I'm a mono-black player at heart, but I built a Sephara Brawl deck on Arena, and I get so many wins from salty opponents conceding to a Mana Tithe on their commander after I Planar Disruption their mana rock/dork, and it's kinda making me love White lol. I recently had another idea for collaborative deck building: Each player picks their own commander, but the other three players each pick 33 cards to put in the deck. (Duplicates are replaced with basic lands)
@samuelrobinson4638
@samuelrobinson4638 9 месяцев назад
This is great, but I like the idea that the person playing the deck also gets to swap out 33 cards, so they each get to contribute to every deck that's being played, and they get some say in how the deck operates. Would be nice!
@Graatand
@Graatand 9 месяцев назад
@@samuelrobinson4638 That’s an interesting idea too! I just thought it would be funny if each player were at the mercy of the other three’s deckbuilding ideas. Also, technically I the deck’s pilot got to swap out cards, I think they should only swap 24. That way they would on average remove 8 of each of the players’ contribution, leaving each player with exactly 25 cards contributed (including the commander)

I also feel like this was a therapy session for the group like those work retreats where they make co-workers play trust games. I'd love to see more attempts and try splitting the responsibilities in different ways: maybe each builds a color, or each person gets a card type, or mana amount like Crim 0-2, Seth 3-4, Tomer 5-6, Richard 7+ etc, or each person gets a creature type. There could be a lot of interesting ways to explore collaborative deck building. Also take turns on who controls the game, I want to see what happens when it's Crim's turn!

I must say, running Temple of the False God in a 4 colour deck with under 40 lands is a really interesting choice. I sneak it into some decks, it's a lot of fun to Crop Rotation into a Temple and go off because your Crop Rotation was mana positive! Recursion is a thing I often neglect, but if it's in your colours (and your win cons are permanents) Mythos of Brokkos is pretty cool, I usually try to build decks that have more than one way to win (to the point where my decks sometimes have too many win cons and not enough actual cards), but some ideas just require recursion effects because they lack redundancy.
