For damn sure she does more for the kid then you, don’t you dare to say you’re the better person. Agreed, what was she doing at that hour with the little girl anyway?! Why hadn’t the child been fed🤔 seems to me she’s already exploiting her. Also, I didn’t like the fact that she walked away from her to put away the hat. Anything could’ve happened to the little girl. Although I know Troy wouldn’t hurt the child, it’s just not safe to do, even for a second. I feel like she’s grooming that poor baby to do awful things in order to survive. Something is definitely not right about that lady.
