Need to get some microphones for the crew. Buy 6 sets, so that you'll always have fresh batteries every day. Swap batteries / sets at lunch. Good luck with the parting out of the wrecks. Fun and hard at the same time.

Line the floor in that area with sheets of plywood so you don’t damage the floor and the oils and fluids won’t stain the concrete

You need a Tear Down (Mop Up)spot in the new building, Lots of Storage, and Identify of "good parts & pieces", and your separated recyclables.(Aluminum, Cast, and Steel, Bolts too!!) Those Disk Break parts are $$$! See about getting a Alloy Wheel straightener in the future. Glad to see you all finally working for the guys that hired you. lol!

The Detroit blocks are made in South Africa. My father toured the Detroit plant and said they had plans for a common rail 60 series but when Daimler (or whoever) bought Detroit, they scrapped it and used a Mercedes engine, om471. They just call them dd8, dd13. Dd15 and dd16 because Detroit diesel had a good name. They build all the North American engines in Detroit but they’re almost 100% the Mercedes equivalent.

Hmm....interesting. I ran a 525 cat and my buddy Sheldon [dd16 @ 580hp] could always pass me in a higher gear up this one big hill and we both hauled 145,000 every day. Very good running engine. DETROIT BENZ....haha

As a sugestion,buy some pallets ,lay them on the floor of your shop that way you can lay not only engines on them but also transmissions and other parts Then when a customer comes to collect the engines etcetera,all that you have to do is strap the

Many of the automated transmissions can be converted back to manual, the Detroit ones can not be as they are built to be automated by design and not a converted manual , the old MBE automated can be converted pretty easy, and your fuller, merito, eaton etc can be converted by removing the xy shifter and control module and installing shifter in its place, and possibly the top plate on some. since these were originally 10 speeds etc by design with an XY shifter and a control module installed to make the shifts, the bell housings may also need to be replaced to accept the manual shift fork, but you will have more people these day looking for automated transmissions and parts since thats the way the industry has gone.

No the fuller trans can not be changed back to manuel the slide collars ,are different & there is no holes to bolt the slave valve to the side of trans & if you try to drill new holes the hole is only half in case & half out the lockout pin hole is bigger on auto shift!!

@@ruxoneto6560 I’m pretty sure the older models were backwards compatible because they all originally had the same case and they put the electronic XY shifter on and the control module to control the shifter and you still had to use the clutch pedal to start and stop. I’ve been out of the shop for about 15 years now but prior to that I’ve personally done conversions and the first ones that came out including the first generation of Mercedes automated transmissions. I’m sure now the castings have changed on most or all manufacturers. edit I just found a video on RU-vid showing someone doing this. the auto shift can be the Ultra shift can not

Are those Detroit engines just rebadged OM471/472's or is that just for the newest stuff? They look awfully familiar at least. If they make their own gearbox now it's probably some rebadged variant of a Mercedes PowerShift (most American name for a gearbox that's probably/maybe sold in the US but under a different name lol) and I haven't seen anyone convert those to a manual. Could be possible but not many drivers in Europe like the Mercedes trucks, not most of the Actros models at least, so I doubt anyone has properly tried to.

Why don't you do double or triple trailers? You could carry 110k lbs and a lot more engines. Fewer trips would decrease your fuel expense and labor. Do you know how?
