One of the hidden perks of sobriety for me has been he sheer number of bartenders who have awesome drink ideas/recipes they rarely get to make for regular customers. I've had all kinds of tasty spritzers and mocktails just by sitting at the bar and chatting the bartender up about non-alcoholic stuff they like to make. They're usually super excited to do something outside the usual gamut of drinks, and if you're lucky they don't charge you!

PSA: magnesium is also a muscle relaxant and can pretty easily give you the runs if you take too much, or take a formulation your body likes too much

I think the coolest thing to see is Brianna's overall mixing confidence and how that's evolved since they started this series so long ago. I remember when she couldn't barely pour using the jigger and now it's second nature. She's been such an awesome presence in the episodes and watching her learn bartending has been a real treat!

@WhiskeyTribe tell Bri that the average hawthorne strainer can separate eggs as well. Turn it around, dump the egg on the holed plate, the spring will keep the yolk on the plate, and whites will run through the holes. It is not faster than hand separation, but if you are not confident in your skills, it works flawlessly :D

Gotta admit, videos about mocktails give me so much joy, but seeing folks who are alcohol experts either approve or disapprove… it makes me believe that so much more. If someone who is good with cocktails and alcohol approved of a mock tail, I feel like that means it HAS to be good, or in the very least, like it’s worth a try.

Hm, that last drink felt incomplete? It looked like in the TikTok, it was prepared a bit like a tea, I saw the steam and stuff, and that makes sense, that's what sorta activated some of the flavor releasing, especially the star anise, I don't know if that would lower their grading, but it seems a bit inaccurate. But I am glad they liked it

You guys should do a tiktok-cocktails episode of "water-tok". It's this odd phenomenon of people on TikTok making the most sugary, syrupy, brightly coloured mocktails and then trying to convince themselves it's basically just water with a tiny hint of flavour (as though you'd squeezed a lime wedge into a tall glass of water.)

That is not how you do a sour though... Egg and citrus and dry shake(no ice) shake again with ice. That way the whole drink gets the nice eggwhite texture, and the foam actually tastes of the drink

So many of these don't even feel like they were created using any of the principles of cocktail making. They're just combinations of juices and purees and other ingredients to make weird drinks. A lot of them don't feel like they live up to the title of "mocktail". The one that looked the most attractive to me and felt like a real mocktail was the Orange Chai Digestif. That looks fucking delicious.

Mocktails seem like nonsense to me. If you genuinely need to detox from alcohol, for whatever reason, drinking stuff that reminds you of alcohol seems like a very bad idea.
