it’s not the other sneaker heads that are the problem, it’s the kids at school who know enough to tell nike from adidas, but not much else who are solely influenced by hype and will clown you for anything they don’t know about
don't care the high retros looks way better and they actually improved the shape and look on the retro models. mids are just weird they have disproportionate design. some elements of the shoe just look squished

I’ve always disliked mids because they are just aesthetically off. They also have the unnecessary Jumpman branding that makes it look goofy. The shape and panels don’t really look right, the swoosh is damn near touching the midsole. The quality on them is also typically horrible, would rather cop a pair of AF1s than a pair or AJ1 Mids. Hype beast just followed the wave without knowing the reason behind it, but AJ1 Mids and AJ1s from 2003-2010 have always been talked about negatively when compared to the original High look.
I think people compare them too much. They're different, let mids be mids and let the highs be highs. I can't wait until Travis Scott makes a mid then people will say "Mids are fire!"
Thank you for always releasing good videos with awesome viewpoints and being very accepting of non "mainstream" views. I feel like these videos can educate newer, younger generation of sneaker lovers everywhere that they should buy and wear what they wanna wear, not what somebody says they should wear or that "pricey" and sought after shoes are the only ones that matter. In the summer i walk (no running) alot on european cobblestones, uneven lanes and concrete surfaces (Prague). I have underpronation (not over) and flat feet (unusual combination). So i think the shoes need to have adequate foot support with a max cushioned insoles and durable outsoles with probably some ridges and grooves for excellent grip (protection against uneven cobblestones). Im getting very mixed messages on what shoes to get. From Bondi L or 7 & NB 1080 to Stinson atr 6, Gaviota 3, Terrex free hiker and even Salomon X ULTRA 4. Please help me!! Which shoe do you suggest!!
WestsidePatriot - Actually... Mike even said that he didn’t like the highs because they hurt his feet so he went to a mid. Mids were not even a thing so they had to make them that way, and that is why they had 9 holes instead of the standard 8 that kids have today. Mids fit most people better and probably looks better. I wish the mids had the same Leather quality as the highs. I’m not putting value in a shoe that Mike didn’t ever wear just because Hype says that’s what I should buy

The "OG" Jordan 1s was a MID!!!!!! Do research, it was a pe that was made for Jordan. You can argue that it really isn't considered a "mid" nowadays as far as the height....but the fact of the matter is that his game playing shoes were a Nike PE, mid top Chicago

"Not game worn" isnt necessarily true. Over the course of the season, Nike had to make a lot of different shoes for Michael. All of them was not highs. Michael played in some mids. Go back and research some of those old pictures
I love the mids cause the all white ones are on sale sometimes so I can pick them up and easily custom them to make what I want. And at the end of the day it's just a shoe
The highs looks horrible on me because I'm not a tall person, that's why I prefer the mids and I have 5 of then. Honestly I don't give a Damm about what people say.

This is a honest video. I’ve copped highs and have a few mids that I actually prefer. I’m Not into all the crazy color ways on either but a traditional black toe mid is actually solid and fits the ankle better IMO. We’ve become sucked into the matrix of social media and the opinions of others. I appreciate this conversation and the opinions of those on the thread. Jordan played in the mids more often than people think. It is said that he preferred the mids over the highs. Also, the mids were exclusive to Jordan which is why we didn't see them back in 85 and 86.
You just need to be gratefull that you can afford jordans because alot of people cannot afford it. I myself do not own jordan 1's but i wil buy a pair of jordan 1 mids at the end of the month and i'm happy that my mother will buy me schoes that i realy want.

I didn’t even know there was a difference when I started getting into AJ1’s nearly 20 years ago and for a while, a solid colorway on an AJ1 was all that mattered; and to an extent still today. Hype is stupid.
You missed one little detail to differentiate between high and low. If you look from the side, you’ll see that highs have 9 holes for the lacing and the lows have only 8 in consequence of the lower height logically. But as you said, they’re almost the same shoe and I think they look great .
As someone who's pretty casual in the sneaker game I don't get why lows are so hated but regular-ass nike dunks suddenly became a holy grail. It's basically the same silhouette with slightly different paneling.
Right now, the lows are catching fire as well. I’ve got a pair of white gum hyper pink lows, that I bought for $85 at footlocker that now go for almost $300. Lows are sick, imo.

I think mids are more of a daily shoe, but highs are for special occasions, also the mids are getting pretty nice color ways now days, I just got the linens and there is no high or lows with the same color way,and this color way is sexy af

No if my favorite celebrity wore/made mids it wouldn’t change my mind same with other shoes. Mids just are built weird their proportions are off and they just don’t look as good as the highs.
Mids do have lower quality materials, but they are cheaper and easier to get. If Jordan brand decided to actually make normal high tops readily available and kill resale, then there would be no need for mids.
The ONLY reason Mids get hate is because a lot of today's so-called sneakerheads are really nothing more than hype chasers! I have a ton of 1s, Highs, Mids, and even some Lows. Mids have 8 lace holes per side, whereas Highs have 9 lace holes per side. EXCEPT for AJ1 High Zoom CMFT, they only have 8 lace holes like Mids. I hear a lot of people say they only want Highs cause that's what MJ wore, but that isn't true MJ! MJ wore a custom sneaker Nike made for him to game in, and it was in between a Mid and a High!!
and here I am wearing my Air Jordan 1 Ultra High BREDs (At the time was around $100). These were slept on for sure. Now they going for $195 and I can't find them locally at all. These are the only breds I can afford at the time
The problem with mids is that most coloways are trash except for when they’re a collab like the Melody Ehsani, or Maison Chateu ones, that’s another reason why they’re so hated.

The mids are lit 🔥 af don’t care about what people think I got over 170 pairs and money ain’t the issue but I do think mids look better especially with shorts or when going to the gym and honestly don’t like the extra high on the tops and extra color on the back of the shoe that’s just my opinion thou everyone is different

Me personally I prefer mids and lows over highs, only reason I didn’t cop these is because of the unnecessary red patch on the eyelets like why not just keep it black?
I like the mids but sometimes it pisses me off one they’ll make a high with a cool color way and then change one thing on the mid which makes it look cheaper. Like when they take the original Chicago color way and make the toe black or something. The black and gym red color way on the mids is better than on the high though, the high has too much black
The mid quality leather really makes the shoe uncomfortable to me. I get that the leather isn't the greatest in the highs, but least it's soft enough to bend and mold
if you want to flex on people then get the highs if you really like how they look then get the mids you just cant brag about em cuz then toxic sneakerheads will come after you
I personally mostly buy mids. I just like the smaller proportions and how they look more streamlined compared to the highs. To me, the heal cup on the highs are ridiculously tall if you really look at them objectively. The mids are also more comfortable to wear imo.
You literally described my exact experience getting my first jordan! My first air jordan 1 I got last year, and it was the air jordan 1 mid chicago "black" toe. I know it isn't the high and not as cool, but honestly just stoked to have the shoe.
Mids are dope , I dont go on hype alone. Dont get me wrong all are nice I prefer any regardless what people say. But once the mid get hyped they going to hop on the train. I went thru the same having to be made fun off for payless shoes.
Honestly the mids have gotten better the past few years. Removing the jumpman from the heel was so key and making so many Chicago based colorways was the real key 🔑 Buy what you like and don't care too much about what other people think of what you wear.
