We shot an iPhone 15 Pro MAX vs. a REAL camera... 

Got an international content shoot coming up in the spring and for the first time, I’m considering shooting it all on my iPhone 15. Never would have thought I’d say that. But here we are.

Sooo much noise in iPhone shots. Also it sucks that Log on iPhone is only available in that ridiculously big size ProRes codec. Would be nice to see it in H265 as well. Overall, Apple is making quite a lot of progress, but even the cheapest m43 camera still beats it in many if not most of the situations.

My experience with the iPhone 15 Pro was that the Apple Log profile did not have the sharpening you get from the iPhone's regular camera. I've learned that when I do use the regular camera, I lower the exposure by 1-2 stops which captures more highlight details and helps reduce the digital look you get from previous iPhone cameras. What has also impressed me, is how clean the Apple Log footage is that I film. Like you said, you're able to bring up shadow detail more easily than control highlight details. Nonetheless, the Apple Log footage is cleaner than many other prosumer cameras I've filmed with. I think there will be more feature films shot with the iPhone 15 Pro/Max because of Apple Log and the improved image quality.
