I have been the new owner of Steel Melody for 2 weeks now and it has taken me that long to catchup on all the videos and take stock of the work that has been done. I congratulate you all; Andy, Melissa and Jack on bringing this boat back to life. The amount of work you have done is astonishing! I will be documenting my progress and aim to get her 'spalshed' this summer. Happy birthday Oliver.😊

My daughter explained Jack’s hearing aid to me. Jack is such a wonderful example of what we should all be. Super hero.

Congratulations on closing the chapter with Steel Melody. I had forgotten what a mess she was in when you first laid eyes on her. A great deal of blood, sweat and tears went into her restoration. The only disappointment was not seeing her meet the water and watch you all get a chance to sail her. Look forward to your adventures with Ocean Melody once your sails are set and your on your journey in open waters. Dear Sailing Melody family. 👍👌👏 Congratulations! 🎉 To stay honest: Years ago I came here to see the rescuing/repairing/restoration of a steel boat (sailing yacht). And I definitely didn't become disappointed (on the contrary). Back then I was already sick and tired of watching people repairing (with layers and layers and layers...) and especially sanding epoxy/polyester boats (even when experts did it). I love to look at wooden boats but because they have to be maintained much and constantly, I wouldn't want to own one (I nevertheless of course love Tally Ho and charismatic Leo Sampson Goolden!). 😁 ;-) I like and I am able to work with steel. Additionally I absolutely like the big pilot house and the massive engine of Steel Melody. I'm really very sad 😭 😭 😭 to see her go. Ocean Melody is not what I would want to have. Simply because of three facts: It's relatively dark inside, it's a "plastic" boat and one has absolutely always to climb stairs respectively a ladder when one wants to enter or leave the cabin. With a toddler on board or having back pain, especially the last point would be a nightmare for me. But of course it's your life/decision/taste/boat. So bye bye and nonetheless of course congratulations 🎉 again for selling my favourite Melody to a trusty new owner. May the money indulge you to live your dream(s)! Best regards, luck and especially health to all of you (including the new owner of Steel Melody). Post Scriptum: To be honest again (maybe my biggest problem): I didn't watch this retrospective. At the moment I'm simply too sad to take a look at the "good old times" again! 😁 ;-)

I have to admit that my emotional attachment remains with Steel Melody up to this time. I'm sure that will change over to Ocean Melody as soon as you start sailing her. I am reassured by your plans to circumnavigate Old Bligĥty first, esp with the baby on board! I remember doing something similar in Australia with my oñe year old son viz. A drive from Darwin to Melbourne in our Toyota Landçruiser 4WD in the hottest part of the year. Naturally my wife and I were very concerned about all of the things that could have gone wrong,but fortunately none of them eventuated. My major concern was about the availability of emergency health care services in remote areas but to offset any risks my wife is a highly skilled senior nurse manager - nòw rt'd after 50 years of service! So now I offer you all my silent prayers and many happy days be yours!

Wow , you certainly were able to sell Steel Melody much faster then i thought you would so thats certainly due to your hard work restoring her and all those 100's of hours you all put into her restoration! My father built a similar John Teale designed steel ketch back in 1977. He single handedly lofted, cut the steel with a jigsaw, welded, fitted out, marinised an old engine, constructed spars in his spare time only missing the 1977 sailing season.

Hell of a job you took on with her. A rust bucket that you brought back to life. With a wee Jack and you two looking much less fit than you are now. She might have been stressful, but I think she restored all three of you, while you were restoring her. Now she's near the last leg of plying the shining blue. And she owes it mightily to you lot, an unlikely rag-tag bunch who pulled the cat out of the bag, and got her to murmur sweet Melody. A heart of love, the breath of wind, and the bones of Steel.

Steel Melody is a damn good looking boat and I love 🤩 the colour scheme! That shade of blue is just the bees knees or should that be the knees bees oh Hell!

Way to go, loved the show. Hard work leads to a profit. I have truly enjoyed the past three years and looking forward to the next.

I 1st want to say thank 😊 you for a look back at the memories 😊 I've been with yall from the beginning and it has been an honor to watch yall grow as a family. 2nd id like to congrats Melissa on her journey to lose weight while having Ollie at the same time i know that has been hard and you look amazing. 3rd im not going to mention names lol but im glad some serting one Finley decided to get a haircut 😅 lol. 4th it has been amazing to see jack and Ollie of grow but jack has grown so much and learned things that will never be thought in a class room things that will take him far in life and help him survive. And last i know with 2 gingers in family the sun 🌞 is always going to be on your mind because yall can get burn so bad yall will need medical assistance but i fish a lot i wear a long sleeve shirt thats made for the outdoors they have a high SPF rating while also keeping you cool its not like wearing a regular long sleeve shirt so maybe yall could look into. What a fantastic episode. You all should be immensely proud of the transformation of Steel Melody, totally mind blowing how she looked from where she started. Look back on Steel Melody not with regret or what if’s but with joy and love in your hearts. If she had not needed all that work you would be god knows where in the world living in a yacht that was now not right sized for your family and you would never have found and bought Ocean Melody. Everything has worked out for the best. Even the house sitting has worked to your advantage as you would not have made all those quality of life improvements had you been living aboard in the last few months. Really looking forward to watching you escape the rat race and to continue with you all on your adventures, so jealous! ❤
