We also stayed in Roma Norte when we spent time in Mexico City in 2015. Like you, we were blown away. Hopefully, you've visited the huge Chapultapec Park (and the free zoo with pandas!) and Stephanie has had her fill of museums since there are more per capita than in any other city. That open toilet would have been a no but the 2nd makes it doable. Can't wait to see what you paid because it looks ultra luxe! If you would like friends there, let me know and I'll connect you.
Glad You love Mexico, we're happy yo receive You, but You are causing a gentrification in the cities that might bring a backlash very soon on the attitude of mexicans to foreigners living in the city. You Say that everything is cheap and more and more gringos want to come, but it's NOT cheap for mexicans with salaries in Mexico. 🤷
So I met lots pf mexicans from there saying how they hate foreigners/nomads. Driving up lots of prices, not learning spanish, just hanging with gringos, etc. It is good to see new things and explore but most people become the problem.
I must admit, I had the same thoughts as you about what Mexico City would be like. Experiences like this are part of what makes travel so enjoyable. Looking forward to your next vid.
When ppl who go to MC start off by saying this is not what I expected, it just shows they have or had this American perception/stereotype of Mexico as being a backward & unfriendly country. Jeez this is getting so old
We as Americans need to stop judging/measuring other countries by "our yardstick." The world has so much to offer. But if all you do when you visit other countries is parrot "back home, we don't do this/that". Stay home; because you'll miss out so much that country has to offer. Travel and enjoy where you're at.
In the end, the touristy places of Mexico won't be touristy. We have to accept our new migrants to our country Anglo Americans need to learn more about the true culture of North America.
Glad you are falling in love with CDMX: me encanta! Enjoy the parks, museums, restaurants, noises, smells, noises, friendly people and all of it. I visit there at least twice a year and, I never see or experience all of it. Enjoy!
Wow. Love the excitement with the surprise of Mexico City. I would agree that this is NOT what I would have imagined the city to look like. Looking forward to hearing about your adventures this month and of course all of your food discoveries. I must confess to never having heard of a "gordita". What a beautiful Air B and B, but Stephanie I am with you on the privacy in the bathroom! Can't wait for the next video. Enjoy ladies!
Gotta have that bathroom privacy! That one's a non negotiable for me 😂 More on Mexico City coming up this weekend...we surprised ourselves with how much fun we had!
I am in Mexico City right now also. The historic district across the street from the museum of history. I'm staying at a hostel for $9 a night. It's pretty fun but I haven't gotten used to the environment yet, still nervous due to media in the USA :-(
@@hectorcampos9244 exactly! Actually it is worse in many cities in the USA since the population is divided Republicans being the very violent ones Welling to have followers kill any democrat This lady out to leave CDMX
Really appreciate your perspective on Mexico City. I too was worried it was too much city for me. But, now I am dying to check it out. I live in San Miguel de Allende and love it. But it is not easy to walk, nor all that great if you have a dog. No dog parks, a few too many loose dogs. So now I’m ready to to take a vacation in Mexico City but bummed about the air B&B situation since my boys go with me. Please do more videos of Mexico City I want to see more of your perspective.
We've got one more video about Mexico City coming up soon! And don't let our experience keep you from visiting with your pups. I think if you are flexible on location, you could find some decent Airbnb options. 😊
That’s my grocery store and I go to the dog parks every day. We came for a month last Nov. and just didn’t want to leave so I rented an apartment in April. Love it here! Look forward to seeing the other vids about CDMX!
Please try MERCADO ROMA and MERCADO MEDELLIN. The later has excellent places to eat typical mexican dishes at affordable prices, so is produce, fruits and vegetables.
I am glad to know that you have liked Mexico City, they help other foreigners to know the reality of our country and not what the news or movies show. They are always welcome, without a doubt excellent video. Greetings.
Don't worry about the gentrification comments, I see it's just a lil vacation thing. It's is a problem for the locals who are earning in pesos. But enjoy your time there, que se le pasen bien amigas 🤠
Don't know if you guys stayed in the part of CDMX portrayed in HBO's "Amsterdam" (named after a street, and a friendly dog found on that street), but it looks similar. It's a good short series, in Spanish, with a choice of subtitles for us learners. Humor, drama, relationships, community, love of dogs, the whole enchilada. I watched once with English subtitles, next time I'll watch with Spanish subtitles.
We stayed very close to that area and, in fact, went there a number of times during the month. It's a lovely neighbourhood. Sounds like an interesting series -- I'll look it up! 😊
Wow I once looked some publicity for that series but since I’m totally not into love stories or dog stories I never paid attention. But never thought it was located in Mexico City! And since this is my city I would love to watch it and see how it looks in that series, thanks for the advice.
@@moibe182 If you want a little more motivation, the main dude in the series is a young-ish pro musician, specializing in retro stuff from the 60's and 70's. I'm old enough that I grew up with that so it resonates (mostly, and YMMV).
@@jim8947 thanks for that, sounds good 👌🏻 I definitely going to watch it. Thanks a lot! By the way, have you been also in the neighborhood? If not I also recommend you to visit great CDMX. And thanks for your advice too 👍🏻
One of our favorite neighborhoods in one of our favorite cities in Mexico. Quite green indeed. When we arrived back there our second time, I recall a sense of comfort washing over me during our taxi ride to our accommodation. That is how much we like it there. You made me miss practicing my Spanish on the streets. I was getting pretty good. Doesn't help us much in Southeast Asia these days. We enjoyed the dog park often and we don't even have dogs. It was almost like going to the zoo for us. We would sit there with coffee and pastries and watch the dogs interact with each other for a couple of hours. Nice looking Airbnb. Enjoy your time there.
It sounds like you had a really lovely time in Mexico City. We already know that we'll be heading back there one day. We really enjoyed the greenery and the culture and all the beautiful architecture. Hopefully our next destination will be just as memorable!
I'm so sad I missed you two during my stay in la CDMX from 2019 until the beginning of this year. I got so absorbed in this video that when I looked up, I had forgotten for a moment where in the world I was. For groceries, check out Mercado el 100 in Roma Sur on Sunday mornings. Just be sure to ask for the price before deciding to buy something as some of their vendors charge a lot. I don't know if they speak English, but I bet most do. On an unrelated note, be prepared for where you're going to go if there's an earthquake. They have sensors that sound an alarm 30 seconds before the quake, but if you're on a high floor, you won't be able to make it to the street in time. The alarm is a loud automated male voice, and you'll hear all your neighbors running down the stairwell as fast as possible. Hope this helps. ¡Diviértanse!
Wow - we hadn't even thought about earthquakes! Good to know it's a possibility. Fortunately our place was just on the second floor so we could grab the poodles and go!
Loving it already. That supermarket was fabulously well stocked. I could see the most beautiful fish counter. The contrast with the UK could not be greater! I thought the city would be a sketchy and polluted place and not all that safe. I guess I should access a few more vlogs rather than get my pre-conceptions from Breaking Bad! The Airbnb looks epic. Such a huge amount of space. And yes, that bathroom facility is not quite my thing either. The toilet needs a quick upgrade with a coloured flat sheet held in place with tape. Or, as you say, you need some sort of managed process to help with the timetabling of visits. You don't want to double book! I took a look at the weather just now. It's kind of manageable as the BBC tells me that it's steady at 33-35 celcius but not falling below 24 C at night. I'd prefer a little cooler overnight but I guess you have to go with whatever the climate throws at you rather than dialing it in yourself in some weird thermostat kind of way. Thanks for the vlog!
Actually we're finding the weather to be kind of perfect, especially now during the peak of summer. The mornings and evenings are cool enough to wear long sleeves and pants and there's a pleasant amount of sun in the afternoon. We love it!
Jillian, I'm just starting to learn Spanish on Italki as well! I learned some Thai with them before going to Thailand for 2 months in the spring, and now I'm going to tackle Spanish. I can understand a lot if people speak slowly but I can only say simple things, so I've finally decided to really learn it. Since I live in California, I'll have many people to practice with. Good luck!
Looks amazing!! Your video made us even more excited to spend some time there later this year. The bathroom looks super luxurious but totally get it about personal space. We've been together 26 years and still want a bit of privacy!
Love this AirBnb! So sumptuous. I look forward to seeing how much it costs in a month. I got a kick of you throwing in ROE for the potty breaks. Another great video. You two are the most fit of all the nomadic travelers I follow. Thanks for sharing.
I would love to know about workout facilities in Mexico City. Doesn't seem like any of the vlogs cover that aspect of traveling to Mexico City. Do they have gyms/health clubs in any of the neighborhoods?
Our food is better, our culture is deeper, our families are bigger, our hospitality is genuine... please don't ruin it by invading it as anglos often do.
We first went to Mexico City back in 2018. I’d always said I wanted to see the pyramids, which I know you’ve seen, so this was the jumping off point. They did not disappoint and the city was a great jumping off point to other destinations. We actually stayed in a hotel in the same area that you’re in or at least close by it. I can see ourselves wanting to come back to Mexico City to spend much more time there. I hope you’re month continues to be great fun.
It's definitely worth another visit. There's so much to do here we really couldn't cover it all in a month. By the end of our visit, we were making a list of all the sights and attractions that we'll have to come back for 😂
As always, love seeing your videos. Mexico City suits you. As a reminder I'll gladly accept your wonderful dogs at my air bnb in Mérida if your plans come to the Yucatan. :)

Don't miss the following, please: Museo Nacional de Antropología, Chapultepec Park, Coyoacán, Xochimilco, Pirámides de Teotihuacán, Polanco, San Angel... just to start with... I'm a chilanga living in Cancún. Regards, have a great time!
It is indeed polluted and crowded!!! You do have nice content but it looks like a fairytale which CDMX is not. Had you used metro of CDMX? Any word on the airport? How far did you really go in Mexico city? Did you see Tepito, Ixtapalapa, ?
Loved this video and very well analyzed and objective about the way to go around the city, getting food, groceries and basically enjoying your stay. I'm looking forward to see more adventures!
Mexico City... other states came to mexico city...all emigrated there and since they left everything dirty and with rude people now they are there saying ugly things about the people of the capital... they had better put up their fences so that so many people would not get into the Mexico City ... everyone is ungrateful to the Capital because the other states were made from it and now they talk shit ... without remembering that without being natives of the Valley of Mexico they got a job ... being from abroad ... there their ancestors were taught to speak Spanish/Castilian... and among other techniques, arts, trades and professions
Yeah! Mexico city are very crazy and very nice 👌 But please you can tell it more slow and spanish ? 🤣🤣🤣 Cogratuations are you welcome here to my country and city
Wow! The apartment is amazing! And please. We all want to see Stephanie attempt to order next time. Hehehe! It's great how you two balance your attributes to make it through every situation. The moment I saw the bathroom, I knew Stephanie would be anxious. LOL! Nice to see there is a more private space that can be used too. My girlfriend and I are off to Ireland for two weeks on Monday, but we'll be sure to catch any of your videos while there!
It's a tough question but I do think we'd choose Mexico City, based on how green and walkable it is. Of course, we still love Istanbul for the food and culture.
Learning another language is a humbling experience. Just when u think I know enough, u find out how little I really know. Learning another language is a great exercise bfor the brain. It keeps it new, refreshed, and stimulated. Just like travel.😎
@@OurFreedomYears you will. Language learning is all about patience, determination, application, and exploration. Somethings you both have already learned through international traveling.😎
You are talking about Roma Norte, BUT you're showing my neighborhood HIPODROMO. Hipodromo is in Condesa. Not Roma Norte. ??? pretty common for youtubers to walk around CDMX giving out info that is incorrect.
the comment of an inhabitant of Rome they went to a small and expensive supermarket there are cheaper options and with more assortment, although in another area of the neighborhood. Welcomen to México City
I don't understand the problem with the huge bathroom, because after all, how many people use one bathroom usually? Normal household bathrooms are usually used by only one person at a time. So if more than one people use the bathroom, .... is that normal in Canada?
Would be great to post a link to your AirBnB so we can stay there too. I believe you'll also get a referral discount if someone books it using your link.
how awesome . . . i think u guys should go to a wild nightblub!! i bet there's plenty & fun ones. & i can't wait to see u tour teotihaucan which hopefully you'll share!! m city is 20 degrees COOLER than where i live in the US; food costs half as much; why am i living here?? . . .
