I have that Dragon Circle Star, and as you showed, it's great on the soft targets, not on the hard. It's more "slicy" than "sticky". The playing cards, which I've also tested, better in the foam than the wood targets.
I completely agree Jordan! The dragon circle star stuck pretty nicely in the foam, but I couldn’t get it to stick into the wooden dummy. The cards were a little easier to stick. Thank you so much for watching!
My new favorite RU-vidr channel 🤩😍 thank you! I work at Ren faire throwing ninja stars and I wanna practice before going back to work 😁 I'm one heck of a Ninja with those things
I have thrown the more historically accurate shuriken in other videos, but our customers constantly ask about these unique ones. Thanks so much for watching!
Thanks man! I really appreciate that! I’ve been trying to promote it on Instagram and Facebook. In addition to testing out weapons, I’m also going to begin making weapons and testing them out. Hopefully people will like that. Thank you so much for your support! I really appreciate it!
Boi we need to get them at 100 quadrillion subs bro like they don’t even have 5 percent of it and they deserve more than it karatemart needs to get 100 quadrillion subs
i like that you guys have this channel and showing your items. i buy from u guys often and i just be wanting 2 know how some of your items work. like the stun guns and thanks 4 that video and the swords. yes the throwing cards just what i was thinking. after this video your sales just went up. P.S. people they have a lot of GREAT stuff
Thank you so much! I really appreciate the kind comment! I actually just recorded another stun gun video for this upcoming Weapons Wednesday. I hope you have a great weekend!
I remember back in the early 80s, probably '82 or '83, my best friend and I were into the Chinese weapons just for fun. There was a store in Hamilton Ohio that we used to go to once in awhile when we'd go down to visit his grandmother and we'd bought some Nunchaku's there. Later we each got a few throwing stars to mess with. He wanted the cheaper stars that were basically stamped steel with the sharpened points, like 6 or 7 points and I wanted a couple of the heavier 4 and then about a 7 pointer with nicely sharpened points. They had a huge white barn that we'd throw them at and practice. The heavy 4 point star took some practice to get consistent with but they were a lot of fun. Surprisingly those stamped steel stars actually were pretty easy to stick and stuck pretty well even though they were light weight. You just need to get a variety and practice with them and a little time will tell what their strong points are and their weaknesses.
The card shuriken, since the bevel is one sided and also the way you where positioned you have to throw the actual playing card facing yourself, if you want it to go a bit to the right and get that edge to stick otherwise it will just bounce. That’s my opinion hope to get some feedback on that one. Great vid like always 🤘🏼 It might take a few tries on such dense wood. It would just be better to be as thin as a playing card with a small bevel on both sides Tbh!
That’s a great question. I really love the look of them, but they aren’t my favorite for throwing. Generally, my favorite stars to throw are the standard 5, 6, and 7 point stars. Thanks so much for watching and have a very Merry Christmas!
The dragons rage would be more successful if the wings where cut out larger so you could make it a 10 point star slash blade kinda sheraded it instead of a blade distract that is just my opinion when you are on your CNC machine more meat on wings10 point sharpin between each spike
I have been wanting to try the different sized ones Cold Steel and Honshu Boshin sell , I bet the big ones supise people with how far they fly with little effort. Good video and I lost my father in January 2020 so I know it can be hard but the best thing for me was to keep busy . I bet you have very fond memories with him an KarateMart and what he may have taught you about weaponry ?
I’m really sorry about your Dad, brother. They definitely teach us a lot. My Dad was never really into weapons or the martial arts, but he did buy me my first survival knife. I’m sure your father was a wonderful man as well.
Hi Vadim! That is an excellent suggestion! Maybe at some point, I can make a sword technique video where I use some of the foam or polypropylene training swords. Thank you so much for the suggestion and for your support!
@@Kuzgun_Kuskan Hi Vadim! We do ship outside the US to many different countries, but we are very careful about the restrictions and laws in each country, so we have to research them before we ship anything. If you go to www.karatemart.com/international you can see where we are currently shipping.
Thanks man! I appreciate your kind comment! I tested out some throwing cards at the end of this video, but I’m not sure if they were the ones you wanted to see. I hope you have a great weekend!
Both of those are really good shuriken! I think the bat one was my favorite to throw. I was really surprised by how well it stuck. Thanks so much for watching and for your comments!
The rounded dragon shuriken would be a very sharp cutting weapon, and would likely stick deep into a human if hit on exposed flesh, but these shuriken are not meant to be thrown into wood, they are meant to be thrown at soft human flesh. However, their capability to pierce into wood is a very good indicator for how they would perform when going into a human, wearing simple clothing.
I never actually throw a shuriken before before this is actually pretty cool you really do need to try to make a launcher shuriken launcher that's a pretty cool too you guys at the finest tools and the greatest weapons of self-defense hey do a video of taser gun that could be very useful 🥋✌️😉👍🥋
They are a lot of fun to throw, my friend! We have tons of videos where we test out the stun guns, but we don’t sell Tasers brand. Thanks so much for watching!
@@Karatemart If you had a storefront in the 80's, (especially with a Double Dragon video game in the front) you never would have gotten rid of me LOL. Back then, people sold this stuff to 8 year olds 😂 I had my first balisong knife in 3rd grade. Best wishes to ya 👍
wow. I used to test different kinds in the mid seventies--I'll have to check if they are still in "that trunk" lol I've learned to use a rolling wrist starting with palm facing down then roll my hand towards me ending with palm up or backhand towards the target...don't remember what or even if this is a throwing style...just watching this vid I find myself rolling my wrists lol. now lemme roll on over to the checkout page lol
Yeah, I’ve definitely used that style of throwing as well. I think everyone just gets used to the style that works best for them. Thanks so much for watching!
@@Karatemart true that use what works best for ones own! placed a lil sample order and had to cut off mah internet (j/k); you have some really nice products!!
I think the round dragon shuriken is supposed to stick horizontally. Maybe someone else will give some feedback on that subject. Anyhow great vid like always 👍🏼
Thanks man! You definitely might be right. It has that shape that would make it a good horizontal thrower. I probably should have tested it that way. Thanks so much for watching!
Maybe gloves from sporting good five or auto zone might be a nice change for you. Make you happy? Music. I had the idea when I saw the bat star.Just chime back if you feel like typing.
Hi Chris! Thank you so much for watching! When I was a kid, I trained in American Kenpo, but nowadays I primarily train in the Japanese martial arts. I have spent my life learning different styles and love them all for different reasons. I hope you have a great weekend!
This wood is very hard and does not penetrate shurikens and throwing knives, I'm Brazilian and I've been throwing since I was 10 and these woods are difficult to penetrate but if it's in real life with a human being on my arm or neck they penetrate more throwing knife can stay or not if you throw it 10 meters away from the tip of the knife it is easier now from the front 2 meters it is through the handle or tip that you catch n throwing the difference is shuriken you can throw 3 at once and get them all right and not the throwing knife
Hi! I bought three different orders from you guys! I love the minis (black matte), and yes, I have lost them. Maybe the rainbow ones next time :). Would the Deathclaw slice into targets if you throw it horizontally🤔🤔🤔
Awesome! Thank you so much for your support! I actually think the death claw probably would stick. I’m not a huge fan of that style of star because I always worry about the aerodynamics, but it seems pretty sharp.
awsome cool video im from sweden, and the first i saw when the video started is badge of Kenpo karate, then when walking a round i saw more kenpo karate stuff ;) i have train that for 9 years, and also morden arnis, and have seen alot of great techers from the states here in sweden ;) great video
That’s awesome Johnny! Thanks so much for watching from Sweden! I really need to visit Sweden at some point. I hear it is beautiful! I hope you have an excellent weekend!
@@Karatemart hello thanks ;) it is realy awsome even exman but summer can be realy cool ;) your are so welcome ;) whit open arms ;) maby i film some cool stuff i have at home to put it up ;)
I love that idea! Japanese weapons are so awesome and I bet I could make a really cool video with them. Thank you so much for the suggestion and for your support!
That first shuriken you threw are the kind i have at home im currently showing my daughter how to throw them im mixing her taekwondo training with weapons training as well i need to go on your website and order some light hollow nunchucks for my daughter she wants to learn nunchucks
That’s awesome Hector! I bet she is going to be a very impressive martial artist. If you need any help figuring out the right type of nunchaku to get her, feel free to give us a call. I hope you have an excellent weekend!
If you got someone in the eye with that I'm pretty sure you would Mame them. Couldn't imagine one killing someone but maybe if the victim was very unlucky. I get the point of what you're saying though. Create some pain to distract the enemy and then move in for the kill. That sounds like the only realistic application for them to be honest.
Hi Mikey! I hope you are having an excellent weekend. With all the other weapon choices out there, I don’t think many people actually think about using shuriken as a legitimate weapon nowadays. Most people just enjoy learning how to throw them. Thanks so much for watching! I really appreciate it!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate the kind comment...it makes doing these videos worth it. Have a great day and thanks again for watching and for your kind comment!
Cardboard works great! That’s primarily what I used when I started learning them. I’d just add extra cardboard to the ground around it incase the star hits the ground.
Hi Valah! Throwing stars are definitely easier to learn than throwing knives, but throwing knives are a lot of fun to learn as well. Thanks so much for watching!
I would like to see differences between heavier throwing stars and lighter throwing stars and how the technique varies. Cuz I have a medium weight throwing star and I still have to kind of lightly throw it. And I'm wondering how that would differ from a heavier throwing star. Cuz it seems you can throw two easier than one because of the weight is heavier and so you don't have to watch your strength as much
That’s an interesting question, Chance! What I’ve personally found with stars is that the strength you use to throw them varies more on what the target is made of than how heavy the star is. I throw them all with a lot of force, but sometimes if my target is too cushioned or bouncy, I need to throw them lighter. Thanks so much for watching! I really appreciate it!
Thanks Alex! I completely agree. Sadly, some States have laws restricting them. Maybe the laws in California will change one day. Thanks so much for watching!
@@Karatemart Here's the thing about that...CA does have laws restricting them, along with nunchaku and balisongs. However, there ARE companies that will send them to California, which always makes me question why they are allowed to and other companies are not. Are those companies just ignoring the laws or is their disclaimer about it being the customer's responsibility to comply with local laws enough to circumvent those restrictions?
That is an excellent point Alex. Each Country, State and many municipalities have laws regarding what can be sold there, what can be owned, and what can be carried outside the home. These laws change all the time so it’s difficult to keep up with them, but we try our hardest. Some companies disregard these laws. Great question!
Shurikens is very impressive have you ever looked at Naruto a Batman cuz I've been wanted to try those out for almost years and I always did want to know what it was like to pro a shurikens can actually pretty cool looking and you think about making a shuriken launcher you know like a true that can help you shoot about the shurikens so like a gun but different make Windows launchers for the shurikens they could come in handy let me know what you think hope you like the comment 🥋🙂✌️
Hi Lloyd! It was a bit more difficult to throw than some of the other shuriken. You can see it towards the end of the video. Thanks so much for watching!
Thanks Jake! I explain the wing chun dummy in some of my other videos. That specific dummy is a defective one that is about 10 years old. I’ve been using it in my videos for about 10 years and it keeps getting worse and worse. Thanks so much for watching!
um... ALL of the throwing stars. Do you have the folding one? I used to have that in the 80's. ps. That round one at 12:00 would have taken a huge piece of flesh off your opponent. Is that a fail?????
Hi Marna! You’re right, throwing stars are illegal in many areas. There are other throwing weapons like knives, spikes and axes, but you’d have to check your local laws on those as well. Thanks so much for watching!
I am ASSUMING, like with SINGLE BEVEL ARROW HEADS, the SINGLE BEVEL actually twists as they go in, causing a bigger wound channel that won't close as easily. Makes more of an S shape wound rather than a straight cut
@@TyrantExterminator1776 that’s a great question. I’m not sure of the exact answer, but I know there are strict laws in Japan about ordinary citizens owning swords, so I have a feeling it has something to do with that.
Great video on a very misunderstood weapon. Love the variety of choices tested, too! You guys' thoughts on using ninja caltrops (multiple) - as a soft-tissue throwing weapon? Thanks
Thanks Patrick! I’ve never really thought of using caltrops as a throwing weapon, but that’s a very intriguing thought. The small ones probably wouldn’t be heavy enough, but the larger ones would probably do some damage. Thanks for the idea…I love hearing stuff like that!
