State of that Ka poor thing has definitely seen some abuse, Definite trader there James that thing is going to take some work to get back to a respectable condition
Hmmm yeah im thinking that....buyers making out theyre not very car savvy palming off what they know to be problem cars as their budgets wont stretch to paying main dealer prices to get rid of their heaps. Jsmes seems to sort most issues though.....
And here. Learnt my double declutching 'skills' in a 1962 Morris 1000. Never really got on with the car though. Preferred the Allegro I replaced it with at the time, although I did spend three times it's value on maintenance in the space of 18 months!
Hi James. Love your videos. You take so much care but that ka is a shed just scrap it at that miles. Would u risk your family in that heap of scrap. You give a good service with your people. Take care. Have a good day. Best wishes David
Nah I've got a 57 plate Fiat 500, had it since new, never had an issue with it. It's how you look after em 👍 Pleased its going well James 🎉 go on then treat us to some auction madness, remember that 10 car splurge? Exciting times 😂
I wonder if a certain Welsh Ford fan will give your Ka a home? He loves a wee challenge. Yeah i think the time is right to get the Spark sorted as clearly the market for decent cheapies is very much alive
Be weary of 1.2 TDi polos the manicats/DPF flexi rots at approx 8-10 years old and they're £1,600+vat just to buy the parts trade from VW there's no aftermarket support, we've done 3 in the last 2-3 months, very common issue ! Looks awesome though but my GOD that ka is awful
Get your compressor going bud, not take long, it's loads easier than cans, cheaper as well, a lacquer pac is 30 quid that'll do loads of jobs, I just mix a cap full for blowing in, get a top feed gun as you can use every drop, only 50 quid. When you get into it you'll fine you don't have to flat and buff, it'll be good enough from the gun, also gun fade out thinner seems better.
You are understandably critical of people who trade in cars with hidden faults, but from my recent experienced of trading in the issue is that the sales guys at a big dealer don't care about anything except getting the sale, condition of the trade in matters not. My last two trade ins, the only questions I was asked (apart from what is it, and how many miles) were: First trade in :Any warning lights?; Second trade in: No questions at all, but salesman remembered day before new car was to be collected that trade in must have 3 months MOT. Neither of them looked at the trade in until after I had left with my new car! So, good luck finding the good ones!
Well it kinda is the woman's fault. She's shopping around for the cheapest price possible. That's what happens. I use to see if all the time in building trade
If that auto box changed OK and you could have scanned the transmission to check for faults, I'd have deffo gone for full retail, small autos are like gold, nice of you tho to let a trader make a grand.
That ka is just the sort of p ex you don't want, bad body, bad box, a quick run round prior and you'd have been bidding scrap price plus say maybe couple of hundred overallowance from the sales car, I'd (and do) drive all p exs, 90% on cheaper cars have nasty faults, a main agent p ex is probably OK but on a cheapish car it'll be hammered, most tbh are only worth scrap, even tho they might look like 2k worth.
@10:17 sounds like the internal cogs on the driveshaft bashing around inside the gearbox, so could be the bearing has got bad, not been installed, or incorrectly fitted. trouble is with an owner not being qualified mechanic, then she might think/or been told it is the clutch to get her to spend a lot more money than paying for a bearing.
People do not change cars bcause he one they have is still OK in the market you serve its because old car knackered and they are not bound by any law to tell you that when they PX it,so faults should come as no surprise, remember buyers are liars.
I don't believe it excuses dishonestly. If this is the case we should only ever offer scrap to everyone. The law will actually protect if they make a dishonest statement
For some reason it's hard to get a good finish on direct gloss, 1500 it followed by 2000 it'll buff up nice, with direct gloss you've got to get it on in one pass, if you've wave about it'll crinkle up.
And yeah Fun fact the Ford KA even the 1st gen had same gearbox and clutch issues , I remember buying a 1.3 back in 2014 it was a fun car to drive quite sporty but then the clutch release bearing went and i had to scrap it as car was not worth £500 quid and they rust like a Lancia lol
Out of interest, will the polo being a 3 door have a affect on how easily it will sell? And shows your honesty when you showed the leaky/ bad injector, you could easily have kept that to yourself.
That is a Ka (Cah) as confirmed By Ford themselves. I never grasped why people keep spelling out its name. Its also seen some serious action looking at the lh side
IMHO, I would have refused to take in that KA. Sale only. It's not worth the headache. unless you paid £200 for it. it's just not worth the aggro. you have to fix [probably] multiple mechanical issues and then the exterior as well. There will be no profit left in this
Are you saying modern cars like the C1 and the Up don’t come with synchros on first gear? Or simply that the synchros are worn on these particular two cars?
I had an i20 which failed its three MOTs for problems with the back brakes, I now have an i10 owned since new in 2014 and its back brakes are also useless, at almost every MOT the rear discs need replacing, it now has 70,000 + on the clock. What is it with these cars and their back brakes, I had the older i10 and two Getz models with drum brakes no problem but these newer ones are an expensive pain.
I hope you didn't pay to much for tha Ka as it was battered 😂sounds like a dodgy garage that did the gearbox aswell🫤good to see you helping the aged aswell james🙈🤣sorry pete😮good to see the up gone which was a no brainer compared to the citreon🙂👍
I thought the clutch had gone on my little colt but the weird thing happened , it cured itself as if Jesus had healed it 127 thousand miles on original Clutch it was slipping but now its npw ? so very odd , was going to buy that Pixo but called it off as cant afford to take a £1500 gamble on another car , so am just pottering around in my Colt , have got new Kilen Springs and Sachs shocks which i ordered online for under £200 getting them fitted then will get a clutch fitted , for £400 anyway cars are hundreds of moving parts you have to expect them to go wrong sometimes
@@leeallen1407 It’s similar to drive to the Mazda 2 you used to have , they are much faster than a Corsa and just more fun to drive. I would have bought another or a Mazda 2 but even a 2008 one would be £2 grand in current climate , cars are very expensive in 2023 especially when I only paid 600 quid for mine back in 2018
For anyone who doesnt know. The gearbox is right next to the clutch and to change you change the clutch you have to remove the gearbox anyway. it doesn't even add much more labour time. Any garage who changes a gearbox without doing a clutch should get slapped. Reminds me of the garage who changed my turbo but didnt change the oil feed pipe...
