My deathpile has taken up my whole house and garage ,2 sheds. there's not a room in my house that does not have stuff to list in it. I started selling about the same time you guys did. I got a little over 900 items listed. I'm a 70 yr. old vet that I thought it was going to be easy. I do everything myself. Enjoy your vids very much. Thanks Mark MTA-Pickers

Im trying not to be attached to items i source. I have a donate box to add to and take it with me to the thrift store every week when i go sourcing. They give out 10 - 25% off coupons for donations. If the resale price and sell through rate aren't good it goes in the box!

This is what I am dealing with too. I have about $150,000 in listed value but I would guess I have at least $2-300,000 not listed yet. I see deals and just like to buy but always run out of time to get things organized and listed.

Oh my, I can also relate and have a death pile about that size probably a bit more. So hard to stop thrifting saying I will then feeling guilty when I bring the box or sack and adding to the pile. I say I should quit but I need the mileage for tax reasons but I have a hard time just buying one or 2 items.

I have found that if I batch the stuff I don't want to it helps. So I pile all the clothing, and just list until it's done.

Nice channel new subscriber from the UK I would suggest listing all the Christmassy stuff fist ..Santa ,new toys ,boxed games an jigsaws I sell vintage clothes but also strangely love to sell Tupperware Best way to clean it is soak over night in a bathtub with Laundry detergent powder I was given two huge contractor bags of dirty Tupperware for free and cleaned and listed it.. I sold in batches for around $30 a hit and sold out Probably made $250 '$300 plus I learnt a lot .

Oh gosh...I can so relate to this! My death pile isn't as big as yours but it still drives me crazy. I hate the cleaning part. I've got to where I will take a day or morning to do nothing but clean items and then I have a death pile of clean items. Once I have those clean I find I don't dread listing them so much.

l like to list items according to what is most sellable at the current time. so yes alot gets put back in the death pile and gets looked over when it is time to sell it, or at least for me,, l need to get busy listing 😊

So what me and my husband do is we split the work so my job is to grab items from our death pile and put it in a bin for me to photograph it all then sit down and list it, his job is to clean the item and put the items clean on another bin for me to grab. And his other part is when something sells hi get the package ready for me to drop off, splitting the work helps out a lot, motivates us through out the day to get at least 20 pictures and 10 items listed a day.

Put the first 10 deathpile items into the middle of your workspace. Like on your shipping station. Force yourself to list until you empty the shipping station before you can ship solds.

As you said Marketplace is a good idea for some of your big items. Also checking out a local auction house sending items like golf clubs or big items lamps you might of bought early on & now are never going to ship they take box lots too. Good way to get rid of a lot at once. As time goes by we do get better at knowing what to buy we have all been learning.

I can SO relate! My biggest problem is ours is at our warehouse (where we run our other bz) & most of it is in the same boxes we moved them in…hit the summer sales full throttle & listed that stuff, but the other sits! What I TRY to do is bring over a box or tub, each time I’m at the warehouse..and do marathon listing. It’s boring, but sometimes exciting, cause I forgot what was there & my son always hears ,”Aw man! This would have sold right away”🤦🏻‍♀️😂

Have you considered separating it in a big sort, like with like, it certainly makes listing all of the same type easier. Such as a marathon book list, just grab from the book pile or for me I'll grab say all Bibles or all cookbooks... it usually helps me when I try and get my deathlike in control and it's what we do when we buy storage units.

Also, when I have things coming out of my boxes or totes that I sell I just keep adding to the boxes as they empty out with sales. I just don't have more room for more boxes or totes of listed items. If a banker box starts to have room I carry my lap top around and put new listed in there and put them in custom sku

You're having a process management problem. "Not listing your deathpile" is a symptom. An efficient reseller would have this handled. (I am not an efficient reseller and my house looks like your ebay shop. 😅 ) Most resellers that haven't been doing it for 5+ years have this problem. You get better at it over time. Identify the actions you need for your business. (Sorting, cleaning, photographing, preparing, drafting, listing, taking crap to goodwill, etc.) Have a playbook (mental or physical) for how to handle each action. Have a calendar and/or specific dates to do certain things. - For example, we always need to sort and reorganize. We schedule Sundays for primarily sorting, cleaning, testing and preparing what we intend to photograph and list for the week. (Or at least we would if we were efficient resellers. 😅 )

A suggestion would be do 2 or 3 items (a piece) from your death pile every day you list. You could still do your $500 a day with those being part of the calculation. Just a suggestion.

I have a clothing "money" death pile. Shipping is easy. I am struggling with calculating shipping on hard goods as I list them. How do you calculate shipping as you list?

We weigh everything including the box we plan to ship it in so we don’t mess up shipping too often. We also use calculated shipping for most things

Couldnt you just let someone clean the stuff for you that needs cleaning and then pay them with something from the death pile that they want. Saves you time,money,and lessons your pile. Just a thought.

Where I’m a media heavy seller my death pile is normally movies or cds that are well worth selling but they look like a chicken has been doing cocaine and tap dancing on them. So you have to test them to make sure they work. Besides that I have very little storage space so I don’t have the room for the death pile. I don’t know if you all ever watched the cheech and Chong movie things are tough all over. There’s a really funny misunderstanding about a hair piece this barber thinks that they are talking about herpes. Do you sell on posh and Mercari? Some things seem to move for me on other places but never on eBay.

We’re dealing with a lot of media lately and are cleaning a lot of the bad ones with one of those hand crank resurfacing things. My dang are is gonna fall off before we finish!

@@gramspopsvintage I just use windex and a micro fiber cloth. Most work well I’ve thought about one of those resurfacers but I haven’t found many I can’t fix my way. I would love to find one of those fancy ones that video game stores have but they are at least a few k even used.
