An absolutely fantastic review, as always Paul! 10:28 on the lighter side, I think the "beast mode" moniker is a ridiculous misnomer. I think 'speed plus" or "speed assist" or something to that effect would describe the feature more accurately. I have more battery knowledge than motors and controllers but I know it's possible through phasing or something to allow some types of motors to spin more quickly while giving up a small amount of low end grunt. In any case, it's nice that the feature is there but it should be indicated on the display and available as a triple tap or dedicated "speed plus" button... something that can be enabled on the fly.... at least for the US market. After considering the Apollo Go, which didn't meet my range requirements, I purchased the VX2 Pro GT as my travel scooter. I've had it to San Diego twice now and always have time for a morning ride, a recharge and an afternoon ride. It's never left me with a dead battery yet has virtually all the performance of the Go... minus suspension. Of course the pro's, like lighter weight, better brakes, slightly more juice up the hills and better app are all nice too. I'm so glad you've featured this brand on ESG.

Thanks so much for the kind words and your ever astute assessment! I'm stoked to hear how you're doing with the VX2 Pro GT. It's such a fun scooter. It's funny, we saw the small change hill climb behavior on the VX2 and VX4 in beast mode but it was so subtle that I can't remember if I ended up mentioning it in those two reviews. We have more VMAX stuff coming soon! -Paul

@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Yes, and thanks for the ESG discount code! You absolutely did notice and mention the "beast mode" idiosyncrasy in your VX2 and VX4 video. Both you and Ramier(sp?) thought sport mode was the same or slightly quicker uphill. The VX2's range has been almost magical for its size. I've seen as many as 43mi on a charge, about 33-35mi on average but also as low as 28mi hot rodding around. Sometimes the importance battery size and the options it can provide is missed by these scooter manufacturers. VMAX is way ahead in range vs. price and range vs. weight categories. For the recreational rider and day tourist, I believe range / ride time is the single most important performance statistic, with the 2nd being enough temporary top end to get you out of trouble with traffic, chasing dogs, or just a dodgy neighborhood. I always purchase the largest battery available and if it's not big enough, I pass for another model. -Paul

I just put in an order for the VX5 Pro ST. I plan on mainly use it for commuting (2 miles round in a hilly part of NYC) and local errands. I woudl normally get the best performance (e.g. motor, battery, etc.) options, but in this case, I wanted something that was also light enough to carry up a bit of stairs. Also, I really don't need that much speed for the local streets in NYC. Too many stops and stops, but that is why the regen is important. I am not at top speed for very long and pedestrians and cars tend to pop out unexpectedly, which is also why the good brakes are a plus. The roads are bad and occassionally I will hop onto sidewalks (get around garbage trucks or parents haphazardly parked to drop off kids at school with impatient drives trying to squeeze pass them). I would have liked front and rear suspension, but decent scooters (not Chinese knockoffs) with that feature are pretty much nonexistant in my price range. Large tubeless pneumatic tires is probably my best compromise. For a while, I was eying the VX3 Pro, but I wasn't sure the extra half inch was worth the extra cost. And the VX5 Pro has turn indicators. And my penny-pinching wife (one of has to be) likes the price. FYI, it was selling for $499 and just when I decided to buy, it dropped to $399. I think it was to be insynch with Prime Day. With regards to the Vmaxs, I don't think the term "beast mode" is accurate. It doesn't seem to give more power as much as disengaging the speed limiter, at least from what I can tell in your vids. Last point, I do agree the nomeclature is a bit confusing. Their marketting department probaly needs to review it. lol

What other scooters (other than the VMAX electric scooters you mentioned) do you think the VX3 is closest to in terms of price and performance?
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide 5 месяцев назад
Great question! I'd compare the VMAX VX3 to the Segway F2 Pro. In our tests the F2 has more range, but the VX3 has a lot more top speed. Same goes for comparing it to the NIU KQi3 Pro and Gotrax GMAX Ultra when it comes to range and speed. On speed vs weight and range vs weight, the VX3 is also extremely strong. The VX3's hill climb times are typical for this price point, but it's 0 - 15 times are a little behind comparable scooters, but I didn't think it felt slow when riding it. I think it's because the initial throttle-hit is more gradual, which makes it easier to ride smoothly at low speed. -Paul

@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide you don't want a scooter with too much demping if your planning to go fast as hell lol. The suspension on my new LS7+72 I heard feels better then the nami burn e-2 max what I heard on youtube which not sure if it's true. I might buy the nami burn e-2 max at some point giving the fact that iv been enjoying my klima max. Only issues iv had with my klima is the brake sensor thing and rear disc rotor snapped because it was thin.
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide 5 месяцев назад
I'm curious about the LS7+ 72. I'd be very impressed if it rides anything like a BURN-E 2 Max, because that's one of the best handling scooters out there. I feel like most shocks have plenty of adjustment in the less-damping direction, but almost all end up having a bit of a skittering feel over fast bumps, and to me, feel like they could use more damping. I just want them to feel like the motorcycle I used to roadrace on, but that Ohlins shock cost more than $1,000 back then, and that was before we get into the $500 worth of custom valving inside! -Paul

Ok, I had a look at the Dualtron Victor Luxury Plus and have a few concerns. The things I liked best about the Victor and Victor Luxury were their combination of high top speed and relatively small size. The Plus is a *lot* longer, so it loses some of the portability. What I was really hoping to see was an updated stem clamp and display like the ones on the Dualtron Thunder III, but it's still rocking the old style ones. The dual-clamp stem clamp on the Victor Luxury Plus is a really old style now and every single Dualtron we've seen with that style of clamp has made a creaking sound right out of the box. It's easy to fix with a spray of lithium grease though. The EYE3 display also feels out of date in 2024. -Paul

I’m not a fan of the ES2, ES3 or ES4. I ran a warehouse full of ES4 rental scooters and I just don’t care for the thin frame material, and the clacking front suspension. Excellent review!!! If I had spotted the VMAX scooters before I purchased my Inmotion S1F I'd have gotten one, instead of the Inmotion escooter. My scooter is good, but THIS BRAND (VMAX) is way ahead of the quality vs performance game. I had tried the Inmotion Climber, and the thing really does climb, but the range was atrocious (under 10 miles per ride on mostly flat terrain). The Inmotion S1F goes 20+ miles with battery to spare, and climbs quite good as well. Still, the VMAX scooters are the better product IMO.

The thing that surprises me about the ride is the 10" tubless tires running 36 lbs of pressure make the VX2 feel a lot smoother than I'd expect. Not having suspension also keeps the weight down. The VX4 has full suspension (which I love) but it's about 10lbs more than the MAX G2 and the VX2 is roughly 10lbs less than the MAX G2. So, come to think of it, that's a pretty large weight gap between the heaviest of the series and the second heaviest. -Paul

@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide well, for me, I have the NIU KQi 2 pro and I’m really happy with it and I got it thanks to you guys and RK9. But now that I’m commuting with it more, I’m starting to think more about practicality, especially in terms of range. I like the VX2 because it has massive range and very good speeds, but doesn’t look as comfortable as the Apollo Air (obviously isn’t as fast though, doesn’t have as much range, but costs less). Then I’m looking at in between, which would be the NIU 300x, but sadly there aren’t any official reviews on it yet.
